Things Going Kind Of Downhill Sunday
May. 12th, 2019 10:45 pmTwo things, specifically:
A) The weather has indeed completely flip-flopped from yesterday. Cold and rainy all damn day. :( I mean, it's good for keeping our new plants watered, but damn. Such a let-down after yesterday was so damn nice. And it's supposed to be like this for a good chunk of the upcoming week too. . .meh.
B) My damn Outlook program has stopped properly updating itself again -- it's showing e-mails from Saturday that I already deleted. >.< Fortunately I still have my workaround (which is "open the web version in Chrome because that's the browser I know it runs in"), but it's kind of a pain in the butt, you know? Last time it resynched itself after a Windows update -- I don't know when the next one of those is going to come out, though, so hopefully I can figure out something to force it back into showing me the correct stuff.
Other than that, though, day's been pretty quiet overall. Slept in til about ten, gave Mom her Mother's Day card, got wrapped up in TV Tropes stuff and binge-reading tumblr blogs, then had the most tasteless lobster salad sandwich I've ever had in my life. Mom got it from one of the local seafood places, and -- damn. I don't know how they stay in business if that's the kind of shit they sell. Ugh. And then Mom and Dad watched a movie, and I started doing actual productive stuff:
-->Got my pictures for this week's Newcrest Adventures update sorted! :D Only three posts this week, as there wasn't that much to show from the beginning of the Van Dort-Liddell family vacation. Still, good to have that portion of the whole mess taken care of. :p
-->Wrote some on -- one of my private AUs. My brain's been doing the hypnokinky thing, and I figured it was better to sacrifice a day and just get some of it out of my system. ^^; It's still writing! And doing one of the scenes that kept running through my head should help me get back on track for "Secundus 2" tomorrow.
-->Watched a RabbidLuigi video on unsolved mysteries in games (which had some entries I didn't think fit, like urban legends about video games that kill people, or calling Red Dead Redemption's "Strange Man" a mystery while also admitting it's pretty OBVIOUS he's God or Death, just the creators won't definitively say one way or another; on the other hand, that Freeze Zombie bug in Saints Row 2 is a legit mystery that can render a copy of the game useless from one flash of a pixelated figure, so that's genuinely creepy), and another Kubz Scouts/Gloom crossover with those stupid 7-second riddles (this time with a love theme -- what can I say, I enjoy watching them try to figure things out and react to how stupid/extreme some of the riddles are XD). Two more things out of that Watch Later queue! Now I just have the "Outstar on the Bloodlines 2 clans" and "OXBox/OXtra do things" marathons. . .need to start chipping away at those this week.
-->Played some Sims 4 -- got the Van Dorts out of their (very chilly -- I forgot to put in a thermostat!) cabin and into the national forest to enjoy the day once it stopped snowing. Both Victor and Alice managed to convince fellow vacationers to give up a little plasma, and Victor found both a frog (free plasma pack) and some termites! :D So that was all nice. And then they went home, had a snowball fight, made a bunch of snowpals and snow angels, and enjoyed some time by the fire. :) Nothing earth-shattering, but it's nice to have everyone feeling nice and domestic. And hey, the cabins auto-decorate themselves for the upcoming Winterfest! So that's nice. Looking forward to celebrating that there. :)
-->Caught up on The Sim Supply's stuff -- an episode of "Super Sim" (in which, per usual, he went slightly mad trying to keep up with all the kids and the game's bugginess when it comes to certain issues, such as trying to pick up a toddler and move them someplace -- he managed to get everyone into a good space EVENTUALLY, and even scored Max a promotion, but it was hard-won XD), and an episode of Sims 2 (back with Brentnall in college -- he successfully got him into the Sim State secret society, only for them to kidnap Brentnall JUST AS HE WAS DUE TO GO TO HIS FINAL EXAM. Fortunately James was able to get Brentnall to head out once he actually arrived on the lot, and kept him on the Dean's list, yay. He also threw a toga party, which went well, but consisted mainly of Brentnall striking out with a woman he had minimal chemistry with. XD James has now moved him out of the Frat House and is thinking of putting him in one of the other linked colleges for a change -- hopefully that isn't a game corrupter!).
-->Got my Valice Multiverse queue sorted for the upcoming week, yay~
So yeah, more productive day than yesterday, at least. Kinda sad I didn't get to Fallout 4, but then again I did that and skipped Sims 4 last week, so it all balances out. :p Now I just have to take care of my Dreamwidth comments and hit the sack. Another week of work looming. . .at least according to the latest weather report the worst day for temperatures is going to be Tuesday. Then we finally start climbing toward and into the 70s by next weekend, hooray. Fingers crossed they're right! Night all!
