crossover_chick: Victor leaning over to look at a blue butterfly in a glass jar (CB: i has a happy thing)

Not too much going on at work, happily -- then again, I was the only one up at the front today, my coworkers still sick and having taken the day off, respectively. I caught up on some maintenance, did a little batch keying, that sort of thing. Still only too happy to get out at 1:30 -- I am gonna miss the half-day Friday. :( Just gotta remember, we're coming up on the time of year where I get a lot more full days off. . .

Afternoon was pretty good -- I did indeed do an early room clean so I wouldn't have to worry about it tomorrow. After that was some writing -- mostly the Van Dorts being entirely too pushy about Victor and Alice's eventual wedding in "Fixing You." Nell has a very specific vision in mind, and she does not like that the pair are not really sticking to her script. Fortunately I already know that Victor and Alice are going to have the wedding THEY want and not the one Nell wants. . .but for now, they have to put up with her dress designs and demands for a big church. Ah well.

After that was BioShock Infinite! I said I was going to play, and play I did. For quite a while too, thanks to the darn autosave system. Couldn't stop until I KNEW I was at a checkpoint. At any rate, I have discovered something about Booker, and that is HOLY HELL THE GUY DOES NOT SHIRK AT MESSILY KILLING PEOPLE. I mean, I know the protags of the previous games had their moments with the Splicers, particularly Delta/Sigma and their drills, but seeing him use a skyhook to just MANGLE the police. . .it was a bit disturbing. O.o I mean, I kept DOING it, because otherwise he was going to die (and I did die once, stupid gun turrets), but it can be pretty gruesome to watch. I've also picked up another vigor -- Devil's Kiss, the fire-related one. And holy crap, the hallucinations that come with these things. . .you think the charred flesh on Jack or Delta's hand is bad with Incinerate!? Try watching Booker's fingers burn to the BONE when he first drinks Devil's Kiss. *shudder* At least now I can throw firebombs. . .I'm not particularly good at AIMING, but it's an option. And I've got some nice Gear too -- clothing items that serve roughly the same purpose as Gene Tonics in the previous games. I got some freebies from buying the DLC for the game, which I am all for. I need all the help I can get at this point. Fortunately, I have also gotten myself a machine gun now, which also helps. :) Slowly but surely making my way to Elizabeth in her tower. . .

After that was my walk, then dinner, then video time! "Fun With Shorts" had an adorable but rather dull short about lost puppies on an "adventure" (cute dogs, but the narration sucked), and Helloween had another episode of Vampyr. More dicking around killing vampire hunters and completing sidequests, natch. The London of the game is so interesting -- you can get a real feel for how run-down Whitechapel is, and your actions in the game have an actual effect on each district -- Helloween brought Whitechapel up to "stable" condition from "serious" by curing a few NPCs. :) And I like the NPCs too -- they all have developed personalities, and you have a nice range between "generally good folk" to "outright bastards you have to resist the urge to munch." RE4 is good stuff, of course, but this is the LP I'm most excited about at the moment.

And then it's just been about doing queues (I found the cover of "Pure Imagination" that I liked so much for Song Saturday, yay!) and catching up on websites, as is usual for Friday evenings. Gonna answer a few last comments in the inbox, then I've got a date with a friend to do some writing stuff together. *nods* Night all!
