25 Days of Multiverse #6

*yawn* It's been kind of a long day for me, though I've weathered it pretty well. Workshop went very well -- we continued talking about skills, and the instructors introduced us to a new site, ISeek.org. It's intended to help people in Minnesota find jobs, but the various skills and workplace values (what you really want to experience in your next job) assessments can help anyone get an idea for the kind of career to which you're best suited. Mine kept coming up with stuff like "Chemical Technician," though, which -- well, I don't particularly WANT to work with chemicals. I did find some good leads on writing and typing jobs that might have a future, though. We also talked about dream jobs and how to deal with stress. All in all, a good class. And now I don't go back until the 12th, so yay long break. :P
The one bad part is that, again, I'm badly behind on everything (I can't get on the CCRI wi-fi, and I've decided the break times I get -- before, after, and the lunch break -- are better spent writing), so I'm gonna have to do a massive catch-up on Twitter and Tumblr. Before I do that, though, I shall give you your next drabble:
Day Six:
“Man – it’s great to be home for the holidays. I missed too many Christmases with you, Jen.”
“You only missed two,” Jennifer pointed out, giggling.
“Still. . . .” Marty gave her a kiss. “You were always on my mind this time of year.”
“So were you.” Jennifer snuggled close. “Tell me again about Christmas in Secundus?”
“Why? That eager to know how I celebrated without you?”
“More eager to know how you celebrated with Victor.”
“I’m that obvious, huh?” Marty sighed. “Sorry. It’s just – he was one of my best friends over there.”
“Well, hopefully one day I’ll get to meet him.”
Fluff tinged with angst -- my favorite. :P As you can tell, this is set in the Secundus Verse, in the gap between "Secundus" and "Secundus 2" (which I will write once the Forgotten Vows Verse stops eating my life). In the fanfic, Marty should have only missed two Christmases with Jennifer -- they've been in Secundus almost a year when Victor joins him and Doc, and they spend another with him before going back to Hill Valley. So it's been about a year since Marty's seen his friend -- no wonder he's missing him. Fortunately they'll be reunited before too long. And this time, Marty won't have to feel like he's choosing between his best friends and his girlfriend.
And with that, I'm going to put on an extended version of one of the Alice soundtrack pieces and get reading (for some reason, those do help me get through stuff faster). Night all!
