And damn, I'd forgotten just how much I really love Sam Vimes. He's such a great character, and watching him evolve over the Watch mini-series has been, well, something else. The book was fantastic, and I really would recommend it.
Like most people, I have to count the part where he's in the cave, going up against the dwarfs and screaming out the words to "Where's My Cow?" while doing it -- but maybe not for the typical reasons. Sure, it's a fantastic scene -- Vimes, the (at the moment literal) embodiment of vengeance working his way toward those who threatened his family, interspersed with a few hilarious moments as the dwarfs wonder "What the hell? Is there a cow down here?" before running for their lives. But you know what I like about it?
Shortly before that, Sibyl was declaring that Sam would walk through walls to get home to read the book to his son if he had to.
He didn't walk through the walls -- but he sure as hell can SCREAM through them. Six o'clock, read to Young Sam -- and Young Sam heard him. It just -- wow. Just makes me want to hug the lot of them.
Not much else to report beyond updating "There's Always Tomorrow" and having to take a hiatus day from tumblr RP thanks to a late supper and my desire to read the TV Tropes page for Thud! throwing me off. Ah well, tomorrow's another day. First day of spring, in fact -- let's hope it feels like it!
