And I was sucked into TV Tropes again for a while, so not much to report on the internet front. I do have some new additions to my DragonVale park -- Geoff, a Glare dragon, and Bluster, a Wind dragon. And I've got a Flash dragon cooking in the nursery, and Lumin is making a Sand dragon with Dino. I find it very amusing that we have two "superhero" dragons -- Flash and Gamma, referencing, well, the Flash and the Hulk. Wally's already taken as a name in the description of the Flash dragon, so I'm gonna name mine Barry after one of the other claimants to the name. :P Gamma might be Bruce or Banner, we'll see. I'm also still after more Olympus dragons -- tried for a Cyclops, am getting a Quicksilver. *shrug*

Fanfiction

What do you think of fanfiction? In general—do you think it’s a fun thing or a trespass on an author/producer’s world? And of course, obviously specific authors have very firm and very differing opinions about this, yet it’s getting more popular and more mainstream all the time. Do you ever read or write it yourself?

Considering I'm a semi-well-known fanfic author, I think it's pretty obvious my feelings on this. XD More seriously, I really enjoy it as a hobby, and I like reading what other people have written -- good AND bad. Blame a childhood of waking up at a decent hour on Saturdays just to catch MST3K. :P I do understand that some authors have a problem with it, and that's their prerogative, but I'm happy enough in my little corner of the internet, playing with other people's graciously-loaned characters.

What Do You Like?

1. What do you order to drink when you’re at a fast-food restaurant? Diet soda -- either Coke or Pepsi depending on the restaurant's affiliation.

2. What kind of dressing do you have on your salad when you eat out? I don't usually -- I just have it plain. Recently I've been trying to branch out, though, and when I do have it, I favor Ranch.

3. What do you like at those self-serve frozen yogurt places? Er -- never been to one that's TRULY self-serve, but I have been to the "pick your own toppings" kind. There I generally start with a chocolate base, then add on sprinkles, mini M&M-like candies, and/or little chocolate balls, kind of like mini-Whoppers. I like to have a bit of crunch.

4. How do you like your popcorn? Actually, I generally eat any I make at home plain, since I can't be arsed to melt the butter or add salt. I'll get it buttered and salted in a movie theater. And I'm actually quite fond of caramel corn. . .crap, now I want popcorn. >.<

5. What kind of shampoo do you use? Whatever my parents buy, which is generally the 99-cent stuff in whatever brand's available. I'm not picky.

Anyhoo, Crystal won a Gold. Threw Steve into Water.

I'm clearing my new Island. Those damn trees and a couple really big boulders are all that's left. I'll be rearranging things starting later today (if I can tear myself away from Animal Crossing, lol). Since the Fifth Island appears next to the one you start with, I'm going to put the remaining Large Treat Farms (the one I have and the one I will get) there so I only have to be at the top of the screen to find them.

Spitz and Ozzy made me a Steel and made me another Steel after that. I'll just be trying for the other three I need until I get them.

Just hatched my Flash, which is living up to its name by bouncing around its new habitat madly. XD As promised, he's been named Barry. I've got Echo and Geo making another Crystal (why do those have to take a full day), and Snowflame and Borogoves making a eight-hour something. Darn it, game, I want more Olympus dragons. I should also probably try for a Seasonal. . and start feeding Menolly and Cecil up so I can start work on the Aquamarine. Might wait a day or two on that, though, so I have more than enough food for it.

Good idea with the treat farms. :) And good luck getting the other dragons you need!

Oh, derp...it's March, isn't it? :p I'll start on the Aquamarine as soon as Tropius and Lumen are done since they'll be done first. Sadly it's after 5pm tonight but at least I have 31 days to try. :p

Yup, and there's snow forecast for tomorrow. Jooooy. >.< And yeah, that's my reasoning -- with a whole month to go after it I don't have to worry quite so much about when I get it.

Yeah...for us it starts tomorrow night and all day Monday. I have a feeling we're not going to work on Monday.

I started designing the Third Island as per the chart. I decided to stick the Olympus Habitat there, too, to round things out (since they're not affected by boosts). I need the Metal Shrine to complete it. And, of course, to make more dragons. :p

Heh, I see. I've got my Olympus and Treasure dragons with Earth and Metal since I figured those were kind of the "best fits" for those. Light and Sun chill out on the Fire/Lightning Island, Moon's on the Cold/Air, and Seasonal's on the Plant/Water. I might do Lighting/Dark and Fire/Light once I get the Sixth Island, though. (Trying to avoid boost conflicts.)

I need to make more Shrines. I'm just trying to get a good head of steam with my dragoncash first. Past the 30mil mark, though. :) (And actually, they keep track even in the market, so I might wait until I have enough leveled hybrids to bring 'em close to Silver upgrades before I build 'em and get a quick double-dose of treats.)

I just had a facepalm moment. I want to move the Aquamarine breeders to the EBI but once Ozzy and Slythe were done I didn't want to just leave it empty, so I saw that Yiruma and Tundra had 7 hours left (first try is giving me an 8-hour something) so I looked to see what takes 7 hours. Okay, a Lotus dragon (Water+Light). Steve was busy, so I chose Gi. She and Lumen are both low level - 10 and 11 or thereabouts - so the chance of getting the 11-hour Shimmer dragon should be low, right? Nope. *facepalm* Thanks, guys. Shimmer on the first try. I have no where to put it currently, so I bought the small Water Habitat for now. I could buy the Large Light Habitat but~ I think I'll wait a bit.

The Steel dragon came with the name Smelt, hehe. I also added two Gemstone flags near where the Island connects to the First Island as well as a Lightning and Fire flag, plus the Cold and Air flags to the Second Island. I like flags. :p

Oh dear -- Murphy's Law in clear action there. *patpat* Ah well. That's why I'm holding off on Light/Water mixes myself at the moment -- with my current setup, I've only got room for the one. Though I suppose I could move one of the Fire/Water hybrids over to a Fire habitat. . . I'll have to think about it. Still, could be worse -- at least Shimmers are only half a day, unlike some combos and their fails.

*snork* Appropriate! My Sand dragon came with the name Dusty. XD And LOL, so do I -- I have far too many Fire flags. I need that Storage tower more than you know. :P

...okay what you said above just hit me. You don't get dressing on your salad? You're the first person I know who does that. I generally get either Italian or oil and vinegar. ShopRite sells this Parmesan peppercorn dressing that is absolutely delicious to me and I like it with chicken in a salad.

There's a steakhouse nearby called Charlie Browns and they have an unlimited salad bar with a selection of dressings. Ed likes this Asian kind that's too spicy for me but I like their balsamic vinegar so I'll generally pair it with oil.

Me, I like vinegar. So if I dress a salad for home I have to make sure I don't kill everyone else with acid, lol. :D

Not usually -- I just never really cared for it. Though if Mom makes a salad with chunks of chicken on it at home, I generally drizzle sweet-and-sour sauce on it. For regular salads I'm growing to enjoy having ranch-style dressing.

I don't think I'd like oil and vinegar -- too greasy for me. I like my salads to be nice and crunchy, not slippery.
