Much Quieter And Calmer Friday
Mar. 7th, 2025 11:55 pmTo my very intense relief, I must say -- let me give you the write-up:
Work – Very quiet Friday to end the week – my talky coworker was sick, and the two directors ended up leaving early for meetings, so it was just me and the other coworker pretty much all day, meaning it was damn near silent in that office. YAY. I spent most of the day doing the GL (our processors put on a ton of stuff yesterday), along with taking a few credit card calls, doing some roster maintenance, and updating somebody’s account to be “do not mail ever or else.” :p Even traffic back home was pretty good – not PERFECT, like Tuesday, but a lot lighter than the past couple of days have been. Not a bad way to end the work week!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – final night on the bike this week, pedaling my way through the second half of “The Sims 2 Rags to Riches - Part 1” by James Turner! Which was mostly just Iled working on her pottery badge and Semaj alternating between giving financial advice online and making toys, with James occasionally graciously stopping to allow them to take care of their needs. XD They accomplished a good amount during the grind, though:
A) Iled earned a Silver Pottery badge, and Semaj a Silver Toy-Making badge! Which means that both of them have some more items they can make – James is making Iled focus on pitchers, since they bring in the most cash, while Semaj makes sit-and-spin toys just because James thinks they’re fun. :)
B) With the money earned selling all of their crafted creations (and Semaj popping on the computer to give Sims tips on how to invest their money), they were able to upgrade their house a little! There’s now something resembling a proper kitchen, with two counters, a stove, and a sink; a really nice couch in the middle of the room; a nice double bed in the bedroom; and proper lights and wallpaper! It’s still not much, but it feels closer to an actual house than it did at the beginning! Plus James went ahead and had Iled fill in a few of the holes out front because the sound of gushing water from the broken mains was getting to him, so their yard is MARGINALLY nicer. XD
C) And, on a personal note, during their lunch and socialization breaks, the pair FINALLY accepted some flirting from each other, became best friends, and fell in love! Hence why James was able to trade their two single beds for a double. *nods* Iled now regularly seeks out Semaj to pepper kisses up his arm, aww. :) Cute stuff!
But yeah – between their crafted items and Semaj’s side hustle, the pair are doing all right! They still don’t have a lot of money, but they’re scraping by! James is already planning on opening a pottery store for Iled to sell her items in, though...so we’ll probably see that once I get to Episode 2! :) Gotta do some more catching up on Tiny Town first, though – need to watch Reuben’s finale to watch next week! Though I think I could fit in the second episode of this miniseries after that...
2. Continue working on Multiamory March prompts: Check – despite getting to it late thanks to Game Night (we played CrossClues, a game we got from my cousin – it’s all about figuring out tenuous connections between words so you can fill in a grid by offering clues to your fellow players; can be really easy or EXTRAORDINARILY difficult depending on the words you pick for the sides of the grid), I did find the time to edit another story – the prompt for “Day 10: Meet the Family,” with Modern!AU Victor and Alice meeting Smiler’s parents! With Victor being surprised both by the open affection Smiler’s parents have for them, and by Carol being so much shorter than her husband. Like, it’s not quite Everglot level, but still. XD And after wrestling with the initial rough draft so much, I’m pleased to report that the edits went a lot smoother. :) So that’s another story ready for queuing, yay~
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Half check – it being Game Night, I only really had time for one of the videos in my Subs. And me being me, I went with GrayStillPlays and “When breaking your face becomes a sport,” aka Gray plays Super Sorry! This is a game where you play as a salaryman who must apologize to his boss in the office, his wife at home, his kid in the park, and some random lady in a mall by doing increasingly elaborate flips off increasingly tall objects, before landing in the exact right pose to express his contrition. Also he couldn’t hit the person he was apologizing to or they’d suddenly turn into someone made of very violent jelly (though in her first few levels, his wife just did that on her own if he didn’t apologize fast enough). Gray of course made sure to bowl his guy into everyone at least once to see how horribly they’d wriggle and writhe. XD Actually completing the levels turned out to be a bit of a challenge, though, as the game had very specific ideas about what the proper apology pose was – if he was off just a little, it wouldn’t accept it. Plus it proved to be very hard NOT to hit the people once he started jumping from the tallest stuff, even when he WASN’T aiming at them. AND the game started throwing in random extra hazards after a while to make life more difficult. Not to mention, on the final level, he accidentally got his guy’s groin stuck in the railing on the second floor of the mall and couldn’t get unstuck. And because his guy’s feet never touched the ground, the game refused to actually fail him. Granted, that meant that he’d found the local “infinite points” glitch (and we all know how much he loves those), but still. Not great. XD Love to see a jank game get its due on the channel!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –
Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Got the “Day 8: Friends to Lovers” prompt fic into the queue for tomorrow! The post gave me a bit of trouble – I guess appropriately, as the fic did too – but I’ve got it into a shape I’m happy with. And if I really feel the need to revise, I should be able to get into the queue for a final look-over before it posts tomorrow morning. *nods* We’ll focus on getting Day 9 and Day 10 into the queue tomorrow!
Valice Multiverse – And over here, I had one anon ask to put into the queue, about how anti-woke people should be called “slept.” Cuddlepile!Alice said it worked, but she didn’t want to waste the pun on those assholes. *nods* I also technically had a reblog on one of my threads, but – I have to talk to the person involved first, because ONCE AGAIN they’re doing godmodding, and – it’s really starting to tick me off. *sigh* But later, so I don’t get too angry with them.
And there you have it! Not a bad way to end the work week. And tomorrow is a non-cleaning Saturday, so that's also good. :) Not entirely sure if I'm gonna do more Polyheart OT3 House tomorrow or more Baldur's Gate III, though...I guess we'll find out! I definitely know I'm getting Day 9 and Day 10 into my Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) tumblr queue tomorrow; working on revising more Multiamory Month prompts for the week ahead; and hopefully getting some of the OXBoxtra lists out of my Watch Later as well as keeping up with the Subs -- I'm falling behind a bit here! We'll see what happens, though, given I never seem to have as much time for stuff as I think I do...in the meantime, I definitely need my sleep. Night all!
