Simmy Saturday
Jan. 26th, 2019 11:19 pmIn three primary ways:
-->I watched a bunch of Sim content on YouTube -- two videos from The Sim Supply; one from a random person I found interesting. The first Sim Supply video was him making over the exterior of a deliberately-awful house one of the Sim Gurus made on one of their streams (said Guru was apparently responsible for designing the mansions in the Pinnacles in Get Famous, and -- didn't do a great job). James just couldn't stand looking at the place and decided to at least make the outside look as if it fit into Brindleton bay. He did a great job, too! Nice landscaping, a neat little tower atop the house, a new living room extension -- he even added in fun stuff like a sludge pit and a secret vault around the back, sticking out of one of the hills GuruRomeo had created. The Gurus themselves saw it later and thought it was great. I actually downloaded it myself -- never know when you might need a new house! (Though it's worth noting the INTERIOR James barely touched, and -- woof. That'll need some fixing up.)
The second Sim Supply video was the finale to "Get Famous Rags To Riches" -- which was an hour and a half long. Cut down from two and a half hours of playtime, according to James! Mostly because he found himself in a horrible situation after killing Holly -- he'd forgotten for a moment she had a TODDLER at home, and -- well, killing her seems to have made said toddler vanish into the dark recesses of The Sims 4. James tried a few tricks to find her (including checking old saves), but no dice. So he decided he was going to resurrect Holly with the help of Lady's parents (which necessitated visiting their lot and doing a LOT of fishing to get ambrosia for Lady to take home and give to Holly's ghost once she showed up), and have her have ANOTHER baby with Thorne Bailey, and make that baby over into Carol II. Which, as you might imagine, took some doing.
And, while all this was going on, James decided he wanted to kill Lady's old butler -- but found he couldn't invite the Sim in question over. This led to a very weird series of events, where James would have Lady text the guy, the guy would text back with an invitation to go somewhere, they'd go, get in a few interactions, and then the guy would leave. James eventually rehired him as a butler, fired him so he could interact with Lady like a regular Sim -- namely, so they could try for baby together (YES LADY HAD A FOURTH CHILD), and then resulted to just cheating him into the family when he wouldn't stop trying to leave the lot. And then he had Lady woohoo the guy to death (yes this is a thing).
AND THEN HE SET ABOUT KILLING LADY'S OLD STAN -- a somewhat simpler project that involved getting the stan to fall in love with Lady and move in (with her son -- James wasn't risking another child being lost to the void), having them marry quickly in the vault, and then quickly building a pool down there and trapping the stan in it. So, by the end of the day, Lady has three deaths on her conscience (although one of them she resurrected), five children (four natural-born, one who lives in her house now that she killed his mom), and is still a Global Superstar with a pristine reputation. This GAME, man. . . XD
The third video was just a quick little thing comparing proposals and marriage across all four generations of The Sims. This appealed to me both because I like these comparisons, and because. . .
-->It was wedding day in my own Sims game! Specifically, Emmett and Nikal got married! :) Though things got off to a bit of a rough start when I had them call into work to take the day off -- and discovered Emmett had no vacation days. I hadn't even thought to check. ^^; I tried having him call in fake sick, but his excuse was seen through. Fortunately, the wedding event took precedence over him going to work, so I just had him skip a day. It didn't seem to affect his performance TOO badly -- and besides, this was more important.
The wedding itself went well -- though for some reason Marty didn't actually show up as one of Emmett's invited guests. (I suspect I misremembered his work hours.) So I had him invite Marty around while Nikal invited Eric. Everybody chatted and boozed it up for a while, then Emmett and Nikal got married, had cake, hung out with the guests for a while, then snuck away to go woohoo in a bush. XD It ended up a gold-level event, so I can't complain. And it was fun to design wedding outfits for them, and watch the lot get overrun with random townies who were just there for the drinks. And Victor and Alice showed up too, of course. XD Victor played some piano for the happy couple, at least. (Makes me wonder if I should have hired a musician and seen if he would have turned up. . .)
So yeah -- another successful Sims playsession! Though that's mostly because. . .
-->I got some new mods and custom content! Starting with a "always start lots paused" mod, since I'm sick of this weird "the game loads but the loading screen doesn't go away, meaning your Sims will get a chance to do forbidden activities" thing the game has (I'm starting to think that's the reason I once loaded into the Van Dort-Liddell household and found Victor being spit out by the cow plant). I remembered seeing a mod that made sure all lots started paused, and installed it before embarking on my wedding adventure. Not only did it stop the issue, I think everything loaded a bit quicker too! So that was fun. :) I grabbed a couple of others from the same person -- ones to stop Sims preparing food and washing dishes in bathrooms (which is definitely an issue with Emmett and Nikal; they ALWAYS use the bathroom sink for dishes). Then I went on the hunt for some Alice stuff I remembered seeing back in the day -- a Rabbit doll, a Hatter tea table and chair, and a Duchess bathroom set. So that's all loaded into my game now. Dunno where I'll use most of it, but I can certainly put the Rabbit doll into my Van Dort/Liddell household. :)
As you can see, most of my day has been all-Sims, all the time. About the only non-Sims things I did were clean my room (fortunately not too dirty, even after two weeks of limited/no cleaning), writing on "The Technicolor Phase" (not QUITE done with the "Alice Brown" chapter -- longer than it looked! I might have to finish it up tomorrow and push working on Chapter 14 back a day), and posting the next "Scenes From Secundus," Day 3: Wreath (yes, a Christmas fic -- it's just to fill in some holes while I wait for Valentine's to roll around so I can post the Cupid Challenge fics). And a bit of RP stuff, though that's been pretty quiet tonight. Bottom line: Sims everywhere today. I can't say I'm complaining. :p
Tomorrow: Mom's birthday! We're going out bowling at some place in Lincoln Mall, and Mom wants to go before lunch, so I can't stay up too late. Gotta clear out the inbox and finish up queues. Usual state of affairs on a Saturday night, really. . . Night all!
