Another Decent Wednesday
Apr. 23rd, 2025 11:54 pmAnother day of good weather, and another day where I got a good amount done --
Work – Slightly busier day today at work, with me spending the morning doing the usual reports, going through the exceptions, then doing a bunch of phone calls, leaving messages for people whose credit card information hadn’t gone through on their pledges/gifts (and getting one person who just wanted something new mailed to her – no problem, next mailing just went out); taking a few calls from people making credit card gifts or updating their pledges/recurring gifts; calling a couple of people about second pledge cards they’d sent in with new bigger pledges (one was “keep the old one,” the other “yes please do the bigger one”); updating pledges that needed updating; and having a call with the credit card people to bring up some problems I’d noticed (not that I think any of them will be fixed anytime soon). *shrug* Definitely made the day go by! Oh, and I got a nice card and a $30 Amazon gift card from my supervisors because it was Administrative Professionals Day. :) So that was good. Dunno what I’m spending the gift card on yet, but I’ll think of something. *nods* We’ll see what tomorrow brings!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the GrayStillPlays compilation “Making every human life unbearable!” Today saw me finish Gray’s playthrough of Kuukiyomo 3: Consider It (it said which one it was at the end – and after trying his best to be as inconsiderate as possible, he got a total of 170 points out of 1,000, which is fantastic XD), and get through most of his playthrough of what I believe is the first Consider It game he played (again, if there’s a series of him playing the same game in one of these compilations, it’s almost always presented in reverse order – and he seems to be rather unfamiliar with the game in this one, so…). He is having a delightful time sitting on people’s laps, smacking into them as they try to have a nice romantic walk together, blocking everyone on the escalator, making everyone look at the boss’s open fly, attacking Isaac Newton with bees, and generally being as much of an asshole as possible. XD We’ll finish this off tomorrow with all his remaining opportunities to be a dick to virtual people!
2. Continue final edits on “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded” Chapter 3: Check – and I’m pleased to say that, this time, I did indeed finish those edits and get the chapter posted! May I present Chapter 3 of “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded,” aka “Did You Really Think He Wouldn’t Get Murdered!” The “he,” of course, being Bumby. XD So yes, now you can read about how the trio get their hands on Bumby’s ledger, and the horrible terrible death of that asshole when he catches them mid-escape, for yourselves! Hopefully you enjoy. :)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just the one GrayStillPlays video tonight, “Testing Cars vs Rubber Bands in GTA 5!” This was an interesting point-based challenge, where Gray had to take three cars – a green sedan, a white SUV, and a golden armored car – with rubber bands wrapped around them across four different courses to see how they did. The catch was, there was a script circle in front of most of the challenges, and that circle triggered the rubber bands to start crumpling the car as Gray drove, until the vehicle was so smashed up it either wouldn’t drive or just blew up (because apparently there were proximity mines hidden in the frames). So Gray was under the wire (or the rubber band) to finish each challenge as quickly as possible before his car just straight-up stopped functioning! Oh, and if he damaged the car himself, that just sped up how fast the rubber bands crushed the car… So what were the challenges, and which car won? Well, we had:
I. Gray having to get from point A to point B around a long, winding track (complete with some small walls for him to dodge at the front and a small jump at the end) – a surprisingly simple challenge, made EXCEEDINGLY difficult by his cars crumpling around him. He tried valiantly with the sedan and the SUV, but in the end the armored car’s ability to take damage better got it the point
II. Gray having to blast through eight layers of rubber (aka large and larger stacks of tires), with an official time limit of 50 seconds no less – this one was tough because a) he was taking small amounts of damage from all the tires, speeding up the crumpling of his cars as he drove, and b) all the tires were dynamic, meaning they kept getting caught under his wheels and slowing him down (or riding atop his hood for some reason). Gray gave the SUV a go, but soon yielded to the fact that the armored car would be the only one to beat THIS challenge as well and gave it its point (after a few near-misses)
III. Gray having to bounce across a trio of very buoyant giant balloons without being tossed off the challenge roadway, with each balloon I BELIEVE being in a bigger gap than the others – this was the only challenge WITHOUT a “Rubber Bands Activate” script circle in front of it, meaning the only damage Gray had to worry about was the tendency of his cars to land on their roofs. Possibly the board creators though this one would be impossible to complete if Gray was taking the extra damage, but my money is on them looking at the challenges and going “well, we gotta give the sedan and the SUV ONE chance to earn a point.” And indeed, by virtue of being lighter and thus flying farther, the SUV scored its one and only point here.
IV. Gray having to drive across a series of “cliffside” platforms, allowing yeeters placed along the sides of each to bounce him across the gap from one platform to the next, trying his best not to fly off the roadways or get hit poorly – aaand then we came to this horrible challenge and it was right back to Armored Car Supremacy. XD The rubber bands were back on for this one (though possibly the mines hidden in the frame were not, as Gray didn’t have any problems with blowing up), and between the damage they inflicted and the damage from the yeeters as they tossed him back and forth – yeah, it’s no wonder this particular challenge was just named “Survive!” But survive Gray did, getting to the end after a few tries and launching what remained of his car through the winning circle! And so the message is clear – if you have to put rubber bands around a car, put it around the armored car because that’s the only one that can properly withstand the pressure!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Substitution check – just Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) to worry about tonight, and while I didn’t get anything into the queue, I was still busy over there this evening –
A) First, I had a little reblog spree to cover a few posts that I’d seen on my dash and wanted to share around:
I. Someone going by “on-a-lucky-tide” responding to an anon ask about how nice it is to see him speaking out after the bullshit in the UK Supreme Court regarding trans women, talking about an absolutely MASSIVE protest in London that grew so huge that they had to turn it from a static protest into a march for safety reasons
II. Another post listing out some UK trans charities that people can donate to in order to support trans people over there
III. A post about how Trump’s trying to get rid of/defund the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences, and how that’s going to lead to the degradation and loss of important and fragile dinosaur fossils among other things – fortunately further down the reblog chain were some links on what’s being done to combat this nonsense
IV. And a post with pictures of more Trans Rights protests in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London – and the turnout was amazing :D Good to see people protesting against all this bullshit!
B) Then I did my post about the release of Chapter 3 of “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded,” because of course I had to announce that on my blog right away. :) I do love my Valicer In The Dark, after all!
So yeah – definitely did my fair share of stuff over here! I’ll get the Song Saturday post sorted tomorrow – I’m pretty sure I know what I want to do with it anyway.
*nods* Not too shabby -- but now I really need to go to bed, as I've been hitting the sheets later than I should lately. *sigh* Night all!
