For me and Dad, actually -- he finally managed to get his dentures back in today! He hasn't put them in since this whole mess started because he couldn't get them to stay, but today he tried them out so he could have hot dogs and fries for supper. The top plate was fine, but apparently the bottom plate doesn't fit quite right -- fortunately, he has a dentist appointment on Monday where he can get them to fix that. *nods* Here's hoping it goes well!

As for me:

Cleaning & Laundry: Twas another long Cleaning Saturday, but we’re not surprised by that these days, are we? I started the whole process at around 10:40 AM; broke for lunch shortly after 1 PM, with almost all of my dusting completed; then picked up again around 1:50 PM and finished the last of my dusting, along with my Swiffering and vacuuming, by 2:40 PM (all the while listening to someone play a “lone wolf” version of Baldur’s Gate 3 with an asshole nobleman dwarf Great Old One Warlock (who was constantly screwing over the “peasants”), and then someone else go through the BG3 take on the warlock class and the three pre-final-patch subclasses (Fiend, Great Old One, and Archfey) in detail – it was what I was in the mood for!). First load of laundry, meanwhile, went into the washer around 11:50 AM, and the second load came out around 4:10 PM. *shrug* Just the way of things – and at least I have the pleasure of knowing I won’t have to do it next weekend!

Little Corners: I returned to my virtual stickerbook game today after I was done with the cleaning/first round of laundry, and I’m happy to say that I had a mostly good time with it, with just a bit of unfortunate screwiness at the end –

A) After folding up my sheets, I loaded up my latest save and proceeded to pick up where I’d left off with my latest project – the Ruins corner! You know, the one that is two broken-down walls and features stickers of things like a sad skeleton that you can dress in rusty armor, broken-down pillars and old fountains, lots of plants, and – if you can unlock it – an adorable squirrel in his own rusty armor! :D Here’s what I did with that today:

I. I moved the “nest full of baby birds being fed by their parent” sticker I unlocked last time off the big squat pillar I’d put them on at the end of my first session and onto a convenient little ledge on the crumbling left-hand wall above, and got rid of the squat pillar entirely – decided I didn’t actually like the look of it in the end. That’ll happen sometimes!

II. I decided the dirt floor looked way too brown and put a couple of clumps of green stuff (I’m not sure if it’s intended to be moss or grass) down to break it up a bit – one big one partially underneath the broken cobblestones I’d put down before on the far left (mostly because it had a nice little notch at one end that I could line up perfectly with one of the rocks there), and another smaller one partially under the stump that serves as the pedestal for Sir Squeeks on the other side of the room. Just added a little color to the place, you know?

III. I stuck a wall-mounted fountain with a rusty tap and some standing water in its two basins – one small high one and a much bigger low one – against the left-hand wall underneath the birds’ nest, and added a little “mini waterfall” sticker showing water flowing from the high basin to the low one. Just because I thought it looked nice (though I was a little sorry to find I couldn’t put in two little waterfalls – the other one wouldn’t fit nicely against the rim at the angle I was working with. Shame!).

IV. I moved the dandelions I’d placed in my last session over to the area by the new wall fountain, placing them in the gaps between the cobblestones, then moved the grass clump growing “outside” in the doorway sticker right next to said fountain to cover up an ugly brown spot there. *nods* Gotta get those plants in!

V. Speaking of which, I then started adjusting the placement of the flowers around the big tiered fountain in the front – before pausing for a moment to get a couple more small clumps of green moss/grass and stick them into the gaps of the cobblestones around it, because I felt like they had too many brown spots as well (and some of the plants I had looked like they’d they were supposed to sprout out of green grass rather than just bare soil). After putting a little bit of extra green under the set in front of the tiered fountain, and one under the set behind it, I then went back and continued rearranging flowers – moving a little clump of yellow buttercups from behind the fountain to in front of it; adjusting the placement of the big lilac “trumpets” in front of the fountain a tad; moving the violets from over by the stump to in front of the fountain; and moving the single big red flower from next to the fountain to over in the far right corner by the stump, and the clump of big red flowers closer to the edge of the “floor.” I also moved the strawberry plant so it was next to the stump, beside the non-armored squirrel sitting there, because it looked better on the green grass I’d put next to said stump. Basically, there was a lot of moving around of flowers!

VI. Moving the flowers also meant moving the bees I’d previously placed on them (a tricky job that required me to zoom in) – one ended up going on top of the lilac “trumpets” I’d put in front of the fountain, while the other remained roughly in the same place, flying toward the strawberries I’d moved. *nod* Just a nice little extra touch, I felt!

VII. I added another, larger clump of grass to the other side of the wall fountain (growing up by the left-hand curve of the bottom basin) and put some dandelion leaves (minus actual dandelions) into one of the cracks of the cobblestones around it to cover up more ugly spots – then realized that, at some point, I’d accidentally screwed up my layering and put the “spilling water” sticker behind the actual fountain. Fortunately, it was quickly fixed once I moved the fountain out of the way and made sure the “spilling water” was on the layer OVER the fountain itself, but still. That was a little annoying. I cheered myself up by putting a tiny snail on the rim of the bottom basin. :p

VIII. I added another flower to the group around the tiered fountain because I felt like there needed to be more flowers there – a single curving bloom of what I think are meant to be bluebells? They’re little blue blobs that grow from a curving leaf, so that’s my best guess. XD

IX. After a few failed experiments early on, I finally figured out how to unlock the final “hidden sticker” I was missing! The hint was “these ruins are awful cold,” so I knew it had something to do with fire – and the sticker’s silhouette was roughly door-shaped, so I thought had something to do with the two door stickers available on the sheets. Turns out, I was right about the first, but wrong about the second – after trying to trigger the unlock by putting a “tiny flame” sticker on the “dead campfire” sticker, and putting the “lit campfire” sticker near the skeletal knight and in the doorway, I finally managed to do it by putting a “tiny flame” sticker on the big old “dead brazier” sticker. Turns out the unlocked sticker depicted, as per the achievement, a dungeon entrance – a big stone skull-topped archway with stairs leading down. Not appropriate to my current build, but that’ll be nice to have if I come back to this corner again and decide to do a different take on it!

X. I put a nice plaque on the right-hand wall, behind the knight’s propped-up sword and across from the little wall nook where one of the birds was sitting on its nest – just thought it looked nice, and added a bit more visual interest to that wall! I also added a bedroll to the late knight’s camp over there, putting it beside his shield and adjusting the placement of his gone-cold fire and the nearby sunflower to fit it. Again, adds a bit more visual interest!

XI. I considered putting a big old hollow log behind the stump, to suggest the tree that used to be there – but decided it was too big and unwieldy for the spot where I felt it should go. One of the bigger branches also didn’t look right, so in the end I settled for a few scattered sticks. *shrug* Better than nothing!

XII. After looking at it for a bit longer, I decided I didn’t actually like the big clump of red flowers growing out of the green grass I’d placed by the edge of the “floor” (mostly because their roots were so muddy) and instead moved them behind the tiered fountain before replacing them with a little bush of blue, pink, and white flowers. Filled the space better and looked nicer to boot!

XIII. I put a little sprouting tree in the “outside” area visible through the doorway, and adjusted the placement of that and the little sprouting plant I’d already placed out there until I was happy with both. Which was a little tricky, as I kept accidentally grabbing the doorway sticker itself and slightly moving it, which I then had to undo. *grumbles* Gotta be very careful where you click in this game!

XIV. Wanting some more mushrooms around the place, I put some red-and-white ones growing by the side of the wall-mounted fountain, and some brown “umbrella cap” mushrooms growing by the tiered fountain. *shrug* Just felt appropriate, you know? All that water has to result in a LITTLE fungus here and there.

XV. I added a little white bunny by the dandelions growing by the wall-mounted fountain, eyeing up those dandelion leaves, because why not, it’s cute. :p

XVI. And I briefly considered putting a torch sconce or two on the wall by the doorway, but decided I didn’t like the look of it (especially since the doorway sticker I was using had some leftover masonry on one side of the arch, but not the other, so the two torches didn’t look “even” when I tried to place them).

A very busy session, I think you will agree!

B) Having done all I really wanted to do during this playsession (at the very least, I couldn’t think of anything more I wanted to cram in there at the time), I decided it was time to take a screenshot and close up shop. I thus put the whole thing on the “starfield” background (as I didn’t think any of the others suited it), took my screenshot, saved the game, noted my new achievement, then exited Steam. I then went to go look at my new screenshot and get it ready for posting –

Only to, uh, not find it. Because it wasn’t in the place where I expected it to be (the “Little Corners” folder in my main Pictures folder). O.o After trying unsuccessfully to figure out where the hell it could have saved, I went “well, fuck it, let’s load up the save again and take another one – no big deal, right?” I thus reopened Steam, reopened the game, and reopened my save, fixing the background again (as it always reverts to the “green blueprint mat on a desk” background whenever you reload) before making sure the “save” location for the screenshot was properly designated and all that and redoing my screenshot! Which you can see below:

A Little Corners screenshot showing the Ruins corner with two fountains, a skeleton knight dressed in rusty armor, some broken masonry, and a shitload of plants everywhere...but, curiously, no doorway into the space...

Nice, huh? Except...well. Notice anything missing? Something rather important that was one of the first stickers I placed? Something, like, say, a way to enter the room?

Yup – right after I took that screenshot, I took another look at the corner and went “what the fuck – where’s my door??” And then I got out of “screenshot” mode and back into “decorating” mode and saw this:

A Steam Screenshot of Little Corners, showing the doorway missing from my Ruins corner, and a bunch of stickers on the wrong page, being overlapped by other stickers, next to it

Yuuuup – remember how back in January, I had an issue with my Tavern corner where the tables and my “bar” bookcases ended up in the Ruins corner when I first tried to start it after saving the Tavern one? And then, when I went back to the Tavern to fix things, not only had my items disappeared from the scene there, the sticker sheets had gone screwy, with stickers appearing on the wrong sheets under other stickers? It happened again! And I have no idea what triggered it! *grumbles* Fuck’s sake...what the hell is going on with this stupid thing??

C) Anyway – the one good thing is that only ONE item went missing from my Ruins corner during the save-and-reload: the doorway I’d used. And that was clearly visible on the sticker sheet, even with all the wrong stickers on the wrong page. So, after getting my screenshot of the stickers having gone screwy, I just replaced it and got a PROPER screenshot for all of you to enjoy:

A Little Corners screenshot of the Ruins corner with its two fountains, skeletal knight in rusted armor in his corner camp, and all the flowers, THIS time with a door into the space

There, see, isn’t it nicer with the damn archway in? :p I then saved the corrected file under a new name, exited the game again –

And when I opened Firefox, I immediately went to the Little Corners website, tracked down the one e-mail address I could find, and sent an e-mail telling the people who made the game about the glitches and providing the two screenshots I’d taken through Steam of the fucked up Tavern and Ruins corners. I have no idea if they’re going to get back to me, or if I even e-mailed the right people, but hey – at least I tried.

And that was my gaming for the day – fun for the most part, then frustrating at the end because the game is ever-so-slightly broken. *sigh* I want to like this game, I really do! It’s fun in a relaxing way – if you like decorating spaces, this is a good game for you! But I’d like them to fix these glitches before I try playing again – it’s frustrating, having shit disappear out of your very-carefully-decorated rooms! Especially important shit like tables and doorways. Meeeh…

Writing: I got almost two pages of Chapter 6 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” edited tonight, I am pleased to report. :D Said two pages featured:

A) Alice, Van, Terrence, and Mercurio being escorted out of LaCroix’s office by the Sheriff – Alice saying that she’d see LaCroix when she had the sarcophagus in hand, and LaCroix going back to his city-gazing with an annoyed “nothing is ever easy in this city,” which Alice had to give him – and Van stating how relieved he was that LaCroix didn’t chew him, Terrence, or Mercurio out...before sheepishly going “No offense” to Alice XD

B) Alice telling Van that she wouldn’t take offense – but as that comment had been a bit rude, she’d take anything he knew on Gary and the Nosferatu, as her own experience with the clan was limited. Unfortunately, Van didn’t know much about Gary in particular – he and Terrence hadn’t been down to Hollywood since the Camarilla entered L. A., since it was solidly Anarch territory – but he was able to tell her that the Nosferatu, while not easy on the eyes, were a clan you didn’t get on the bad side of, as they knew everything about everybody. Terrence followed that up by stating they were tight-knit too, and if you pissed off one, you pissed off the lot...before quickly reassuring the suddenly-uneasy Alice that she shouldn’t see any reprisals for killing Brother Kanker; his decision to join a Gehenna death cult dedicated to spreading disease had probably made him persona non grata among the Nossies before she got to him

C) Terrence then telling Alice that the best advice he could give her when it came to dealing with Gary was to be polite, as he loved screwing with rude people (well, people in general, but ESPECIALLY rude ones) – Cheshire, however, told Alice that his take should be tempered, as Gary’s idea of “rudeness” might be a little askew from the norm, and he did enjoy it when people matched wits with him. Alice noted this and said she hoped Gary had wits worth matching

D) Alice confirming that none of the men had an idea of where to start looking for Gary – Terrence confirming he and Van had not been in Hollywood in ages, and Mercurio saying that he’d been stuck in Santa Monica all this time, so Alice was going to have to rely on Isaac’s good graces (though if she wanted to see him to get some gear, he had some new goodies to share with her). Alice, curious, asked how things were going in Santa Monica – Mercurio immediately bitched that they were boring, even with this sarcophagus business –

Only for Van to tell him things would be getting more interesting soon, as Therese Voerman had petitioned LaCroix for the position of Prince of Santa Monica, and was likely to get it. Mercurio noted that this was probably why Jeannette had loudly decided to go officially Anarch and pester Nines for a Baronship, and that she was likely to get it too, causing Terrence to complain that the city would end up neutral ground just because those two couldn’t stop fighting. He followed up with that it at least made it easy to keep them distracted…

While Alice quietly noted that the sisters’ plan to see who wanted them distracted fighting was working out perfectly. They just had to hope that no one noticed they were never in the same room together! XD

E) And Alice heading out with the excuse that she had to do some “housekeeping” before her trip to Hollywood – then warding off a somewhat-suspicious Terrence by saying that she needed to pack (as it would probably be smarter to rent a hotel room down in Hollywood rather than constantly going back and forth) and get a snack (as she’d burned a lot of blood in the museum). He bought it and told her just to get herself down there sooner rather than later – she promised that she’d head out tomorrow evening at the latest, and parted ways with the men (Mercurio jokingly telling her not to get murdered).

Hooray for progress! We’re now about seven pages from the end now, folks – next time, we’ll pick up with Alice asking the Wonderlanders if she actually convinced Terrence that she wasn’t about to immediately run off to the Last Round and warn Nines about the Blood Hunt. XD

Other: I got to these a little later than I’d intended, but I did get to them – and now Moose’s messages are all answered again! Sorry about the long pause, but – that just seems to happen between us, doesn’t it? :p

So yes, all goals achieved for today, w000~ And now it is time for me to go to bed and try to get some sleep. Tomorrow's goals: Either work on some of my drafts or go through my tracked tags on Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler); revise my gift fic for Newt so it's ready to go on the 26th; play some Portal 2 and conquer at least one more test chamber; get in a workout; and watch Jon's latest F:NV YOLO Remastered episode (HOPEFULLY those last two can be combined, but who knows anymore). We'll see how I do on those -- night all!
