Well, That Was A Fat Load Of Fail
Oct. 23rd, 2017 11:30 pmAs you might imagine, that subject line means I failed my driving test. *sigh* It was the backing up that got me -- after a rather long, nerve-wracking wait, we proceeded out, and the instructor told me to go down a side street, park in front of a tree, then back up 30 feet. I thought I could handle it, despite not being familiar with backing up against curbs --
Buuut I ended up crooked -- and on the sidewalk. Not much on, I don't think, but it's an automatic fail condition nonetheless. Guy was nice about it (everyone was, actually), but I ended up crying once I got back into the building. I blame the nerves -- I'm not good at handling bad news when I'm already on-edge. (And annoyingly, trying to comfort me/cheer me up just tends to make it WORSE. Pro tip -- if you ever see me crying, just say one comforting thing to me, then leave me alone. I'll run out of steam on my own, THEN we can talk. My brain just obsesses over the bad thing if you try to make it better right away.)
But yeah, RI law is that you have to wait a month between road tests, so my new test is set up for the day after Thanksgiving. Mom already took me out for a drive so we could practice stopping beside roads and backing up next to curbs. Took going through what was probably the entirety of Lincoln before we found a good road, but still. The plan is to just practice that, along with parallel parking, backing into spaces, and just generally looking out my back window more, every day between today and the second test. We'll see what happens then. I guess at least I should be less nervous the second time. . .I hope. . .
Anyway, did manage to fit in some nice stuff after that was all over and done with and I'd finally calmed down:
-->More writing on "The Technicolor Phase" -- reworking what I originally wrote for Victor about the climax with Barkis from Victoria's perspective, and planned out just how exactly the last CB-rewrite short will go (this one from Emily's perspective). I still feel like the Alice games are getting cheated a bit here, but I can't see a good way for them to change even with this AU in place. Alice can't get colors from her imaginary friends in Wonderland, after, and I already covered Bumby in an earlier short. . .guess I'll think of something. At least I'm getting closer to the point where she'll show up for the poly fun.
-->Watched the two most current episodes of Linkara -- which were both on reasonably GOOD comics for a change. O.o A decent Nightmare on Elm Street story for the first, and a rare good entry in the Clone Saga for the second. Linkara was of course snarky at the things that deserved snarking, but it was nice to see him not have to rage over stuff. The current arc is already looking interesting too -- Linkara's got his eye on the prize! (If only to keep it away from people who might abuse it -- it's a powerful thing.) He just needs to get through the preliminary round first. . .
-->Fit in a bit of BioShock! Killed the final two Big Daddies I needed to get the last parts for my bomb. Used the advice of an online friend for one and used a turret trap to help me kill one (along with some Electric Buck), the other I managed to proximity mine to death. XD I also tracked down how to get some of the audio diaries I was missing, and pre-hacked some turrets in the next area I have to get into while exploring. And killed a bunch of splicers, of course. Next up is breaking into Ryan's office!
-->Got my VictorLuvsAlice queue done through the beginning of Friday! Hey, I had a few posts in my drafts I wanted to use, and I already had the pictures for Wednesday and the AU for Thursday, so. . .
And okay, I'm officially up too late -- gotta get to bed, as work tomorrow! Night all!
