Happy Fucking Monday The Thirteenth
Jan. 13th, 2020 11:15 pmIt didn't start out too bad (GL was super-quick, morning was spent cleaning up duplicates for the most part), but around lunch, things started going downhill:
-->Multiple interruptions to my lunch break, with lots of little problems I wasn't sure how to solve
-->Growing stress from trying to get my desk more organized in the wake of these little problems
-->More fun with the online giving people and returns, aka me having to ask them to do some
-->Growing desire for my coworker to just SHUT UP as she starts going on and on about the show "Naked And Afraid" (I don't fucking want to hear about people getting bug infestations in the jungle, thanks)
-->Leave and find that the route onto the highway is all jammed up, so I have to cut through the city
-->SOME ASSHOLE IN AN SUV PRACTICALLY RAMS INTO ME AND FORCES ME HALF INTO THE OTHER LANE SO THEY CAN CUT AROUND ME WITH NO TURN SIGNAL, THEN FLY INTO THE THIRD LANE -- I mean, they didn't actually HIT me, but fucking hell, it was close. Naturally I spent the rest of the ride home mildly paranoid whenever another car got a little too close to me
-->Dad's problem teeth can't be pulled yet, not until the swelling around them goes down -- at least he got some better painkillers
-->Baking muffins in our new convection oven (bought because, as I'm sure I've mentioned, the oven part of our stove crapped out because the darn thing is over 50 years old; this appliance gives us more time to shop for a new one because it'll involve some counter adjustment and finding just the RIGHT stove) took longer than I thought because Mom started it heating up WAY sooner than I had the muffins ready (I didn't realize until too late the timer on the stove to count down the baking was already ticking when I was only just getting the dry ingredients mixed) -- also, Mom keeps insisting they're supposed to be brown on the top, but I can't stop myself thinking that at least one got burnt because it's SUPER dark thanks to being one of the smaller ones. *sigh*
-->Tumblr took one of my queued posts and published it at 8:57 PM instead of at 1:40 PM, like it was scheduled. Which is actually an improvement over what I originally thought when I saw the damn thing hadn't fired and discovered it wasn't in my queue anymore, which is "fuck, it ATE the damn post." At least now I don't have to try and recreate it at a later date. . . And now I'm wondering if I should move the Sims posts I just stuck into the queue back into my drafts, because I have no idea how much I can trust the queue now. (At least I've got all four for Wednesday started, with pictures in place. . .)
-->Just some general headachey stuff from sinuses (I don't think they like the changeover from warm to cold any more than I do)
Really, the only things I can say that were truly good about the day were:
-->Chatty coworker at least brought in brownies
-->There was tons of free leftover bread after one of the director meetings -- I brought some home, and am going to turn some into a sandwich tomorrow for lunch
-->Writing on "Londerland Bloodlines" went smoother than I anticipated for having to poke around to find a particular NPC conversation in Helloween's LP; transcribing the convo and adding description and suchlike took about a page, so yay
-->Got to watch a couple of fun videos on Sims -- James doing a "base game and Seasons only" video for EA, in which he had actual fun with the holidays (possibly because he was getting paid to, but it's nice to see him enthusiastic about that sort of stuff again. He totally ignores it in all his latest LPs, then complains when Sims get sad about missing holidays); Carl's Sims Guides outlining what he thinks some of the best features from the Sims expansion, game, and stuff packs are (burning incense for various moodlet boosts, the systems for leveling up vampire and spellcaster powers and celebrity perks, the bee box and its plant quality bonuses, the "Beach Living" aspiration -- wait, what? I thought we all didn't like that?); and that video on the working amusement park rides I mentioned yesterday (they're still kind of works in progress -- only one Sim at a time can use the Ferris Wheel, Merry-Go-Round, and Roller Coaster; child Sims apparently can't use these objects (I assume because the animations aren't there -- the creator is using the vampire bat transformation to load Sims into and out of the items); and the Roller Coaster apparently does not give fun. I mean, they're still cool, and mostly nicely animated, but I'm not sure I'm entirely sold on them yet)
-->Got inbox comments done early, so that's good
And now it's time to wrap up for the night and head to bed -- I probably WILL put my Sims posts into my drafts, though. I want to see what the hell happens with the two posts I have scheduled for Tuesday first. *sigh* Hopefully tomorrow doesn't cause me so much stress. . .night all!
