Bleedy Sunday
Dec. 22nd, 2019 09:54 pmAs in, my stupid period has finally shown up, which is both terrible and a relief. I mean, I never like getting my period, but at least this way it's over with -- and it'll be pretty much gone by the end of the week, aka my birthday, so that's good too.
It DOES mean that I haven't felt particularly productive today -- good thing it's the holidays, and all my shopping is already done! Though I do need to WRAP presents. . .hmm. Well, still have a little time on that. *rubs eyes* Today was mostly about the YouTubery, though, which consisted of:
A) James Turner inserting himself into the latest Maxis Monthly stream (which, despite the name, is very much NOT monthly) announcing their plans for a cross-platform Gallery for both PC and consoles. It was very silly. XD He also tried to do a "top 10 downloaded lots" thing from his profile, only to be stymied by the Gallery's inability to properly search and sort. *sigh* Still showed off some fun past builds, though!
B) James's next episode of Planet Zoo, which opens with two of his zebras trying to escape their natural enclosure (James managed to stop them, and sharpen the slope that they used to get out so they couldn't take that route anymore) -- and then a wolf escaped because part of the barrier just plain-up COLLAPSED. Cue James hiring a bunch of new mechanics, training a ton of people, researching all the things, and buying a bunch of new animals (a giraffe, some warthogs, a new crocodile, and some wildebeests) in an attempt to boost profits (which, between his loan and new staff, were not looking so hot). Not exactly a zoo disaster, but it skirted the edges occasionally! Hopefully his next episode will be less stressful :p
C) CallMeKevin making a new "college roommates" prisoner shack to fund Jim Pickens's college education! XD And it needs funding -- Jim has basically NO MONEY, because he left it all at his old mansion. He's clawing his way back up from the bottom again! Fortunately, in addition to getting some people to pay his rent, he also has some artistic ghosts on the lot hanging around from his last murder spree. So that's helpful. XD Not so helpful -- he's gotten abducted by aliens AGAIN, and gotten pregnant from it AGAIN. Kevin is a bit sour. XD Looking forward to seeing just how badly this kid/kids turn out!
D) GrayStillPlays breaking his game and sanity with Le Please Kill Me Spa -- which is essentially NINE FLOORS OF SPIRALING SWIMMING POOL (3 basements, 5 regular floors, and the roof). Yes, I didn't know it could be done either! Not that the game LIKED it being done -- the frame rate basically killed itself, saving was not a thing one could do, and Sims who died on their way to the roof and actual human comforts basically just evaporated instead of getting proper death animations. Australia Man managed to power through and win the challenge before the game completely froze. XD
E) GrayStillPlays breaking his game and sanity AGAIN with a horror house of doors, doors everywhere. This one was a mess of copy-pasted rooms and doors in doors in doors -- got to the point where the game was taking at least three minutes to do anything, and just refused to save. At least this time when Sims died, there was usually a death animation! Ellis Dee managed to win this one by being the last Sim standing -- largely because she never made it off the first floor of door hell. XD Oh Gray, you do such horrible things to your game for our amusement. . .
F) OXBox Christmas Challenge -- Mike had to get a star in Overcooked 2's Christmas level making mince pies and Christmas puddings! He had three tries, and -- well, he failed miserably in all of them. In fact, he just got WORSE with each go. To be fair, though, he was playing a game he's bad at, and that is REALLY meant to be played as a two-player cooperative experience. He at least got a moral victory when Jane took the controls to show how it was done -- and couldn't pull it off either. XD She SAID that she'd tried it and succeeded, but -- I dunno how! At any rate, our previous champ is now out of the running, so it's time to see if Andy will manage a final Christmas point and take the win! (I assume Jane will do her final challenge regardless, but I'm hoping for another Christmas tie-breaker, honestly, just to see what they'll come up with.)
G) OXtra Christmas Challenge -- it's the annual Pikachu Art Contest, this time in Mario Maker 2! And not only does it have to be a recognizable Pikachu, it also has to be a properly playable level! Luke and Ellen made their levels entirely separately, as not to influence each other, and Andy, as per usual, judged each blind. Luke's Pikachu ended up winning the day, which I'm not that surprised by -- while I actually liked Ellen's Pikachu's face better, Luke's Pikachu had some actual gameplay elements in it. Ellen's level was just a tour of the Pikachu -- no Bullet Bills to dodge or anything! So Luke's in the lead -- time to see if Ellen can tie them again!
H) And a regular old OXBox list about boss fights where you think you've won, but the game decides the villain is either going to defeat you or get away anyway because plot. Gotta love a good old Hopeless Boss Fight, right? *grrr. . .*
The only other things of note I have managed to accomplish are:
-->A quick poke into Sims -- though I didn't actually play any families. Instead, I spent my time looking at stuff on the Gallery and playing around in CAS (have confirmed the key necklace from Realm of Magic suits Alice, and Victor actually looks quite nice in one of the University styled looks). Downloaded someone's awesome Cheshire cat too. :D Though it occurs to me that I should probably fire up my game tomorrow to do the voting on the next phase of the Community Stuff Pack (since I already did it that way for the first round). . .hmmm. I was gonna play Fallout 4. . .we'll see how I feel.
-->Editing another gift fic, yay~ Two more days, two more fics -- making good progress! :)
And now I'm working on filling up my Valice Multiverse queue (which has been very busy tonight, yes of COURSE on the night I'm feeling grumpy due to periodness I have a lot of asks to answer and threads to reblog), and answering the comments in my inbox. Tomorrow, I am bound and determined to catch up on "Rags To Enrichment" and Atop The Fourth Wall, as well as either play Sims 4 or Fallout 4, to be determined tomorrow afternoon sometime. And wrap Christmas presents, if I don't end up doing that in a last-minute burst of pre-bed energy tonight. (I could at least do Mom's. . .Dad's is a little big bigger, so. . .) Night all!
