You Learn Something New Everyday
Dec. 12th, 2004 10:42 pmDecided to take advantage of a quiet moment in my IMing to play some Sims, Hill Valley-style. First up were the Elder McFlys. It was a pretty quiet day for them -- both Seamus and William had the day off from their job. Seamus called Doc and upped their frienship a bit, then called Clara with the hopes of being friends. They didn't get to that crucial point, but they did get close. Right after he hung up with Clara, Andrea called for Will. Will chatted with her once he got out of the shower -- he had been working out and had become fit. After Will was done with Andrea, Seamus called Clara again, and this time made the cutoff point for friends, fulfilling a want. I left Seamus and Maggie asleep and Will studying cleaning.
Next were the Browns. Poor Clara was in terrible shape after sleeping on the couch -- starving and needing to pee badly. I had her green up quick upon waking up. Jules and Verne made progress on becoming pals once they woke up, and Doc gained some more skills. Clara, Verne, and Doc all had breakfast together before school. Clara went to work shortly after (having eaten two bowls of cereal), leaving Doc to study skills. Shortly before Doc was to leave for work, I got a chance card, in which Clara had the choice of eating red licorice or blue licorice. I chose the red, and got lucky -- she earned herself a 500 simoleon bonus!
Now, here's where it gets interesting. Doc finished studying cooking, and went to work. Shortly after, the school bus arrived, bring home Jules and Verne, along with their new friends Orlando and Marsha (respectively). I hadn't given a second thought to the fact that there were no grown-ups home. Then, while Verne and Marsha played chess and Jules and Orlando chatted, I got a message saying they shouldn't be home alone. And when Clara came home, so did the Social Worker. Clara got a lecture, and that ugly woman tried to take Jules and Verne away.
-D: Tried? What, did you not save?-
Not exactly. Part of the control panel got grayed out -- the build/buy mode buttons, and anything I could use to save or quit. No big deal -- I'd wait until they were gone, exit without saving, and fix my mistake. But then, the social worker got stuck in my house when Doc got home. Not only that, Jules hovered outside her van, stuck in a sitting position. Can we say, "game bug?" I wasn't able to fix it, so I exited, closed down the program, and restarted. I had saved right after Clara got the 500 simoleons, so it was a simple fix -- just keep Doc from going to work. The boys came home to a parent/guardian, although without their friends. Clara also came home near collapse, but just wouldn't sleep in the bed. I left them all in the process of greening.
-D: Well, it was a lucky save with the bug, but I think it's time to download the Sims 2 Patch.-
Yeah, probably. :p
-MDC: *squaky* When do we go to Florida? When do we go to Florida? When do we go to Florida?-
We're leaving the 19th! You can wait six days! DocWolf, any word on my duffle bag?
-DW: *sniff sniff* No luck thus far, sorry.-
Damn it, I could have sworn the darn thing was in my closet. *grr* I want to get my clothes packed up!
-DW: I'll keep looking.-
-VD2: I'll help. My sense of smell should be as good as yours.-
-DW: Thanks. You take downstairs.-
Don't see why it would be downstairs, but whatever helps.
-VD: VDC bios?-
Adding a few final notes. I may put it up sans pictures and figure that out after vacation.
-VD: I'm all right with that. Marty2 and Jennifer2?-
-J2: Would be nice to have pictures, but if you need time to find some. . . .-
Yeah, I do. Wish I knew how to take screencaps. Well, I'm sure I'll find something.
Off to finish off some "Reality Check 2: Double Trouble."
