I am now a fully licensed driver! Got up at seven this morning, got myself all prepared, then drove us down to the test area. Mom had me go around a few of the streets to practice the general route, then we went in, turned in our paperwork, and waited. After one false alarm (turns out they had another Victoria in -- reasons why you need to call out the last name too!), I got called for my test. Did all the lights and signals and such, then headed out onto the road!
And -- it went well! I made damn sure to stop at every stop sign, check everywhere for traffic while turning and changing lanes, and backed up correctly this time (including asking if I needed to have the turn signal on while doing so -- guy recommended the hazard lights, actually). I did not use my turn signal at one point (it was a "two lanes merging into one" situation -- I wasn't sure if you NEEDED to, and sadly did not err on the side of caution), and went slightly faster than I should on my way back to the DMV (guy said to do 25, I ended up doing 30 at one point), but neither error was enough to fail me. So it was back into the DMV to get the paper temporary license -- permanent one will be coming in the mail soon enough. Glad to FINALLY have that over with. Although now my parents are already talking about me going out in the car alone, and getting a (earlier model, cheaper) iPhone for the maps and such. . .can I have a day or two? Please?
But yeah -- we went out to eat at Twin's Pizza to celebrate (got a ranch chicken finger sandwich -- tasty, and the fries are actually just like the ones at our old haunt Dunn's Corners! :D), and then (after a bit of dithering), I went ahead and bought myself a present: Sims 4 Cats & Dogs! I then proceeded to spend a couple of hours making, well, cats and dogs! Specifically, I made all of my fanfic/RP pets for Victor and Alice that are one or the other -- Bayard and Splatter from the Forgotten Vows Verse, Lightning from Secundus, Guide from Catch Us If You Can (and technically from Alice: Madness Returns -- she's the white cat Alice keeps following around), and Hope from Queen Wins (technically the Annoying Dog from Undertale, as Hope came from an anon who threw the dog at that version of Victor, who promptly fell in love -- I imagined him as a Pom) -- as one big family. And then I made another family consisting of Dinah and a version of Scraps with the skeleton fur pattern so he'd look vaguely like the Scraps we saw in canon, and merged them into the Van Dort household in my game. (I also made a separate version of the family with Victor and Alice and uploaded it to the gallery, along with the fanfic pets.) To my shock and delight, the pets came with their own cash, so now the Van Dorts have a tidy little nest egg! Gonna put that to good use -- perhaps a new bed, or a pool? Bigger garden for Victor? Nicer art studio for Alice? We'll see. . .
Other things accomplished today:
-->More on "Fixing You" -- we're right on the threshold of the two entering Wonderland! I'm already looking forward to refining Victor's trip through the various domains with Alice. Gonna be a romp! Well, at least until we discover just why they keep encountering Slithering Ruins on the their trip. . .
-->A few Sims 4 videos -- one about The Sim Supply visiting his local RSPCA (EA is holding little mini challenges for the community and donating money to the organization in honor of the new EP), and then a follow-up of him making two of the dogs he met in Sims 4 and putting them with loving virtual homes. There's going to be another follow-up for the two cats he met -- looking forward to it. :) I also watched a video about the history of the franchise -- amazing to see just how far it's come. Ah, I have fond memories of playing The Sims and turning Doc and Marty into wizards and making Marty a superstar and all that. Good times. Bring back magic for The Sims 4 already, darn it!
-->Helloween's latest Darkwood set -- seems he fluffed up one of his side-quests, and a lady who was going to give him a present has instead been eaten. Lovely, huh? At least he managed a decent haul from the local junkyard, and got away with another quiet night. And now he has the ability to explore underwater areas -- fun. :D
-->Got some queuing done on VictorLuvsAlice for Song Saturday (feels weird that tomorrow's SATURDAY -- I'm not used to four-day weekends!) and currently doing a bit of the RP thing on TheValiceMultiverse.
So yeah -- pretty nice day, overall. We'll see what the rest of the weekend holds! Night all!
