Yeah, the forecast was for today to be much like yesterday -- sunny and warm, with maybe rain developing after 6 o'clock tonight. Instead it was cloudy, warmish (I kept alternating between hoodie and no hoodie), and we had at least one good soaking rain not long after I woke up around 9:30. Which was kind of not good, as my parents had just painted the FLOOR of the porch. . .fortunately it was mostly dry by the time the rain started, and a tarp over the edge saved the rest of it. So yeah, not the most inspiring days weather-wise.

We also had a minor medical thing -- Mom had to go to the doctor to have the splinter removed from her foot, it was in so deep. They had to take X-Rays and everything o.O So she and Dad were gone for a good chunk of the day. At least Mom says her foot is feeling a little better now -- she had to see if she can get a shoe on for work tomorrow still, though. Fingers crossed. . .

And yet, despite all this (hell, maybe partially because of it -- I took the day as a skip from exercise because of the on-and-off "is it gonna rain, is it not" weather, and had my own leftovers lunch because my parents were out), I got a LOT more done today than I did yesterday:

-->Had an early round of Fallout 4! Went ahead and completed the Abernathy locket quest "Returning the Favor," after doing an unmarked "quest" to harvest melons with the daughter Lucy and get paid a bunch of caps. :p So they're happy with me now. Then I took a moment to clear out the mole rat den under the Red Rocket truck stop (little toothy bastards -- fortunately, Dogmeat is very good at ripping them to pieces), before fast traveling to the train depot to resume my search for the plant where the raiders are hiding to complete "The First Step" quest. Have NOT yet managed to find it, but I did find some more goodies at the train depot, found the heavily-mined and mole-rat-infest Starlight Drive-In theater (Victor ended up dead from a mine the first time, and then crippled in both arms from the second -- fortunately I have lots of stimpacks and got him back on his feet quickly), Lexington, and Mystic Pines -- the later of which, according to the list of Fallout 4 locations on the Wiki, is in Lexington. . .as is the Corvega assembly plant, which is where I'm going. Okay then, I did sort of find it! Next time, mosey into Lexington, find the plant, and get ready to surprise some raiders with fast travel power armor. :D

-->Cleared out a bunch of my OXBox/OXtra videos in the Watch Later queue:

A) 7 unnecessary stresses gamers can't help but worry about (such as worrying about autosaves not working, character creation going bad, missing achievements, etc) -- I related to almost every one but Andy's, since that involved online multiplayer leaderboards, which is not a thing I'm into. Though I still do sympathize with not wanting to come last on the damn things.

B) 7 weird bosses that have some explaining to do: like the 7 Mighty Mad Midgets, midgets in card-themed Power-Ranger-esque gear from God Hand, or Joe-Head Joe, who is a guy named Joe with one of of the production team's (also a Joe) head for a body, from Skullmonkeys. Guys, I think games might be weird.

C) 7 scary moments in games that made the OXBoxers and OXtraers stop playing -- poor Ellen didn't even get past the first twenty minutes of Alien: Isolation, she was getting so creeped out by the purely atmospheric scares. And then the first time she tried playing Tomb Raider as a bab, she was surprised by wolves in an early level and had to put THAT one on the shelf too. Poor Ellen -- she is a smol frightened thing. *pats her*

D) An older video I just thought would be funny -- OXBox and OXtra play Mouse Trap! As in, the board game. Mostly because Ellen had never played it before. As I too have never played it before, it was a lot of fun to watch them go through the game, getting all excited as the trap was built, then all stressed out as they entered the "whirlpool of death" and had to see who would be trapped. Good times~

I still have two Hitman 2-related pieces of content from the gang to watch, but as both of those are longer videos, they're best saved for the upcoming long weekend.

-->Double gaming day! :D Yup, found time for Sims 4 as well! The Van Dorts had a lovely Winterfest at their Granite Falls cottage. :) I mean, it was not without its stresses -- trying to get the toddler to just EAT instead of talking to everyone, for starters -- but it was a lot of fun too. The kids even got presents from Father Winter, which is more than the McFly children got when I did Winterfest over there. Even so, I'll be glad for them to go home the next time I play -- I'm rather sick of seeing so much virtual snow all over my screen. (Of course, it's still winter, so Newcrest is likely still pretty white too, but it'll be less oppressive out of the forest, I think.)

-->Wrote another chunk on "Secundus 2" -- Victor explaining the origins of the Grasshopper Teapot to Marty's confused family (and trying to tell the old-timers it's not going to hurt them). Just a little quick and cute exposition -- ending on the mayor on his way to the saloon. Hide that thing, Victor! Quick! :p

-->Caught up on the Sim Supply part of my subscriptions:

A) The latest Super Sim episode -- Max is officially a Sim In Black, and James is officially going through the StrangerVille stuff. And discovered an interesting bug in which Max couldn't rifle through the usual evidence boxes to obtain evidence for whatever reason. James got around it by bugging a bunch of people and getting the resulting audio recordings as evidence, but it was very strange. O.o My theory is that, because he already had the keycard from an earlier requisition, the game thought he'd already done the first two goals for the milestone and disabled them or something. At any rate, Max got around it, and we're back on track with getting the Hazmat suit and the spore filter. Now if only James would slow down and READ for ten seconds, I'd be less frustrated with him not remembering how to do stuff.

B) The latest Sims 2 episode, in which Nina, Eggton, and the kids all go on vacation! James sent them to Twikki Island (I miss the beach worlds!) and promptly had to have them change hotels because the first one he sent them to was too expensive. :p Actually, the second one was too as well, but he decided to chance it just so his Sims would have a place to sleep. (And then he checked out and went to the third, cheapest one, after discovering the cost of the stay would just be added to his bills. . .) At any rate, Eggton's learned how to fire dance, plundered a gold doubloon from the pirate ship, and found buried treasure, while Nina tried to get to know more people using her "Smooth Talk" ability and Doona just hung around some ruins. Maybe not the most exciting vacation, but still fun -- and it really DOES make me wish we had a beach location for vacations in Sims 4. Camping and the jungle are fun, but I need more variety, ya know? Really, if I could just smash Sims 2 and Sims 4 together, I think we'd have the perfect Sims game.

-->And I got the Valice Multiverse queue sorted, yay me. Short one, but it's something!

And now it's time to answer the last comments and go to bed. At least it's a short week this week! And next week. . .and the week after that, sort of. . .basically we're finally moving past the "too much work stress" time of year and into the "oh hey time off" time of year. I can dig it. :p Night all!

I had Mouse Trap as a kid but I never played it legitimately. I'd build the trap and just fool around making up stories about the mice. The piece that held the trap up was broken on mine, so a little tap of the table would bring it down, no Rube Goldberg required.
