Have Finished Thud!
Mar. 19th, 2014 10:12 pmAnd damn, I'd forgotten just how much I really love Sam Vimes. He's such a great character, and watching him evolve over the Watch mini-series has been, well, something else. The book was fantastic, and I really would recommend it.
Like most people, I have to count the part where he's in the cave, going up against the dwarfs and screaming out the words to "Where's My Cow?" while doing it -- but maybe not for the typical reasons. Sure, it's a fantastic scene -- Vimes, the (at the moment literal) embodiment of vengeance working his way toward those who threatened his family, interspersed with a few hilarious moments as the dwarfs wonder "What the hell? Is there a cow down here?" before running for their lives. But you know what I like about it?
Shortly before that, Sibyl was declaring that Sam would walk through walls to get home to read the book to his son if he had to.
He didn't walk through the walls -- but he sure as hell can SCREAM through them. Six o'clock, read to Young Sam -- and Young Sam heard him. It just -- wow. Just makes me want to hug the lot of them.
Not much else to report beyond updating "There's Always Tomorrow" and having to take a hiatus day from tumblr RP thanks to a late supper and my desire to read the TV Tropes page for Thud! throwing me off. Ah well, tomorrow's another day. First day of spring, in fact -- let's hope it feels like it!

Date: 2014-03-20 12:46 pm (UTC)Rooty had won a Gold and I threw Crue into Fire.
The Celtic will hatch tonight and I'm still failing at Equinox and Carnival. I think that I might use my gems if I get another 12-hour something only because I don't want to wait to be disappointed again. Doing so will make it take that much longer to save the amount of gems I want to save, but that's just the way the burger burns if I want to get these limited dragons.
The only "good" thing about failing at the Equinox is there are three dragons that result from the Blazing+Water combo that I don't have yet that could pop up, which are Rain, Salamander and Fog. They're all 8-hour incubation times, so it'll wind up being another waiting game if Boone and Steve decide to do that. Edit: My bad, Salamander is 9 and a half hours. I've already gotten it and a Rain. ...yay [/Fluttershy] Rain, Fog and Blazing are 8 hours.
What I really want to do is save for the Sixth Island so I can start setting up the Plant/Water one the way I want it. I also really want a Dark dragon but of course I can't do any profit breeding until these limited are out of the way. I also can only have one more Habitat until I level up (I bought an extra Large Water in anticipation of the Fog, Salamander and Rain fails); I think I'm about half way to 29. I also want to breed more hybrids, but, again, can't until the limiteds are out of the way. I could, of course, just ignore them but I can't do that. I need to try until they're removed at any rate.
In other news, they released a couple new Doctor Who filming photos and Peter's wearing a dark shirt this time and it looks much, much better than the white one. That is what he'll be wearing to Simon's birthday party. XD

Date: 2014-03-20 06:28 pm (UTC)Crackle got a Silver, I've got Lucky in Earth.
I've gotten plenty of Sakura and Equinox fails -- the Sakura fails are particularly painful because the "same time" one is the dratted Lava. Argh. *patpat* It's understandable. Sometimes you just gotta know! Me, I'm probably going to buy a Giant Air Habitat at some point. I like my Giants.
Heh, yeah, I know -- hooray for getting some dragons you haven't got yet! Even if they're plain old hybrids. And they sell well too, so that's another bonus. :)
I need to get another island myself -- things are getting crowded! And conditions won't improve with that Giant Air. . . I actually have the funds for it, and for clearing it off. Maybe I'll get that process started before I go to bed tonight. I reached Level 29 yesterday, so that's nice. :)
So I just saw, and he DOES look good. Dark colors suit him. :)
