Ahhh, Lazy Saturdays

A day with no pressures on ya, where you can watch Shrek and just laze around the house, does wonders for a person.
-VD2: Good to see you back in a decent mood.-
It's good to be back in a decent mood. I think we should celebrate with some fanfic. Who wants some more Victor/Alice stuff?
11. Score – Kiss The Girl Already!
(Open on the interior of a rather upscale restaurant. There’s lots of fancy wood paneling on the walls, little red candles in the middle of the tables, slightly dimmed lights, even an area for dancing in the middle. Pan along until focusing in on one particular couple who have just been shown to their table. The couple consists of a tall, thin, pale young man with thick black hair and large brown eyes– VICTOR – and a significantly shorter, thin, somewhat healthier-colored young woman with long auburn hair and large green eyes – ALICE.
The waiter lingers as Victor seats Alice and takes his place across from her, then hands them their menus before departing. Alice opens her menu and starts studying it. Victor does the same, but is soon distracted by the sight of his date. As he watches her, MUSIC begins to play:)
There you see her,
Sitting there across the way
She don’t got a lot to say,
But there’s something about her. . . .
(Alice notices Victor’s staring and glances up. Victor gives her a dreamy smile. She returns it. Focus in on her face as the music continues.)
And you don’t know why,
But you’re dying to try,
You want to kiss the girl.
(Cut back to Victor, still looking rather lovestruck as he continues gazing at her.)
Yes, you want her,
Look at her, you know you do
(Cut to Alice, giving Victor a rather flirty, come-hither look. It’s obvious she’s expecting something.)
It’s possible she wants you too,
There is one way to ask her. . . .
(Cut to side view. Victor takes a breath, very slowly starts to lean in across the table–)
It don’t take a word
Not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl (kiss the girl)
(– aaaand loses his nerve. He blushes, retreats, and hides behind his menu. Alice, who’d been starting to lean in too, looks startled and a bit disappointed.)
Sha-la-la-la-la, my oh my
Looks like the boy’s too shy
Ain’t gonna kiss the girl
(Victor peeks over the top of his menu at Alice, still blushing. He offers her a shy, apologetic half-smile. Alice gives him an encouraging grin in return. Victor manages to smile properly for a moment, but then returns to his menu with an embarrassed sigh.)
Sha-la-la-la-la, ain’t that sad,
It’s such a shame, too bad,
You’re gonna miss the girl.
Go on and kiss the girl (kiss the girl)
(Cut to after dinner – there’s a hint of classical music under the main track. Victor, apparently wanting to make up for his failed attempt at a kiss, stands and offers his hand to Alice. She accepts it, and he leads her to the dance floor. They begin waltzing. As they slowly revolve, cut in close on Victor’s face – he’s starting to stare again.)
Now’s your moment,
Floating in a blue lagoon
Boy, you’d better do it soon,
No time will be better. . . .
(Or will it? Just then, a small child races across the dance floor, bumping Alice’s legs. Alice subsequently trips and grabs onto Victor for balance. Victor catches her and holds her up. Alice looks up – cut to a side view tight on their faces, showing that they’re only inches away from each other. They stare at each other, blushing. Will they?)
She don’t say a word
And she won’t say a word
Until you kiss the girl (kiss the girl)
(They won’t. Victor breaks his gaze to make sure Alice is okay, still blushing fiercely. Alice again looks rather disappointed, but assures Victor silently that she’s okay, and they continue to dance. Victor’s expression suggests he’s mentally kicking himself.)
Sha-la-la-la-la, my oh my
Looks like the boy’s too shy
Ain’t gonna kiss the girl.
Sha-la-la-la-la, ain’t that sad,
It’s such a shame, too bad,
You’re gonna miss the girl.
(Close up on Victor’s face. He frowns, then bites his lower lip briefly. He looks back at Alice. He seems to be steadying himself for another attempt at this kissing thing.)
Sha-la-la-la-la, don’t be scared,
You’d better be prepared,
Go on and kiss the girl.
(He takes a deep breath, starts leaning forward–)
Sha-la-la-la-la, don’t stop now,
Don’t try to hide it how,
You wanna kiss the girl,
Go on and kiss the girl.
(– and another couple collides with them, nearly knocking them both over and completely ruining the mood. Victor glares at them before sighing and escorting Alice back off the dance floor.
Move to a montage of them walking back to Alice’s home. They’re holding hands as best they can. Victor keeps glancing at their intertwined fingers, while Alice keeps glancing hopefully at him.)
Kiss the girl,
Kiss the girl,
Kiss the girl
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Go on and kiss the girl,
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Go on and (kiss the girl)
(Finally, they arrive at Alice’s front door. Alice turns to face him with an expectant smile. Close up on her face, then on Victor’s. Cut back to side view – he leans in again – but his nerves fail him again. To cover, he lifts her hand and kisses that instead.)
Sha-la-la-la-la, my oh my
Looks like the boy’s too shy,
Ain’t gonna kiss the girl.
Sha-la-la-la-la, ain’t that sad,
It’s such a shame, too bad,
You’re gonna miss the girl.
(Victor gives Alice a rather melancholy-looking smile, then turns to leave. He looks rather depressed. Suddenly, he stops, feeling a tap on his back.)
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Go on and kiss the girl!
(He turns to see Alice grinning at him. Before he can properly react, she grabs his tie and pulls him down for a soulful kiss!)
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Go on and kiss the girl!
(Victor’s startled for a moment – then he closes his eyes and lifts her into his arms, happily returning the smooch. Pan out, then fade out.)
Go on and kiss the girl
Kiss the girl (kiss the girl)
Go on and kiss the girl!
Songfic time! I knew I wanted to do a story around "Kiss The Girl," simply because the lyrics "my oh my, looks like the boy's too shy" seem MADE for Victor. I came up with the idea of Victor and Alice going on a date together to a fancy restaurant, Victor trying and failing to kiss her a couple of times, then finally getting said kiss at the end. I couldn't really build a proper story around the idea, though, so I resorted to this. I think it works well enough for prompt-fic.
-TTV: Is this supposed to be a particular Victor and Alice?-
No, it's just a generalized coupling. Though it seems like it leans a little toward a modernized version of the pair, doesn't it? Hmmm. *shrug*
Anyway, trivia -- this story was originally married to the Candlelight prompt, since I was thinking the restaurant they went to was lit by candles on the tables (ambiance, don't you know). However, shortly after I wrote it, I came up with Dancing In The Dark, which fit that prompt a lot better. So I searched through the other prompts, and realized that this one could fit "Score." Yeah, I know a movie score is usually about the background music, without lyrics, but it was as close as I could get. (Soundtrack wasn't a prompt.)
I also wasn't sure how to end it for the longest time -- the way I pictured it, it could go either a) Alice grabs Victor for the kiss, or b) Victor goes "hell with it" and grabs Alice for the kiss after the last aborted attempt. I eventually went with the former, as it seemed a bit funnier. Alice does seem to initiate the kissing a lot with them.
As for the song itself, this is the Ashley Tisdale version, not the original movie version. I happen to like Ashley's take, sue me. Plus, it's longer and thus fit the structure better.
And finally, concerning the title -- come on, you were thinking it too, weren't you? XD
-TTV: *rolls eyes*-
And now, time for more random web-wanderings.
