crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Looking for stuff to make my coworkers' Christmas presents this year. . .the original plan was tote bags, but after searching multiple fabric stores (including another trip to Lorraine Mill) today. . .we just could not find ANY patterns we liked, nor even any plain white canvas fabric to make the insides. (I KNOW -- you'd think it would be readily available, but. . .) So after hitting the grocery stores (we only intended to go to one, but then Shaw's had some shitty prices on stuff we needed, so we needed to go to Stop & Shop instead) and coming home for lunch, we went back to the drawing board and started searching new ideas online. What did we decide on?

Homemade coasters made from tile and scrapbooking paper! We found a couple of different sites saying these were cool gifts for cheap, so we decided to give them a go. So it was off to Home Depot for tile and sealant (so they're actually waterproof), then Michael's for craft paper and felt for the bottoms (so they don't scuff things up). Scored some good deals, so were doing these for like less than five dollars for the whole shebang (20 coasters -- five sets of four). The actual assembly (or beginning of same, anyway) will start tomorrow.

This DOES mean that I was out of the house for the majority of the day, which threw off any plans I had for stuff on the computer. >.< Managed to get some more written on "The Technicolor Phase," at least -- the first part of the "Lizzie meets Emily" short. Emily's just read her the letter Victor wrote asking for Elder Gutknecht's help in reuniting Alice with her family -- now they just have to see Gutknecht and get the go-ahead to go Upstairs with Emily when it's time. And then happy reunions, yay~ I also:

-->Played some BioShock -- didn't feel like I had the proper amount of time to devote to Sims 4. I'm two-thirds of the way through my transformation into a Big Daddy, and I wish I weren't -- I've gotten the bits of the suit to wear, and I HATE what the helmet's doing to my vision. Everything feels a lot more claustrophobic. At least I've successfully slaughtered two Big Daddies through judicious use of proximity mines and exploding buck. Just one more Little Sister to save, and I should be set there. w00~ Also have to track down the last of the memories, and then -- well, guess it's a straight shot to the end of the game. At least I know I'm guaranteed the good ending.

-->Watched the latest Linkara episode (first appearance of the Justice League -- fighting an evil starfish with hopes of World Domination. The Silver Age was WEIRD, guys), and Helloween's latest Super Castlevania 4 set (he's gotten the power of the Triple Cross subweapon, and survived a boss battle with a money bat -- yes, a bat made of money -- by the skin of his teeth). Tomorrow is The Evil Within 2 day, come hell or high water.

-->Got the next chapter of "Secundus" up on AO3: Chapter 17. Forgot just how busy that one was -- everybody is doing all the things. Including Victor, who's going spectacularly mad. :D Been enjoying this trip down memory lane -- puts me in the right mood for doing the sequel.

-->Related, got my VictorLuvsAlice queue going up through Tuesday, so that's good. Slowly but surely working my way through my drafts, hoorah~

-->And doing a bit of the RP thing on TheValiceMultiverse, because of course, it's Saturday. In fact, I need to get back to that. . .along with answer some comments in my inbox before it gets out of hand. . . Woof, busy Saturday. Hopefully tomorrow I can just stay home! Night all!
