Civic Duty Done
Nov. 6th, 2018 11:14 pmAnd fortunately with little issue, despite the fact that my coworkers were talking about people being lined up for ages outside the polls in some places in the state, and the fact that it was raining on the drive home. Which USUALLY means traffic is backed up for miles, but Dad and I (he had to pick me as Mom went out to meet a friend for dinner and thus needed the car) actually made better time getting up to the polling place tonight than I made getting home (a shorter distance) yesterday! Though maybe the fact that all the kids were out of school so said schools could be used as polling places had something to do with that. . .
Anyway! Voted, then came home and decided to go ahead and renew my license online -- I'd gotten the form in the mail recently (since my license expires in December), but wanted to avoid a trip to the DMV if possible. Got that set, and then went ahead and paid off my credit card while I was being productive. Even found time to fit in one of my 15-minute walk workouts! So that was good.
Even better -- getting back to work on Chapter 9 of "Fixing You!" Made a couple minor tweaks to the stuff I'd already done, then finished off the first third. Hooray accomplishment! Now I just gotta start on the second section, with them actually in Oxford -- visiting the site of the former Liddell family house. Shouldn't take that long, but we'll see -- I've had occasional moments of "now how the heck do I end this scene" in this fic. Not too frequent, but always annoying. Meh.
Videos of the day included:
A) The Sim Supply showing off a new feature coming in the next Sims 4 patch (which, according to Sims VIP, is getting released next Tuesday -- gotta build up a little Sims buffer this weekend!) -- a first-person camera mode! Which. . .well, James was into it, and it is kind of a neat idea, but I don't think it's anything I'll be using. Like maybe once just to check it out, but -- well, the video showed off it's REALLY bouncy, and while I didn't get motion sick then. . . *shrug* We'll see.
B) Helloween's latest set of Call of Cthulhu! Which has, to paraphrase his own words, has gone up to eleven rather abruptly. A whole cave system belonging to a Cthulhu cult doing dark rituals! A supposed murder victim alive -- and heavily mutated! A rockslide and the apparent death of one of Pierce's working buddies! All ending in a super-creepy asylum where the inmates have constant nightmares, the doctors seem to be performing cruel experiments, and Eddie's having dreams of some unseen creature demanding to be freed. It's the essence of the "boy, that escalated quickly" meme -- but it's so good as well. I approve of all these shenanigans. (I don't approve of the spelling mistakes I keep seeing, but what can you do.) Quite looking forward to what chaos is unleashed in the next set.
And then it was all about catching up on websites, and getting the Valice Multiverse queue sorted, and -- this was actually a pretty productive day. Even work -- there were a lot of little issues I had to take care of, but I took care of them. So -- yeah, that's -- fairly satisfying. Especially after the chaos of yesterday left me feeling like I'd barely gotten anything accomplished at all. Nice.
All right, time to keep up the winning streak by emptying out the inbox before bed. Night all!
