Running Late Wednesday
Jul. 31st, 2024 11:55 pmYeah, it's been a bit of a distracted evening at times here -- mostly because I had to suck up a spider, then a fly, that had gotten into my room. *grumbles* Damn creepy-crawlies... But I still got everything I needed to get done, done --
Work – Another quiet day (apart from the dog barking outside for most of it) – I finished up the address change list from one of the parishes (which overlapped a LOT with the “new parishioners” list one of my coworkers was working on, I found), and then started a new project of clearing out some deceased people from ANOTHER parish, because my boss is trying to get the parishes to send us updates so we can keep our database current. An extremely thankless job that never really goes well because the parishes don’t have any standardized way to send us updates. *grumbles* But it does keep me busy, so can’t complain too much. One and a half more days!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with GrayStillPlays compilations – specifically –
A) The end of “When you hit max score in every mobile game!” Finished this off with the final ten or so minutes of the Headcrab Invasion video (featuring Gray learning that a certain blonde lady can mow people down with her car for cash when you’re on her head and doing everything he could to get as many of her on the screen as possible before eating the president). Good stuff – I do enjoy it when he plays completely random and weird mobile games!
B) The beginning of “Busting 500 Myths in GTA 5!” A compilation that might be a mix of actual YouTube videos and YouTube Shorts, since Gray generally does most of his myth-busting in the latter. So far we’ve been working our way through the actual YouTube videos he did, which have included Gray both sniping a bird and hitting one with an RPG rocket; using the Ruiner to land on a wind turbine; flying a commercial plane under the bridges in the big canyon; flying a jet under ALL the bridges along the more commercial stretch of the river; rocketing his car into the air and then getting out and skydiving in such a way that he could smack into it as it fell; and using the teleport gun to try and hit himself with his own RPG rocket. XD All excellent myths – I am looking forward to seeing more over the next couple of days!
2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice has made it past the Operator guards on the first level thanks to Obfuscate, and is currently working her way toward a ladder into the ventilation system on the second level to bypass a twitchy Tong guard and his friend at the start of the second level. She’ll have to become visible to climb it, but she’s hoping it’s dark enough in the compact car bay where it’s located for her to get up and into the shaft before anyone notices her...we’ll see if she’s right in that presupposition next week!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – a two-in, two-out tonight –
A) First up, we had Josh Way and “GRAB BAG: Twisters Review + Longlegs Spoilers!” A long-for-him video, filmed while he was sitting in his car outside his house by the train tracks, for some reason (a train came along halfway through, forcing him to pause his thoughts, which was amusing) talking about Twisters (which he said was “fine” – certainly not great cinema, and surprisingly enough doesn’t seem to have anyone connected to the characters of the original Twister in it, but is apparently a decent enough action movie? *shrug*) and Longlegs (a movie about a serial killer murdering families in their homes while somehow never setting foot in them; occult nonsense is involved – Josh’s spoilery chat focused on the fact that a certain aspect of the movie really let him down for being too cliche, despite him really enjoying it before then. Also, apparently Nicolas Cage is in it, so that’s nice XD). And a potential idea he had for another mini-series, which would be him using his Master’s in Biblical Literature to talk about Religious Stuff in movies and be a little pedantic and all that. We’ll see if anything comes of that!
B) And second up, we had GrayStillPlays and “$1 to $1,000,000 Hot Wheels Cars!” Yes, the toy-themed GTA V boards continue, with Alex moving onto Hot Wheels now that he’s apparently exhausted LEGO. Today had Gray taking on four life-size Hot Wheels tracks with various amounts of twisty-turny-loop-de-loopy nonsense in them – I mean, the very first course had him riding up and down the sides of buildings while fans tried to blow him off the track. Then the second course had him going through a chompy dinosaur (though Gray called it an alligator) head while doing all the usual twists and turns; the third was basically one really tight tangled-up mess of wall rides and loops that shot him off toward a spider spitting slow-down webs at him before the final leap; and the fourth was a giant classic track featuring things like The Pringle (a really steep wall ride), the Dino Spiral (a spiral up and around the side of a building with a dinosaur at the top – and a bowling ball coming down the other way to bonk Gray), and a big old Jump (self-explanatory), all held up by themed balloons. Oh, and with weebmills everywhere. Oh, and with a time limit (a generous 669 seconds). Oh, and if Gray ground against the walls for long enough his car popped out of existence. The final board was mean, is what I’m saying. XD Fortunately for Gray, he had an excellent selection of cars to choose from, with the number of options increasing for each board – such as the $1 Hot Wheel (a rusted-up mess with a desk fan stuck on the back and a surprisingly good suspension), the $1,000,000 Hot Wheel (a chromed-up, bespiked, and spoilered – fuck, I’ve forgotten the name of the damn thing, the car with the two wheels laying flat side-by-side on the back); the over-sized Begunned Batmanmobile (too big to fit in the dino’s mouth); the same car only in Hot Pink (even worse for going through the classic launch!); The Whale (an over-sized blue car with wings, which actually handled really well and got Gray through the twisty-turny spider mess); and the Cooled Lava Double-Booster (a car with a paint job like cooled, cracked lava and, as implied, two boosts – perfect for a timed board!). Basically this thing was a huge mess of nostalgia for Hot Wheels and the classic cars and tracks. :) Hope they do more of this cool toy-themed stuff going forward, I am really enjoying it!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just Victor Luvs Alice to worry about tonight, which helped! I ended up reblogging a photo post of a phone shaped like a piano (no, seriously) this afternoon because my first thought was “Victor would want that with every fiber of his being” XD – then, tonight, I found myself a Song Saturday (reblogged an old post on Shawn Mendes’s “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” a song that I want to be Valicer but is pretty clearly a guy singing about a girl, so grr there), put it in the queue, then reduced the queue speed back to one per day so all the posts will go up the correct days. *nods* Hooray!
Okay, and now I really should get off and head to bed. XD Night all!
