From [livejournal.com profile] anonymoose_au: Top 5 Muse Moments

1. The flood of OckDoc plotbunnies that preceded the arrival of OckDoc himself. Has to count as one of the weirder moments of my virtual life.

2. TeenDoc and company showing up RIGHT BY MY SHOULDER as muses, scaring the crap out of me. Seriously, that came out of fricking nowhere for me.

3. HatterDoc randomly declaring himself the humor muse after setting up shop in my headspace. I seem to have a talent for muses randomly appearing and refusing to leave.

4. The trip to Florida, and the highlight of the trip for Tie-Twister Victor being seeing The Truman Show for the first time. I just thought it hilarious that he was such a Jim Carrey fanboy. XD

5. Handing over the deed to the Inkwell to Clockwork, then called Rift!Doc. I had no idea it would lead to all the things it has in this headspace.

It has been too hot and sticky for real inspiration today, I'm afraid. Though I did get a few things done -- I finished off "Love Will Find A Way" at work, and I rearranged Overly Plotted Bunnies to show that "Solicitor's Ward" is now it's own universe with distinct fics. I still need to write up plotline summaries for the new ones, but at least there's spaces for them.
Speaking of fic, I'm in the mood -- let's have some Victor/Alice:

18. “Say ahh. . .” – Sick Day
“All right, say ‘ahh.’”
Victor obediently opened his mouth. Alice slid the thermometer under his tongue. After a few minutes, she checked the temperature. “Still 101,” she sighed, wiping the thermometer clean on her apron. She patted Victor’s forehead. “I think you’re going to be spending the day in bed.”
“But I can’t,” Victor protested, voice raspy. “Who’s going to help you with Chester?”
“Hatter’s here already, and I can call on any number of my other friends to help beside,” Alice said firmly. “You know that. And no talk about my ‘delicate condition.’ Pregnant or not, I can take care of myself.”
Victor groaned softly. “Yes, I know. Apparently I’m the one who can’t. This is the second time I’ve gotten sick during one of your pregnancies. Why must I have such rotten luck?”
“I don’t know,” Alice said sympathetically, sitting on the edge of the bed. “At least this time it appears to be just the flu or something similar. I’d prefer not to go through a repeat of what happened last time.”
Victor shuddered. “Me either. Appendicitis isn’t fun.” He looked pitifully up at her. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. It’s hardly your fault you got sick.” She leaned down to kiss him.
Victor pulled away. “No, don’t kiss me. I don’t want you to get sick too. You’ve got enough to deal with.”
Alice settled for a quick peck on his forehead. “All right. I’m going to go check on Chester and Hatter, then I’m going to the Elder Mayor for some medicine,” she said, getting back up with a slight grunt.
“Will it taste of mushrooms again?”
“I think they all do.” Alice tousled his hair. “Try and get some sleep.”
“I’ll try,” Victor promised, turning onto his side. Alice smiled and started for the door. “Oh, and Alice?”
“Hmm?”
“Thank you for correcting Hatter when he came back with the – other – thermometer.”
Alice couldn’t help a snort of laughter. “I couldn’t let him. You’re in enough pain as it is.” She blew him a kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”

-TTV: *gives me a bit of the stinkeye*-
I'm sorry, but I HAD to make that joke. It was mandatory.
-HD: We have the license and everything, look. *shows TTV a piece of paper*-
-TTV: *stares* Um -- all right then. . .-
*giggles* I pretty much knew what I wanted to do with this one from the beginning. "Say ahh" is pretty much the standard line for anyone offering anyone else a thermometer, so. . . . I decided to set it during Alice's second pregnancy just for a joke -- Alice feels (relatively) fine whenever she gets pregnant, it's always VICTOR who ends up feeling like shit.
-TTV: *grumbles* As per usual.-
-D: It's a noted issue with being one of her "favorites."-
*sticks out tongue at* The appendicitis thing they mention is an incident from the "Alice pregnant" SW-verse fic I'm planning out -- Victor actually almost dies because of it. He pulls through, but it's close for a bit there. I'm pretty sure I was inspired by the concept of one of [livejournal.com profile] foxywriter's fics, where Marty gets it while in the past while Jennifer's pregnant -- though I didn't realize the similarities for some time. I'd change it, but I can't think of anything else that quite goes with how I want that whole scene to proceed. It's hardly a direct lift --
-DW: It hasn't even been written yet!-
Yes, there's that too. Here, though, Victor's just got a nasty flu.
-TTV: And what about the third time?-
Actually, I'm thinking the Lorina pregnancy will be a bit harder on Alice in general, so Victor's actually going to manage to stay healthy for that one.
-TTV: . . . I think if he had his choice, he'd rather be the one sick.-
Yeah, I know. Other notes: The Gnome Elder is a character from the early stages of the game, when Alice is in the mining town and the skool. I imagine him as a fairly wise figure -- perhaps not as wise as Caterpillar, but the Elder just smokes a pipe, not a hookah. He dispenses potions and such to help people, hence why Alice is going to him for medicine. The mention of it tasting like mushrooms is a reference to the size-changing mushroom Alice encountered after meeting the Caterpillar. It's gotten stuck in my head that mushrooms contain a lot of magic in Wonderland, and that all the size-changing stuff contains a bit of them as at least one ingredient.
-WRM: Just have to remember which half is which.-
Exactly. And of course there's the "rectal versus oral" thermometer joke, which, again, I had to make. Just couldn't resist. The title is nothing special -- just something I settled on after being unable to come up with anything better.

And now I have a comment to go answer. Hi-ho LJ, away!
