The Doll Situation
As copied from my response to one of [livejournal.com profile] martyfan's comments:
"Actually, you know what happened after I packed up shop for the night and went to get ready for bed? As I was putting Alice in her usual spot, the pin holding her knife to her hand suddenly fell out. I started to replace it, then decided perhaps it was a message saying "If you don't want Victor Plush being creepy, maybe you should let his friend here into the bed proper." So she joined the group, and the furthest he wiggled out of position was ending up sideways behind her."

So -- yeah. Make of that what you will.
-VDM: Do you think DGVictor and Alice would be pleased, confused, or frightened to learn that their relationship can apparently be transferred to dolls?-
I think we can make a strong case for DGVictor freaking out, at least.

Tomorrow's Plans
It's mall trip time again, and it's another movie trip. After hearing good things about it, and enjoying the trailers, I'm off to go see "How To Train Your Dragon." This necessitates getting up at 7 to make sure I get to the mall in plenty of time, but sacrifices must be made. Plus, I'm hoping to pick up some stuff while I'm down there.

Fic
Still working mainly on "Condolences" and "Love Will Find A Way." And since I haven't posted any in a while, let's have some 30 Dances. And let's have more Anna Lived Miniverse while we're at it.

The AL Miniverse:
Entry the First: Falling For You
Entry the Second: Dress You Up
Entry the Third: Ballroom Blitz
Entry the Fourth: It's A Love Story
Entry the Fifth:

8. Swept Off Your Feet – Crazy For You
Something was strange with Wonderland.
Well, stranger. The sun seemed brighter, the sky bluer. The birds were singing cheerier songs, and the fields were positively bursting with multicolored flowers. But what had really gotten the Cheshire Cat’s attention were the butterflies. There had to be thousands – perhaps millions – of them flitting about. Not just the usual bread-and-butterflies, either – these came in all shapes, sizes, and colors. It was this puzzling infestation of insect life that made Cheshire decide it was time to seek out Alice.
He found her by one of the brooks crisscrossing Looking-Glass Land, gazing dreamily into the water. “You seem to be in a good mood,” he said, appearing next to her. “I take it that dance wasn’t as awful as you thought it would be.”
“It was wonderful,” Alice sighed, lazily dragging her fingers through the water. “Absolutely fantastic.”
If he could have frowned, Cheshire would have. This really wasn’t like her. “Alice, forgive me for speaking so plainly, but – are you feeling all right?”
Alice blinked and looked up. “I beg your pardon?”
“You seem about ready to rise up off the ground of your own volition. You’ve never been this – floaty.”
Alice grinned, looking a bit more herself. “Oh. Well, I was just ruminating on how delicious Master Van Dort’s lips taste.”
Aaaahhhhh. That explained pretty much everything. Cheshire smirked at her, teeth gleaming. “I see. Tall, dark, and handsome finally worked up the nerve to kiss you, then?”
“Actually, I kissed him,” Alice admitted with a chuckle. “Rather forcefully. But he didn’t try to fight me off. And just moments earlier, he – he said he loved me.” She suddenly scooped the Cat into her arms. “He loves me, Cheshire!”
Cheshire bore the sudden affection with patience learned from sleeping at the Duchess’s hearth for years. Besides, he had to admit, he was happy for Alice. Her growing affection for her friend Victor had often been a topic of conversation in Wonderland. It was good to learn he returned her feelings, and they wouldn’t have to try and soothe a broken heart anytime soon. “Do your aunt and uncle approve of the match?”
“They do, which is a relief,” Alice nodded, scratching his ears. Then her expression darkened a bit. “His family, on the other hand. . . . His mother and sister are simply horrid, Cheshire. The nastiest sort of social climbers. Anna even tried to convince me Victor didn’t actually care for me! And the father seems to lack any personality of his own, beyond a love of fish. I haven’t the slightest idea how Victor was born to that lot.”
Cheshire flicked his tail. “Aberrations happen in all families. Be glad it worked out in your favor.” He swatted an oversized paw at a passing butterfly. “Would I be correct in assuming your good mood is responsible for the sudden influx of flying pests?”
“They’re not pests, they’re butterflies,” Alice protested. “They’re completely harmless.”
“Yes, but since when have you been interested in entomological life on this scale?”
Alice suddenly blushed. “Well – Victor likes them,” she said softly.
That gave Cheshire pause. He looked up at her, eyes widening. “Alice,” he said slowly, “you’re not planning to bring him here, are you?”
Alice looked back at the water for a moment before answering. “I’d like to, Cheshire. Once we’ve had a few proper dates. I think he’d like it here.” She looked at the Cat again. “He really is a sweetheart. Polite, funny, intelligent. . . .” Some of her dreaminess from before returned. “Oh, and you should see him dance. . . .”
Cheshire rubbed his head against her chin. “This is your domain, Alice. You may do what you will with it. Just be sure your paramour can take the shock. He seems rather – fragile to me.”
“He’s hardier than he looks,” Alice retorted.
“I hope so, for his sake.” Cheshire faded out, thinking hard. He wasn’t sure if he approved of this – bringing a stranger to Wonderland seemed a recipe for disaster. But then again, Wonderland had seen far worse changes, and managed to survive. Whatever chaos a new person would bring, they could counter. Besides, perhaps Victor would be good for their world.
After all, any land with a queen also needed a king.

Okay, who wants to be the first to say, "I bet Cheshire's going to regret thinking that."
This was an interesting story, mostly because it was here that I decided that the AL Miniverse involved a Wonderland you could physically go to. I actually wasn't sure at the moment whether I wanted it to be a real place or all in Alice's head. However, the Swept Off Your Feet prompt seemed to demand Alice mooning around somewhere, and the thought of her happily filling Wonderland with butterflies was too good to pass up. (If you're wondering, Wonderland's a mental construct in "Love Will Find A Way" and "The Tale," though it's doubtful Alice will ever actually mention her childhood playland in the latter. Basically, if it's a crossover where the Wonderland characters have a chance to appear as people in the outside world, Wonderland itself will be all in Alice's head.)
The brooks in Looking-Glass Land are what separate the various squares -- Alice crosses them in the second book in her journey to become a queen. It seemed a nice spot for her to be hanging out. The mention of Cheshire having learned patience at the Duchess's hearth refers to the fact that the Duchess's house is not a nice place to be -- what with all the pepper and throwing things and such. The brief mention of him not being able to frown is a bit of my own personal fanon -- poor Cheshire just CAN'T stop smiling. He can lessen it, and use his eyes and eyebrows to denote other emotions, but he's stuck with a permagrin. Such is the life of a Cheshire Cat.
Not much else to say about this one -- it takes place pretty much the day after the ball, and sets up what would be Victor's introduction to Wonderland in the proper story version, should I ever choose to write it. And yes, Cheshire WOULD regret thinking that in the proper story. Just because it's not "Solicitor's Ward" doesn't mean we don't have to deal with the King. I'll explain more in the next installment.
Title: It's from the Madonna song Crazy For You. The song actually describes a meeting at a dance, so it's quite appropriate. :p

And that's all. Time to go to bed and hope my dolls aren't going to be creepy.
