Turned Out To Be A Pretty Fun Thursday

crossover_chickI was still ambivalent about the mall when I first woke up, but decided to go in the end (after spending some time lounging around in my jammies drinking smoothies -- something I couldn't do before on mall visit days, thanks to needing to be at the bus stop by a certain time). Glad I did -- I finally got to use my Dave & Buster's gift card, and had fun playing a bunch of new and old games. Got my fair share of free plays on the newer stuff, yay~ They've got a new movie tie-in game, "Rampage," where you can go around and smash stuff as a giant monster creature -- I had to picture the reptilian one named Lizzie because of Alice's sister. XD Didn't do too bad either -- earned 90 tickets wrecking the city. Also had a great run on Guitar Hero, Fruit Ninja, and the big piano game they've got. On the latter I've got the lead on the leader board for most keys pressed in the time limit, so go me. :)
Outside of D&B, had a decent lunch at Charley's (Chicken Philly with fries and a strawberry lemonade, om nom), then decided to try a Thai rolled ice cream stand for dessert, Freezing Point. What they do is that they basically have melted ice cream that they pour on a chilled metal slab, then mix in stuff while the ice cream freezes on the slab, before turning it into a sheet. They they cut that sheet into strips, roll up said strips, and put it in a cup with some toppings. You eat it with a spork. XD I got a chocolate cup, with chocolate ice cream, Oreo mix-ins, chocolate drizzle, a Fudge Stripe cookie, some chocolate covered pretzels, and some of those rolled wafer cookies (LOVE those). Really tasty, even if I got brain freeze a couple of times from how cold the ice cream rolls were :p I'd probably try it again -- they've got a variety of flavors, and you can even make your own cups.
Only other place I really visited after that was Newbury's -- the store's looking kind of empty these days. :( Not as much cool stuff to look at. . .but I did actually get something.

I've seen them before in Newbury stores, but I've always resisted getting them because I don't really wear baseball hats anymore. Today, though. . .I blame going out in one of my BTTF T-shirts AND my new BTTF socks that my mom got me. It just completed the outfit. XD And it looks cool too. Have to find a place for it somewhere on my shelves. . .
So yeah, it was a good mall trip and I'm glad I went. :) Good to get out of the house for non-work-related purposes! Especially now that I don't have such a long ride back (in decent traffic, which fortunately we had today).
In non-Mall-news:
-->Wrote a snippet for the "Holistic Assassin AU" -- like I said yesterday, I'm taking a mini-break for at least a couple of days from my main stories. I feel like I've been pushing myself to actually write on those for a while, and I think doing little shorts on other topics will help clear my head and recharge my batteries
-->Played some BioShock 2 -- and I just realized I got through nearly an hour of gameplay with no crashes! Huh. . .anyway, wandering around the Dionysus Park level now. Ellie, my darling daughter, has managed to give me a grenade launcher. :D I've also fully upgraded the shotgun, gotten a clip upgrade for the rivet gun, remote autohacked a safe (because I was tired of being shocked or setting off an alarm and having to reload), and met Stanley Poole. Who has told me to do something I would have done anyway, so -- yay? On the minus side, HOUDINI SPLICERS ARE BACK. Ergh HAAAAATE those bastards. And of course you've got Cohen's memory being creepy all over the place. I look forward to putting my new grenade launcher to good use.
-->Watched some videos -- an episode of "Mother Simulator" from Jay (poor guy suffered in trying to take care of his robot baby, but persevered in the end!); two episodes of The Sims Medieval from Call Me Kevin (his kingdom, Fecktopia, is run by the evil King Jim Pickett the I, who regularly mugs his own citizens and whose throne room is full of dolls -- also, he kissed a frog (named Frgo of all things) and turned it into a beautiful queen, only for his knight to marry her instead XD); and the latest set of System Shock 2 from Helloween (BUGS EVERYWHERE WHY IS THERE A GIANT SPIDER ENEMY EEEWW -- on the plus side, Helloween has got a nifty new recharging power from his psi abilities and, despite some very close calls, has managed to beat just about everything the game has thrown at him so far).
And now I've got to get moving on the whole setting up queues and answering comments thing. Been kind of a distracted evening. Especially since my brain keeps wanting to convince me tomorrow's Saturday. . . :p Night all!
