Like, it was downright summery today temperature-wise -- high 70s! Very nice indeed, that. :) But it was also cloudier than I expected too, which kept making me wonder if the rain we're supposed to get tomorrow was going to start early. It didn't, fortunately, but I remained suspicious most of the day. There were some pretty dark clouds out there, what can I say?

Anyway -- in addition to nice weather, I had a decently productive end of the work week:

Work – A very quiet Friday to end the week – I had one credit card call this morning, right before doing the GL, and then the rest of the day was basically just doing roster maintenance stuff. *shrug* Not exactly thrilling, but I’ll take that over a horrible stressed-out day for sure! Especially since my commute home was busier than expected, at least near the end – I don’t know WHAT’S been going on with the main drag lately, but it it’s been all backed up the past couple of days. O.o Well, I don’t have to deal with it for two days, at least. Hooray there.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – one final night on the bike this week, and I spent it pedaling through “A Game About Digging A Hole - When You're In A Hole, Keep Digging” by Many A True Nerd! Because while I generally only watch Jon’s Fallout-related stuff, occasionally I’ll branch out into some of his other videos. And I figured it might be amusing to watch his take on the game that’s all about digging a big old hole in your backyard in an attempt to find the treasured promised on the flier advertising your new house! Jon was rather more methodical than the last person I watched play this game (GrayStillPlays, so, low bar to clear XD) – attempting to make a nice ramp for himself while he dug so he could walk in and out of his hole, then trying to keep himself oriented via a system of drawing dots on the walls (to try and indicate his self-chosen North and South; he also drew a smiley face at one point to indicate “hey, this is the way to get out!”) and placing lights in strategic areas to indicate whenever he broke into a new cave system. Admittedly, all of that went out the window once he got the best drill and could just reduce his yard to a mound of chewed-up dirt, but still. XD He also found the two keys necessary to unlock the chest in the shed, which Gray never did – turns out it contains an upgrade to your dynamite and a one-time-use teleporter! So that’s neat. :) However, he ended the game the same way Gray, and I imagine every other player, ends it – by finding out the treasure deep beneath his house was a fake and then getting eaten by giant hellish moles. ...Mostly because the game wouldn’t let him use the massive amounts of dynamite that he brought along with him once he learned of the moles’ existence. Shame – I would have loved to see him try to blow them up. XD But it was a fun video regardless – I need to remember to check out Jon’s one-shots more often!

2. Continue editing “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded”: Check – got another page done tonight, with Smiler recognizing the raven that attacked Bumby as the same one they befriended at Elder Gutknecht’s and officially naming it Sooty; the trio talking briefly about what might have happened if Sooty hadn’t shown up and Alice hadn’t had the bomb (Alice was pretty sure they could have taken Bumby on his own, but if June joined the fight with some of the heavy pots and pans in the kitchen...well, that would have hurt); and Smiler getting recognized by their parents (on their way back to the Ministry after a successful day of tending their shop), leading them to introduce Victor and Alice to Matt and Carol Alton! :) I left off with Alice having to admit to them that she’d gotten Smiler into some trouble – tomorrow, we cover them learning what ACTUALLY happened when they managed to get away from Sergeant Tannen and his Bluecoats! It’s, uh, not what they think. XD

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Half check – as usual for a Friday, I got to the YouTubery really late, so I only had time for the GrayStillPlays video of the night – “This game broke more than just eggs,” aka Gray plays Egg Harvester! This is a very bizarre little game where you must put large green eggs, birthed from poking worryingly-round orifices on the walls, into a large industrial grinder thing in the middle of the room. Every egg you process in this manner gives you five bucks and adds to your Eggs Per Minute (EPM), and the goal is to get your EPM up to 150 to open up a door on a high ledge. Fortunately, the strange and unknown company you work for provides you a little store from which you can buy things to help you with this task! Such as metal sheeting, wooden poles, and wooden planks so you can build ramps for the eggs to roll down and into the harvester, meaning you don’t have to carry them there yourself; stimulators to force the orifices to birth eggs on their own without you needing to poke them manually; and a jetpack so you can fly around to the highest orifices to get more of them birthing eggs into the harvester. After being initially slightly sad that he couldn’t just jump into the grinding gears of the harvester and end the game early, Gray ended up throwing himself headlong into the task of constructing the world’s shittiest and most inefficient ramps out of metal sheeting and a lack of physics, carefully papering over problems with more metal sheets and creating egg blockages so thick he had to run into them like a bowling ball to get them to clear. XD Like, seriously, there were so many eggs either getting caught in the middle of his terrible ramps, or tumbling off to the side and causing a mess on the floor, or simply breaking before they could reach the harvester. But he kept at it with the bullheaded persistence that has led to so much pain for him in GTA V – and after much trial and even more error, he finally reached the vaulted 150 EPM! Delighted, he took his jetpack and flew up to the door –

Only to be confronted with a message telling him to imagine cool new content in the doorframe. Because apparently the programmers hadn’t put in an exit or any new levels or anything yet. He was quite amused. XD But yeah, what a weird little game – exactly the kind of weird, janky, chaotic mess we love to see him play!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Substitution Check and Regular Check –

Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Didn’t do anything with the queue over here, but I did reblog a poll from my friend Newt, where you were supposed to choose something on the poll as a gift to the person you reblogged it from. I gave him “the most delicious dessert ever made” because who doesn’t like a good dessert? :) (And then Satirical Demon reblogged it from me and gifted me in the tags the seeing the “world’s smallest, roundest bird perching just outside your window,” because “everyone deserves to see a cute bird at their window.” :) Also, if you’re curious, the option most people are picking is “5 minutes of sincere belly-aching laughter w/ someone you love,” which is very sweet indeed. :) )

Valice Multiverse – Put two things in the queue over here tonight:

A) Okay, the first item needs some context – the other day, I mentioned to TheCovenWars in my last reply on our “Forgotten Vows!Alice meets Richard and now Seth Lewis” that I would probably have to move said thread over to another post starting with my next reply because things were starting to get worryingly squished on my actual blog. Tonight, however, I came into my inbox to find a fresh ask from them, allowing us to continue the thread from there without me having to do any copy-pasting at all! Nice. :) Appreciate it muchly, TheCovenWars!

Anyway – the ask had Seth tell Alice that he felt fortunate his little brother didn’t really remember the fire that burned down their house...though, sadly, he does remember just enough to be terrified of thunderstorms (as a reminder, their fire was caused by a lightning strike). Alice agreed that was unfortunate, but that it also could have been worse – after all, she remembers the fire that took her family from her, and – yeah. She wouldn’t wish memories like that on anyone. :( I feel like there is a lot of trauma-bonding going on between her and the two brothers here – we’ll see what happens tomorrow in this new thread branch!

B) And as for the second item, I just stuck a reblog of my Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) post on Chapter 3 of “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded” in there, as is my wont. Why not, right?

Other: Answered a nice comment from The Satirical Demon (aka Raptorianator) on Chapter 3 of “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded” – he was pleased that I’d gotten the inspiration for Bumby getting attacked by the raven that will become Sooty from his comment about Bumby inadvertently making enemies with the library ravens (because even they seemed shocked by his activities when Alice revealed just what he was doing to the orphans under his care) at the end of “Start At The Beginning...Sort Of!” :) I was just happy to find the perfect opportunity to introduce Sooty and establish him as the trio’s first pet myself. :)

Yeah, that's all very nice, if I do say so myself. :) And now it's time for me to wrap up some stuff before I head to bed. Tomorrow is supposed to be much cooler and rainy -- good thing it's a Cleaning & Laundry Saturday and thus I'd be spending all my time inside anyway. :p Other goals include getting more edited on "A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded;" seeing if I can get back into Baldur's Gate III (in fact, I'm planning on checking at least some of my mods before hitting the sheets); and seeing if I can get in the latest OXBox list, the riff from Josh I missed today, and the latest from GrayStillPlays. Hopefully this is all possible -- we'll see tomorrow, I suppose! Night all!
