crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
The freeze continued today -- with a few extra little snow squalls thrown in for flavor! Fortunately there wasn't any real accumulation, just a few white patches here and there, but -- meh. Tomorrow at least is finally supposed to get above freezing, but not by much. And then we're supposed to get a bit of snow over the weekend. I disapprove. >( Only snow if it's enough to get me out of work, damn it!

*shakehead* Anyway -- the daily write-up:

Work – Another quiet and boring day, spent mostly doing roster maintenance while my coworkers did their thing behind me (which, fortunately, included leaving for lunch despite the cold weather, giving me some quiet while I ate). *shrug* It’s that kind of week, I suppose. Just gotta get through tomorrow now!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with “The last Sim in the Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 13” by James Turner! Silas’s adventures in his very first episode continued in this chunklet, including –

A) Silas taking five pictures of that guy in San Myshuno for his latest “everyday fashion” photography gig – only to have them all rejected; fortunately, he got a few good shots of both Pablo and Reuben while taking more pictures of the family for the Tiny Town town hall, so he was able to submit those instead, and a couple of those got approved. Earned him a cool $7,960 too when he was finally able to upload the approved shots!

B) Silas investing some cash into getting a tripod for his camera! Which allows him to zoom in and out and do all sorts of cool angles and whatnot despite having a crappy starter camera. This led to him attempting to take some pictures of his siblings on the home lot (ran into the same problem I often do, where one Sim wouldn’t get with the program and the action timed out) and then, when that didn’t work, traveling to San Myshuno’s Spice District with a handful of the sibs to try and get some pictures there (and meet new people in the neighborhood, as per his “City Native” aspiration) –

Which the game interpreted him as starting a club gathering there for some reason. O.o James was like “WTF???” but ended up running with it, taking a few group shots of Scarlett, Pablo, and Sonny together, and a few solo shots of Vivian for his next gig.

C) Silas then having fun with weird glitches in his next gig because – okay. The shoot was SUPPOSED to involve Silas getting a Sim to do a “fashion” pose in front of one of the fashion backdrops that came with Moschino stuff. But because James didn’t read the entire task, he just had Vivian do fashion poses while in San Myshuno and sent those pictures off. Hilariously, those pictures were ALL APPROVED – but THEN, while waiting for the pictures to come back, James rediscovered the bug where you can resubmit approved pictures from a PREVIOUS gig to complete the current one. So he resubmitted one of the pics from the “everyday fashion” photoshoot...but he couldn’t get paid until he completed the FIRST task, meaning he had to buy a backdrop for the town hall’s spare room, get Scarlett to stand in front of it in a fashion pose, and then snap a picture of her. XD Rather a lot of work for 3,000 bucks!

D) Silas taking over control of the Tiny Town club to make everyone celebrate Christmas with him in the town hall’s bistro/party room – everyone had a good time dancing to the creepy haunting “Winter Holiday” music, and Silas got a really nice painting from Father Winter that James was actually reluctant to sell because he thought it would actually look good in Silas’s house. Not selling something someone gave you immediately for cash? Who are you and what have you done with the real James Turner? XD

E) James starting to build Silas’s starter house! Which was a fun yellow plaster affair with two stories and a curved roof and a little courtyard inside of a large half-wall. :) So far, Silas has a nice pergola thing outside his side windows; some very colorful front doors; and a very Horse Ranch kitchen because James has decided that’s boho for some reason. XD

Not too shabby, not too shabby – at least it didn’t take as long for Silas to earn enough for a house as it did for some of his siblings! We’ll finish off the build tomorrow and see what the final product looks like!

2. Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – got another page on this, with Alice heading to the Last Round to report to Jack about the latest Southland Slasher killing (he was like “fuck, I was hoping that asshole would stay in Santa Monica” and promised to do something about the body) and to get some tips on what to expect when fighting a Nosferatu (mainly, they can hit like a truck and send rat swarms against you in addition to turning invisible – fun!). I left off with her preparing to leave and head into the sewers – we’re slowly but surely creeping up on that Brother Kanker boss fight!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – rather than Gray, we had the return of Josh Way today, with “Nosferatu Movie Review!” Yes, he recently saw the new remake of the classic 1922 film, and he absolutely ADORED it. Mostly because he loves everything its director, Robert Eggers, puts out, but he cited this one as a particular favorite because of Eggers’s meticulous attention to period authenticity and detail while not allowing the movie to become dour and unfun, but also keeping it genuinely scary at times. He also quite enjoyed Willem Dafoe’s performance as the Van Helsing-alike, and admitted HE liked Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlock, but said the guy WAS going full Count Chocula with the accent and such, so you were either going to love him or you weren’t. :p The final verdict was a big thumbs up from him, though, and a retroactive place on his “best movies of 2024” list. So yeah, if you’re into vampire movies, you might want to check this one out!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – I didn’t really have anything to do on Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler), but on Valice Multiverse, I had one ask for the queue from toonsisters, talking about what kind of gems the Cuddlepile Valicer trio would be if they were Steven Universe-style gem aliens. Smiler would be a spinel for their kooky and fun personality (Smiler was like “if you think it fits, I’m happy to trust your judgment); Alice either an emerald or a bloodstone, though she was leaning toward a bloodstone (Alice, amused: “I’m guessing this has something to do with me stabbing my mental demons to death”); and Victor a pearl because of his personality and also because Pearl in the show is as tall and skinny as he is (Victor was like “I cannot refute that” XD).

Other: Answered all of Moose’s messages tonight, hooray – and discovered in the process that getting a Premium Paid account during the holiday sale may have in fact doubled the character limit in my PMs! O.o Well then – good reason to get a paid account, I guess!

And that's about that -- not much interesting happening in my life right about now, I must admit. So it's time for me to head to bed and prepare for Friday. Night all!
