. . .Well That Was Unexpected

crossover_chickSurprisingly quiet day at work -- we had a few phone calls, but nothing like it's been earlier this week. And the GL was simple, so I was able to tackle a good chunk of my gift backlog. Sorted out everything that I knew would be easy to put on and slapped it in there. Still got a fair bit to go, but the worst of it has been handled, yay me. Granted, the GL tomorrow is going to take a LOT more time, but I'll just handle that the best I can. And even stranger, the ride home was damn near perfect -- not a lot of traffic anywhere. Got home in 20 minutes. I'm not used to that going well anymore. O.o
I will say that the weather has been getting gradually more frightful outside -- most of the day was super sunny, but soon after I came home, the clouds rolled in and we had a snow squall -- no major accumulation, but there was definitely quite a bit of blowing snow! And now the temperatures are dropping out there thanks to a major wind chill factor. I checked the closing list out of curiosity, and it looks like a lot of the schools are having hour delays, to allow things to warm up slightly tomorrow morning. We'll see if my work follows suit or not -- if it does, I get some extra time in the morning; if it doesn't, traffic should be a little better than usual thanks to a lack of school buses. So long as I only have to spend a minimum of time out in the cold. . . At least it's not as horrifyingly cold as it's been in Chicago and the rest of the Midwest lately. Temperatures lower than in ANTARCTICA. I mean, damn. Currently glad I live where I do.
Evening's been pretty good regardless of the terrible chill of doom outside, though:
-->Got up the next chapter of "The Technicolor Phase," Emily Purple. It's a cute piece with lots of Victor/Victoria/Alice banter, and Alice having a happy reunion with her family. This is what I like about this AU -- it's largely positive, despite some of the canonical bad shit happening with Barkis and Bumby. There's a lot of extra happy in this world thanks to the colors and people finding each other, and it shows. :)

A) The Sim Supply's final makeover of the Bailey-Moon mansion in Get Famous, which largely consisted of rearranging a terrible layout, making the house feel less empty, and ADDING TOILETS. Seriously, the guy who designed this house put NO TOILETS in the upstairs bathrooms. People in the comments were theorizing the crappy builds might be deliberate, either to troll people like James or provide players with something to sink their teeth into while playing. James's new version looks a lot better and more opulent. . .even if he did accidentally leave a toilet roll stuck in a door with moveobjectson. Everybody was teasing him for that. :p
B) Helloween's latest Doom (2016) set, in which our DoomGuy upgrades his weapons a bit more and then slaughters many many demons on a quest to find the Crucible and reclaim its secrets. Helloween was in fine demon-killing form tonight, let me tell you -- the death and destruction just RAINED down. It's funny how some gore squicks me out, and some I'm okay with -- I think it depends on what's getting killed and how over the top it is. Doom hits just the right marks with its gruesome slaughtering of Hell's finest (and not so finest). Enjoying the heck out of it. :)
C) Linkara's latest Atop The Fourth Wall episode, where he showed off his proud Pokemania while covering a couple of episodes from the anime. Episodes that centered around Ash and his current companions meeting a gym leader who did all her Pokemon battles via her imagination -- as in, she basically decided whether she won or lost by imagining how the battle would go down. Naturally, our protags found this infuriating and ended up forcing her to battle for real, with Ash finally defeating her and getting her to admit that real battles are more fun if nothing else. Pretty "eh" plotline, though Linkara enjoyed the battle scenes. If not the theme song. :p Dude has opinions on his Pokecontent.
-->And I'm all caught up on my VictorLuvsAlice queue again, at least for the moment. And I know what I want to do for Friday and Saturday as well, which is helpful.
All right, that's all that taken care of for the night -- time for the usual emptying the inbox. Hopefully it won't be TOO miserably cold tomorrow morning. . . Fingers crossed all. Night!
