So Guess What Snuck Up On Me Today?
May. 31st, 2014 07:21 pmFortunately the damage was minimal, but that plus my cough (which fortunately has NOT been a bad today -- I got some cough drops that seem to have gotten it under control) has meant that I've been feeling far from my best today. Way behind on tumblr and other stuff. Though I do feel it worth noting that I edited part of Chapter 3 of "Forgetting You." So some productivity was had.
Game-wise, another three-and-out in the Arena, though I got a nice pack from it and updated Andy's Murloc deck. DragonVale's been quiet -- no Butterfly yet, and no luck getting a Current -- the other Water/Lightning Opposite yet. I've been considering a huge shift in how my islands are set up, thanks to Gigs telling me that Plant/Lightning dragons can be pretty damn good earners if you double-boost them. The Reference Chart on the Wiki bears this out -- I've been consulting it to try and find out the best pairings. These are my thoughts so far:
-->Plant/Lighting should go together because of Ash, Cactus, Bloom, and Love dragons.
-->Fire/Water should go together because of Panlongs, which apparently make you crazy money when double-boosted. Salamanders and Corals also earn decent rates.
-->Earth and Cold might work because of the Bearded and Century dragons
-->Air and Metal have some okay earners, but that puts Light and Dark together, so can't have that. Light and Air, however has both one of the lowest earners AND one of the highest, so that might be worth something.
-->That puts together Dark and Metal, which has some decent earners. Dark and Fire actually work best together, but I don't know if I could really squeeze the three onto one island. . . (I'd have to dump all Light hybrids as well as Cold and Lightning.)
-->Just because I think it would look good, considering moving the Sun and Moon dragons to the Opposite Island I'm building.
So yeah, I may spend some time tomorrow shifting all my dragons and their various habitats around to help maximize money production. I may also go ahead and buy a bunch of giant habitats, despite the fact it hurts to spend so many gems. I could use the cash though, and with a good number of Gemstone dragons, I can make the gems back. . .
Anyway. I should shower, and then get to work catching up on my tags. Later!

Date: 2014-06-01 04:57 pm (UTC)So...yeah, I may be stealing that setup. I was just gonna switch Water and Lightning on the chart and leave Light and Dark by themselves, but I like having all pairs and no one alone, yanno? Now I need to redo the new chart I made, lol.
I managed the Butterfly last night! It hit the Nursery today and will hatch in 8 and a half hours. So now I'm sort of trying for the Dream but I don't mind the fails since I can sell them. I'm still profit breeding on the other end.
The Nightshade came with the name Solitude, which is kind of depressing. I named her Atropa, after the genus that the Deadly Nightshade plant belongs to. The Jade came with the name Rex but I renamed him to Olmec, which the Wiki states is the first major civilization in Mexico, whose people made jade masks. Also, Olmec is the name of the big talking rock on the old Legends of the Hidden Temple game show on Nickelodeon, so... :p
Helen won a Gold, threw Fang into Earth and he won a Gold, so now Ozzy's in Metal.
Eighth Island only has the Huge Trees and the Boulder Piles left (and whatever's hiding behind them). The trees will be gone today and the boulders in a couple days.

Now I'm off to restructure my spreadsheet. :p Edit: Well I found out that my "sort dragons by primary element" idea won't work because it's too many habitats, so that's out. Now I'm trying to condense things to have room for everyone. Edit x2: And I've managed to condense everyone down into exactly 55 Habitats for when I hit level 55. When I get up in numbers, the Planeteers may need to be stored until Backflip sees fit to up the maximum.

Date: 2014-06-02 01:45 am (UTC)Really? Well then -- glad to be an inspiration! :) Yeah, I like having them all paired up too. And it gives you a couple of free islands for when you need to spread things out a little more. *nods*
Congratulations! I've yet to get anything interesting, sadly. Though the Pearl's gone live, so I'm gonna be trying for that for a while. At least all the fails lately have been excellent-selling ones (Oozes go for FOUR MILLION), so yeah. Rolling in the dough.
Awww -- yeah, poor thing needed a rename. And I approve of your name for the Jade. Dunno what I'll call either of those when I get them. . . My Crypt dragon was born recently, and that was Buck, which was cute. :D
Phoenix won a Gold, and I put Terra, my Arbor dragon into Earth -- where he won a freaking BRONZE. I haven't gotten a Bronze trophy in ages! >( Hopefully Jethro will do better in the Metal event.
If I recall right, there's just a couple of small bushes, one little tree, and one little rock. You're almost there! :D
Ah yes, the eternal problem of the habitat limit. You can buy extra ones, I think, though I forget if they only cost real money or if you can get them with Gems. You can only get five, though, so that's still kind of problematic. People have been making noise on the Facebook page, so I think they may end up raising it.

Date: 2014-06-02 02:09 am (UTC)The Butterfly came with the name Tul, but~ I took another page out of your book and named him Victor. :) I realized I didn't have a spot for him when I was forced to let him live on the Planeteer Island for now.
I checked, it's 50 gems for the first extra habitat. I expect it gets higher the more you do it but I won't bother unless I'm really hurting for space. I'm nowhere near level 55, so I'm not worried.

Date: 2014-06-02 02:15 am (UTC)Tul? How odd. . . *giggle* Mine's going to be Alice, since Victor is my Ash dragon. And it's going to live in the same Habitat and I intend to breed them at least once. Yes, my shipper tendencies will NOT be quelled.
Ahhh. *nodnod* Sounds legit. I'm not either -- I suspect I even have less habitats than you. Probably because I keep upgrading to Giants and selling/storing the old ones. . .

Date: 2014-06-02 02:23 am (UTC)I was considering a Giant or two but looking at the infodump I call my spreadsheet I still don't think it's worth it because having them wouldn't eliminate enough Larges to make it worth it.
