crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

-D:. . . I'm not touching that one.-
:) My parents just bought a new computer for downstairs, since I decided that I wanted to keep this baby. Thing is, it has a huge monitor. The one that came with our VAIO now looks a bit dinky. *laugh* Dad actually offered to get me a new monitor before buying the new 'puter, but I didn't realize what it would look like. The new one looks like a TV.
-VD: Does it really matter what monitor you have?-
It would be nice to play Sims with that sort of monitor. Maybe it'll shut Mom and Dad up too. For some reason, they don't like the fact I chose to keep the old computer rather than buy a new one. I don't know what's with the guilt, I like this computer. It has all my stuff on it, and fulfills my needs. This is what I do on this thing:
A) Surf the web
B) IM friends
C) Write stories
D) Play Sims (and sometimes other games)
I don't need a whole new computer.
-VD: I can see the logic of that. Still not sure on the monitor thing.-
Do you not see the monitor behind you?
-VD: *turning* I haven't -- *drool*-
What did I tell you?

Speaking of Sims, I'll do my best to get Castle House pics today. I didn't play for long yesterday -- Mom and Dad were setting up the new computer, and my stupid MSN Messenger kept signing itself back on! *sigh* It goes off randomly, it comes on randomly -- luckily I have a way to beat that, I can just exit from MSN Messenger before putting on my Sims. According to the message I got yesterday, it'll come back when I go back on the web. :) I did notice that I got a pretty new crystal in my yard.
-D: Another one?! You're going to get all the crystal abilities before you get to Magic Town!-
Maybe, but that's okay. Madison will be able to learn from the ones I get on the new lot. Plus they're very pretty and act as lamps. Their current house has a black one (Extinguish), a green one (Spook), a white one (Levitate), a red one (Hot Foot), and now a blue one (Hand Buzzer). The nice thing is that they'll stay when I move the family out (since it isn't an eviction, per say), so the new family for that lot, our Spenglers from the Ghostbusters, might be able to use them. *fingers crossed*
-VD2: Oh, Egon's moving into the neigborhood?-
It's my most magical, I figure he belongs there. He's coming with Janine (or Jeanine). I'm also going to break my "no dead Sims" record by moving in a Dummy Sim before hand and killing him on lot to have a ghost.
-VD: *shaking head indulgently* I guess that makes sense.-
Hey, they're Ghostbusters! They need a ghost!
-J: Am I a Superstar yet?-
Didn't get to send you to Studio Town yesterday, so we'll have to see today.

Setback on the fan fiction front. A couple of days ago, I got a disgusting review. Somebody complimented me, then asked me to WRITE MORE SLASH.
-VD2: Who do I kill?-
Already been taken care of. I deleted the review, then told the person (pretty politely in the fact I didn't swear) that they had insulted me horribly and that I did not want to hear from them again. (To anyone who says I overreacted -- I was disgusted and the person did seem to acknowledge my e-mail in a way that said they didn't care that much about it.)
I DO NOT WRITE SLASH. Any tolerance I had for it was pretty much destroyed with the Marty/George fics. I acknowledge some people do like that stuff, but for Newton's sake, don't accuse me of writing it! (Or if you must, FLAME me for it. I prefer the negative comments I got for "Ich Liebe Dich" to this.) As a result, I've been kinda lazy on the typing front -- I don't write well if I'm too emotional. I'm feeling better about it now, so maybe I can get things back on track.
-VD: You'd better, I can see you're almost done with "Judgement Day."-
*sticks out tongue*

Slash and Fanfics

EDIT: Sorry about the long length of this. I guess I had more to say than I thought, LOL.

A couple of days ago, I got a disgusting review. Somebody complimented me, then asked me to WRITE MORE SLASH...I deleted the review, then told the person they had insulted me horribly and that I did not want to hear from them again.

Yeah, that was uncalled for. I probably would've done what you did in that case. In the last year or so, I've been pretty quiet as for what I think on the issue. I apologize in advance for using your LJ for this, but I'd rather not bring it up on the board and possibly get mass-flamed:

To be honest, I personally don't understand this whole slash obsession myself. Now, I'm not against non-mainstream or more, errr, sexually oriented fanfics (even though that's not really my thing) and if they like slash fics, I support that. But, if they want them to get written that badly, they should write it.

I'm not gonna name names on here (partially in case I'm wrong), but upon several things I read at FF.net, I'm 99.9% sure I know who the person you're referring to is. She posts at the BTTF board, and she's a little, well, to cut it nicely as I can, strange. It seems like her topics (and other stuff that flat out doesn't interest me) occupy much of the Fanfic section of the board recently.

I prefer the negative comments I got for "Ich Liebe Dich" to this.

I didn't know you got that many flames for ILD, although I'd read a few slash-like criticisms on BTTF.com of it and similar stories. If it helps any, I liked it and found it a believable account. Just 'cause I'm a (very straight - as evidenced by my Lorraine avatar, LOL) guy doesn't mean I don't have similar feelings to how Doc did there.

I could envision a 35-year-old man (at the beginning of what would become the Lone Pine timeline) very pleased beyond words to be face to face with the young man who would become his best friend -- especially after having probably lived without alot of close human interaction for quite some time -- enough to tell the teenager he loved him.

I don't think that one male showing that kind of affection to another is "gay". However, I do think the misconception of that might be because nowadays, guys are always calling each other "fags" etc. as an insult -- which, by the way, I always thought was pretty stupid -- so any even remote tendency toward a non-tough guy kind of thing can be perceived as homosexual.

Obviously, that doesn't mean it is, though. You, as the writer, knew what you meant when you created it, so anyone who claims it to be different (without even knowing the complete story behind it) is the ignorant one IMHO.

P.S. Of the probably 100-150 fanfics I've read, I'd say not much more than 5 have made me come close to crying (either in a happy or sad way). Well, Ich Liebe was one of them.

I'm not against non-mainstream myself (obviously :)). I just don't care for anything that has guy on guy lovin' in BTTF. After those Marty/George fanfics, especially. (We're having a sort of discussion about this sort of thing over at Tracie's board, btw. I started a topic called "Conterversial Fanfiction" and we got to talking about it, so if you want to weigh in there. . . .)
I think what really got me was the "more." Yes, I'll admit that I make Doc and Marty a tad huggy, and I certainly picture them as close. But sex? *shudder* Ironically enough, the review was for "For Love or Marty," which contains the line "God help me if I ever start liking Marty like that!"

I didn't get a lot of flames (my count is five, possibly six with one ambigious review), but I did get some very negative reviews on that story. They were more than balanced out by all the positive reviews I got for it as well. :) I agree with what you said -- the story just really popped into my head when I first thought of it. It was a sappy piece about the fact Marty and Doc can be seen as a sort of son and father.
*blush* Thanks for the kind words on the story.

Yeah, I agree again.

Out of sheer curiousity, I actually read one or two slash fics. What they seem to have in common (aside from being all Marty/'55George) is making excuses for George to have been uninterested in Lorraine, as that was some kind of secret, obsessive crush on Marty. That was what got me more sickened by the whole thing.

Even the most casual BTTF viewer could tell that the guy was just shy! (Both at 17 and TP 47). It didn't mean he wasn't into women, and there's no evidence to support otherwise - if there was, we would've known about it in the movies.

Ironically enough, the review was for "For Love or Marty," which contains the line "God help me if I ever start liking Marty like that!"

I haven't even read that one, and I already can -- by way of hearing Doc's distinctive tone in my head -- tell it's just a harmless joke. People, I think, just see what they want to see in anything.

Thanks for the heads up - I'll also check out the topic on Tracie's board.

Oh, Goddess! When I first saw your post, I thought you were talking about another story. You know what I mean.

How did that person interpret "For Love Or Marty" as a slash fic? Ugh! There isn't a grain of slash in the story! I think the phrase "Get a life," applies here.
