A Rather Screwed-Up Day

crossover_chickThe morning wasn't so bad -- Mom decided to clean the windows and repaint the living room partially (mainly doing the trim a different color and making an accent wall), and drafted me into helping a bit. I helped her do some of the trim while she did her thing, then sort of pottered about and offered help while I could.
Then, about two in the afternoon, Mom gets a text -- her coworker at her caregiver job has a medical emergency and has to leave, meaning Mom has to go over there. This is a problem because the living room is still a wreck. After an aborted attempt to rush through getting the place and herself looking presentable, it's decided she'll bring me over, I'll do the housesitting thing while she cleans everything up, and then she'll come back ready to go. I find this acceptable, grab my computer and iPad, and we hit the road. I end up staying about two hours on my own while Mom gets herself ready and gets supper ready for cooking. Mainly got some editing done on Chapter 7 of "Forgetting You" (cleaned up the ending section a lot). My computer battery ran out near the end, but I figured this was no problem even though I'd left my power cable at home -- I'd be going home soon, right?
Not quite. I'd thought that Mom might be able to just run me back, but given the situation that wasn't really possible. So it was decided I'd wait around an extra half-hour and then catch the bus to the nearest stop to home, Mom giving me bus fare (since naturally I didn't have any cash on me). This goes well despite the bus being a little late, and I start hoofing it toward home --
And then I remember.
I also don't have my house key.
The truly pathetic thing is that I remembered this earlier and told Mom, but in the looking up bus schedules and stuff, we both forgot. And unfortunately she did remember to lock the back door before leaving, which could have been my way in. So I end up sitting out on the deck for an extra hour, amusing myself with my iPad, before she gets home and can let me in. Naturally, the previous plan for dinner is sunk, and she ends up making an emergency run to get pastrami for sandwiches so we can have a late dinner. So yeah, rather a hectic day.
However! There is good news as well -- Randstad called me back about a job I had expressed interest in, and I have an interview on Friday! :D It's only a temporary thing, but it would be money in the back for at least a few months! And something to add to my resume too. *nods* So yeah, gotta prep for that the next two days!
Only other thing of real interest to say is that I'm getting the Amber dragon in DragonVale. :D Hooray, two more gemstones off the list! I'll probably start trying for Olympus dragons next -- need to round out my two habitats. Still no luck with the Bronze, but I'll keep at it! The Tenth Island is on its way too -- maybe I'll try my luck with some attempts at Dream and Apocalypse dragons.

One to get the Olympus egg out of incubation so Kairos could speed up the hatching (I'm pretty sure it's another Bronze) and then one more to get a fail through. Now they're making another Olympus and hopefully this one's either a Gold or Silver.
No luck on the Cyclops.
And that's about it. :/

I'll keep my fingers crossed this next attempt works better! :) My Amber just hit the nursery, so I'll probably whack six hours off that with Kairos later. Gonna try for a Daydream now.
