Well. That Was A Thing.
Sep. 30th, 2019 11:24 pmSo. You know how I've mentioned that one of my coworkers has quit and moved onto another job? (The one whom I ended up buying $54 cupcakes for?)
Yeah, got the news this morning that someone else abruptly resigned on Friday.
My boss.
Did not know a thing about this. Everything seemed normal on Friday! O.o And now it's like -- over the course of two years, it's like we've lost half our department! They've got some people set up to help keep things running in the interim, while they look for another director, but cripes. We were all pretty much in shock. And of course everyone's now nervous about who might be next, what if we lose our jobs, etc etc. Not a great start to the week, that. We made it through the day, doing various little projects, but. . .I dunno. It's just -- not a great feeling to be left in the lurch like that.
Evening was somewhat better -- Dad's truck was a one-day fix, though he wasn't happy about having to take it back in again so soon. If it breaks again and he can't figure out how to fix it on his own, that's it for it. So I have to keep buying my own car a thing on my radar. But once we got back from getting that sorted, I was able to:
-->Get another chunk written on "Secundus 2" -- Victor's back from his impromptu "nap," and his son has been born, yay! :D There has been celebration and sweetness -- rather literally, in fact; Christopher gave him some chocolate cigars. XD Now I just have to have Victor meet his little nugget. . .
-->Listen to the latest episode of the Wyrd Sisters Podcast -- two of the usual sisters were not available this time around, so Manning roped in guest sister Manny (heh) to discuss Guards! Guards!, the introduction of Sam Vimes! :D I still hold that book fondly in my heart as the intro to my favorite Discworld character, and it was great to see the pair discuss it with such enthusiasm. :D Although they did point out some things have aged badly, noticeably Sam threatening a mob with one of Sybil's swamp dragons. Not a good look in a world with numerous police brutality incidents -- and honestly, it's a pretty out-of-character moment for the man Vimes will become. A good indication of how people grow and change throughout this series, I think! But it was good stuff nonetheless, and a nice trip down memory lane. :)
-->Watch a Realm of Magic mod video from The English Simmer -- that's two recommendations for a mod where you can talk to your familiar, so I'm definitely going to have to consider that one! And it looks like I have multiple options for mods to adjust my "who the game picks to become Spellcaster NPCs," which is nice. . . I JUST found out, though, that the next game patch is THIS WEEK (October 3rd, to be exact -- I found out because the patch happens to end support for MacOS Lion 10.7), so no picking up new mods yet! (Not that I could until AFTER the patch. . .hopefully this damn thing fixes some of the bugs I've heard about!)
-->Get the pictures to all four of my Newcrest Adventures posts this week sorted! I find having that done so I have all four posts ready to go for text makes me feel better about my queue. :p
-->Answer one of the comments sitting in my inbox; now I just have to answer the other one and I'm set.
So yeah, that was all all right. Now I just have to see what tomorrow will bring. . . Happy end of September, everyone! This doesn't give me high hopes for October. . .
