Happy Boxing Day
Dec. 26th, 2015 11:01 pmNot much happened on my end -- morning was spent making a proper "map" for the plot of "Remembering You." I think the main reason I stalled out on that story was because I wasn't entirely sure what points I wanted to hit and in what order. Now I've got a list that should work to pull everything together, more or less. I also made a similar map for a future, currently-untitled story about Victoria and Christopher meeting and falling in love -- I figure, I've done "how we got together" for both Victor/Alice and Lizzie/Bonejangles, I should cover her too. Ah, it feels good to be properly organized.
Mom came home early from work (noon instead of three), so we all had lunch together and watched "Gadget Man" -- British show where Richard Ayoade shows off various weird gadgets that have been invented to allow you to pretend to be a DJ on the go or dispense drinks using your smartphone, for example. It's funny, though I think my parents enjoy it more than I do. Then they went out for a bike ride while I vacuumed and dusted. Pretty typical Saturday there.
However, once they came home, I needed Mom's help with something. You see, somehow last night, I managed to pull poor Alice Dolly's arm off. It was more or less just tacked to her body, you see, and the thread got loose. I brought her downstairs so Mom could sew her up again, and Mom remarked on the fact that her face looked kind of weird (the person who did it didn't do a particularly good job). So plans were made to fix that along with her arm. First Mom was going to use iron-on paper to iron a new face on her, but while she found a good shot of first-game Alice looking forward, she had a hell of a time getting a good size. So then she was going to paint a new face -- but then it transpired that the original creator had used so much paint for the original face it was going to be impossible to cover it. So Mom finally ended up taking an iron-on that was about the right size and SEWING it onto Alice, then rearranging (and rerooting some that I brought down) her hair to make it all look right. So now basically Alice Dolly has a "mask" of her AMA face over her old one. :P Does make her look more like she should, at least.
And after that, was adventures in getting my mod to work! Which turned out pretty much as I expected -- new one failed, even after a reinstall -- old one worked, leading me to believe it has to do with me not having the new expansion. (Which is quite curious, as the world the new expansion offers is on my list of worlds. . .just locked. Hmm -- why do I get the feeling a lot of the new content was added with a patch and is just behind a pay wall, like A:MR's alternate dresses?) At any rate, with my mod safely replaced, I was able to kill those "lovebird" relationships my Sims were making without my approval (Nikal, whom I played today, had TWO of the damn things by this point) and make sure everything in the background was running as I wanted. :) Which means playing Nikal and Eric without fuss. Lot of woodworking for those two today -- and I got them both jobs! Nikal's a Scientist, like Emmett, while Eric's going to be a Detective. Yes, that's two active careers in the same house, but I figure I'll find a good balance. Probably switch off between them when they share a workday -- though Eric's job is going to be weighted a little heavier, since we already have a scientist.
And now I'm doing the RP thing, as I always do this late at night. :P So I'd best keep going with that. And of course, I've got birthday things happening tomorrow~ 29, yeeps, where does the time go.
Anyway -- night, sleep tight!
