Patch Installed, Sims 4 Not Broken
Apr. 11th, 2020 11:21 pmDidn't get that weird loading screen/game packs glitchiness you got,
gigs_83, so that was good at least. Made sure to copy my save files and such over to a special folder in Documents first, though -- and take out my mods and CC for a quick poke around my "patch testing" save before putting them back in. So far, everything appears to be behaving itself -- we'll see how it goes as I continue playing! (Also, I looked it up -- you might want to try "repairing" your game, Gigs, to see if it'll help your weirdness. If you right-click on the game's icon in Origin, a menu should come up with "repair" as one of the options. Worth a try, right?)
Anyway, I didn't really play the game -- I just wanted to get the update over and done with, and do a quick check to make sure it hadn't eaten itself. I did, however, succeed in my task to catch up on Sims-related videos today:
-->A video from Fantayzia regarding someone's pretty awesome save file -- they did some beautiful builds, including an awesome restaurant in Newcrest with multiple levels and waterfalls. :D Unfortunately, they used some special cheats to try and give some of their families university degrees without, you know, actually sending them to university, and it looks like it's permanently screwed up the file. :( She is apparently starting work on a fresh one, though, so good for her for not letting it stop her!
-->Two videos from Plumbella -- one about an awful "shell challenge" build she made (where someone makes the outer "shell" of a building, uploads it to the Gallery, and then others have to take the shell and -- without changing the outer walls -- make it into something cool), which has a weird triangular bit on the roof and another weird overhanging bit on the side, and she was FAR too proud about how terrible it was. XD And the other was her playing some more Sims Medieval, where she discovered that going on a royal holiday in the game is basically a one-choice text-pop-up rabbithole (she was annoyed, as well she should be), and that lost children are never as lost as you think (little brat turned up in the town square after making her wander all over the countryside). Always a good time with Plumbella!
-->One LilSimsie video where she took on one of Plumbella's older shell challenges -- I thought it was the "Plumhella Shell" from the video I watched today, but no, it was an earlier one. Still had a weird bumpy bit coming out the side! But Kayla turned it into a pretty cute family home, so props there to her.
-->A video from RedPlumbob about unique deaths across the whole of the Sims series -- first game only had two, but trust me, Maxis REALLY upped their death game with the rest of the series. The Sims 3 deaths, especially the mummy's curse, could be downright disturbing! More cartoony and fun deaths, please. . .
-->The latest "Rags to Repayment" episode from James Turner -- the Bigwallets are back in Britechester, and starting their side hustle as landlords! This involved mostly lots of little renovations to the lot to help them access all their stuff (and a certain roommate's bedroom, eventually -- yes, James built a secret roof passage so Bob and Elsa could eventually see each other without needing to go through any doors); inviting a bunch of their recently-resurrected friends over to become roommates (an involved process that entailed evicting the household they were currently in, then splitting it up into multiple members because apparently you can only ask single people to be your roommate); and desperately figuring out how to lock the doors so that the roommates stayed in THEIR house and Bob and Trash stayed in THEIRS (it was -- an experience XD Not helped by the fact James didn't realize one of the roommates had ended up in the Bigwallet house for ages despite going past her multiple times getting food for the toddler and such). It was a lot of fun, even if it looked super frustrating for James. Kind of especially because it looked super frustrating for James. XD
-->And Kevin's latest Sims 4 episode, in which Turg (his Mii) is introduced to the Jim Pickens Sim-ematic Universe. Courtesy of an extreme morphing mod that then proceeded to make some extra-screwed-up townies for us all to gape at. XD Turg went on a woohooing spree with a bunch of women in the town, picking up girlfriends and making babies! And attempting to take care of his dog, though he wasn't very good at it. As a trip to Jim's Pufferfish Nigiri restaurant proved, Kevin is much better at tormenting and killing Sims than he is at being nice to them! XD
So all that was fun. Most of the rest of my day was spent on the Fallout 4 section of TV Tropes and "Not Always Right" -- not exactly the best day for concentration. I made an attempt to get some more done on "An Introductory Guide To Magic" (my new Saturdays FVV project), but it kind of devolved into me rereading bits of "Fixing You." ^^; I did make SOME edits, at least. . .but I suspect whipping this into shape is going to take longer than I thought. Especially with my brain distracted by Fallout 4 and various crossover ideas with Bloodlines, Portal, and BioShock, because it CANNOT CALM DOWN WITH THE CROSSOVER STUFF FOR FIVE MINUTES.
Ah well -- it's Saturday, it's technically a holiday weekend, and I'm coming off my period -- I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I will get back into the writing groove again tomorrow with "Secundus 2" and work my way back up to productivity. Maybe actually playing Fallout 4 tomorrow will help. I also have to catch up on James's Animal Crossing New Horizons videos, so that'll be fun too. :) Night all -- happy Easter Eve!
