Another Cranky, Tense Morning
Mar. 24th, 2020 11:30 pmI think there are a few factors at work here, and they are as follows:
-->Having to find the right balance between my work life and my home life, especially when it comes to what I can do when working from home. There was more activity than I expected today, and it threw me off a bit -- though, honestly, I think the main problem is, I really, really hate getting texts from my coworkers. My phone's vibrate buzz makes me jump every time, and getting texts on it can be a bit of a chore because it's a flip phone trying to make sense of smart phone texts. . .not to mention, I lost a good chunk of my morning to waiting around for an e-mail to be answered while reading TV Tropes. Gotta work on that tomorrow! And hope for less texts.
-->My parents catching every news report they can from the governor of New York, our own governor, and the Orange Cheeto -- it's important to stay informed, I know, but it does tend to wear on you to hear about the new cases, worrying about New Yorkers fleeing to their vacation homes here, and everything the Cheeto says. *sigh*
-->My parents hauling in a grocery store run -- which included wiping down every container they could before bringing it into the house, and general grumpiness from trying to get it all in and put away and get hands washed and all that. Just -- stressful. Fortunately not something that should repeat for a little while now! And we got cookies out of it, soo. . .
-->Possibly a touch of stir-craziness -- so far, I think I'm doing okay, but I haven't actually gotten out of the house since the office closed on Thursday. . .might go out into the backyard for a few minutes tomorrow if the weather's decent, just to get a touch of fresh air.
-->Also possibly I might be PMSing, but I think it's a little early. Who knows for sure, though!
*deep breath* So yeah, not exactly the greatest Tuesday of my life. But I did get some good stuff accomplished!
-->I did get the work stuff I needed to get done, done -- at least when that e-mail was finally answered! So that was good.
-->Watched all the GrayStillPlays I had in the Watch Later (plus one old Call Me Kevin video that popped up in my recommendeds -- him playing Plague Inc., in fact! Feels topical) -- he:
A) Evolved species in negative gravity, creating various races of terrible nightmare spider things along the way
B) Built a city where all the water was polluted, there was no power, no leisure, no nothing. . .and 246 people still stayed. Some folks just won't give up city living!
C) Became a super-successful Altlife UToober with a cannibal cooking show -- and deleted his channel at 300 Million Subscribers just because he could XD
D) Went undercover as a cop at a speed-dating event to track down a criminal who'd just disemboweled someone with a sword -- met, uh, quite the cast of characters, including a goth girl who enjoyed killing (not the killer), and a dude who basically looked like a low-rent Count Chocoula (also not the killer). Our lovely protagonist's choices? Date someone and find happiness -- at the expense of 77 other people killed by the murderer; lock up the wrong person and have those same 77 murders on their conscience; or lock up the killer and remain alone, oh so alone. Perfect Gray game! XD
E) Started a comic book company to ruin childhoods -- with such characters as Gococaine, Power Single Mom, and Sgt. Unemployed (who is basically broke-ass Skynet, according to Gray). First attempt left him so heavily in debt he broke the game; the second time, he managed to somehow read the market better and get his guy to do more work, and made a cool million. Not too shabby!
F) Created a plague in Plague Inc. (oh, look, there is again) themed around the world's catchiest Starbucks commercial, where people literally lost their jobs for dancing at work and went on killing sprees over anger at wasting their lives on this song. Gray, ruining the world one ear worm at a time. :P
-->Played some Fallout 4 -- Victor and Preston are out and about, doing Minutemen Missions! And accidentally stumbling across Mechanist robots attacking caravans along the way, so guess I'm sort of advancing Ada's quest at the same time? *shrug* Also poked around more of Wicked Shipping (had to stay there during a radiation storm) and killed another set of Rust Devils that jumped us on the way to the settlement -- just another day in the Commonwealth!
Anyway, completed the Sunshine Tidings mission -- just a few feral ghouls hanging around an old farm that housed some hippies wanting to free robots. They got one Mr. Handy, who now flies in circles spouting "groovy" and the like. XD Built a beacon to attract settlers, then had to quickly fix the place up FOR settlers when two arrived out of the blue. Managed to get them food, water, and some good turrets, so yay. Then I hopped back to Sanctuary to do a lot of armor and gun upgrades, now that I had a lot of good raw materials. . .then it was over to Abernathy Farm, since it had an "alert" sign next to it. Turns out they're being troubled by raiders, so Preston and I have to go take care of them too. At least now I've got some great new armor to defend myself! And an extra point in Strength, since I leveled up. :) I think this is actually the part of the game I like the most -- just roaming around, killing random enemies and helping out people in small ways. Maybe that's why it's so hard for me to focus on the main plot. XD
-->And now I'm finishing up my Victor Luvs Alice and Valice Multiverse queues before heading to bed -- I might have been farther ahead on the former if the entry I was working on before dinner hadn't glitched out and refused to queue, forcing me to redo a good chunk of it. *grumbles* well, I'm almost done with both, then I can turn in for the night. Tomorrow, I'll hopefully have a better handle on my work situation, and I'll be able to fit in a bunch of Plumbella, James, and Sims 4! Fingers crossed, folks! Night!
