crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

I've got quite the list of videos watched -- though most of them were NOT in my Watch Later:

A) The now-usual Fluffy Ninja Llama stuff – companions reacting to siding with the Institute. X6-88 is of course thrilled; Nick and Piper are pissed (though Piper apparently can come around somewhat if your affinity with her is high enough); Danse and Deacon are dead thanks to the Institute insisting on wiping out their factions; Strong is happy that super mutants now have one enemy to focus on; and everyone else is largely "eeeh, I'm not thrilled about it, but whatever makes you, the scary Player Character, happy."

B) The trailer for the upcoming Sims 4 expansion pack Eco Living! . . .I thought it genuinely looked kinda cool, but the comment section did not agree in the slightest. I mean, I get what they're saying – this could be another "game pack stretched out into an expansion," kind of like Island Living, and it's not something related to the stuff they've been asking about in the latest surveys – but I want to give it a chance? We did ask for this kind of stuff back when they did the Laundry Day stuff pack? It looks to at least have one asked-for item – ladders? I dunno – I did finally break down and buy both Tiny Living and Moschino, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask. (Though admittedly, I did so because I had a $25 Amazon gift card, and thus didn't actually have to pay for them myself, soooo. . .)

C) Plumbella's reaction to said trailer – which I was happy to see was more along the lines of what I was thinking. Namely, "wasn't what I was expecting, but you know what? It could be cool, should give it a chance." :) I liked her saying that she's probably gonna play primarily in the "smoggy" version of the town, though, since it reminds her of good old Middlesborough, where she lives. XD

D) James's reaction to said trailer – he also seems reasonably excited for it! Though, again, he's in favor of keeping the world dirty for the aesthetic. XD Naturally, he's also in favor of some of the build mode updates, like ladders and shipping container wallpapers and grass roofs. He also read off some of the pack notes – apparently there's going to be a community lot where one can vote on what kind lot it'll be (possibly weekly?), and a new freelance "Crafter" career where you can dumpster dive for materials. So that sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to how he handles his eventual LP! Sounds like a pack where you could do it and the upcoming Nifty Knitting stuff pack at the same time. . .

E) LilSimsie making a Sims 4 house out of a plumbob shape – inspired by the fact that she's been doing lots of weird house builds lately (such as a triangle, an octagon, and a carrot – no, seriously!). It actually turned out better than you might have thought for a house with such sharp corners – she found a way to make a bedroom, a bathroom, an open-plan living and dining area, and a patio work! Very impressive~

F) Carl's Sims Guides takes on the Doctor career in Sims 4! Highlighting perfectly why it can be such a frustrating career – namely, your darn coworkers DO NOTHING. Would be nice if the receptionist actually LET PATIENTS IN as beds became available! Or if the nurses could treat patients if you're busy with something else! My orderly actually does make beds and such, but. . . *grumbles* It's just frustrating. Carl had a lot of fun taking the piss out of it, though. XD That and the goal-based days – so easy to back yourself into a corner if you're not careful! Though I've actually had that problem much more with Scientist. . .looking forward to when he does that one. :)

G) The Spiffing Brit showing off a strange mining exploit to get lots of items to sell for big dosh in Sims 3! Yes, it was the grand adventures of Sir Cumference and Toby Larone, with Sir getting big and buff before buying a mining drill, uncovering a cave system, and going down the hole to seek out treasures! What's the exploit, you ask? Why, by making sure Sir's Social need is completely bottomed out, you can break the usual "quest," meaning instead of taking five Sim hours to get stuff and then filling in the hole, Sir pops out ten minutes later, with the quest having auto-completed but the hole still in place to explore! And with lots and lots of weird and expensive rocks, gems, and other sundries in his inventory! Spiffing Brit got tons of weird space rocks, a handful of expensive gems, and apparently the biggest lobster in the history of the world. o.O Good going, Brit!

H) Call Me Kevin returning to the world of The Sims Online – this time as his old buddy Turg! Or "Turrg," as he had to be spelled this time. There was much trolling going on, and about an equal amount of banning. Apparently a LOT of people were inspired by his Jim Pickens video (particularly constantly throwing away the food), and the regulars have had enough of it! One lot trapped him in a fence before kicking him out so he couldn't cause more chaos, and another – the place where we ended the video – found a way to drop an anvil on his head. Sooo, yeah. XD

I) Gray Still Plays doing a less-lethal experiment in Sims 4 this time – Ellis Dee having a husband-off! XD What that means is, he did two rounds where she had 50 husbands each (possible via MC Command Center), and the winner was whoever got her to woohoo with them first. The two winners were then put head to head, with the ultimate winner being, again, the first to woohoo. Random blond Tim-Horton-alike Evan Thorn was the winner the first round, while Australia Man got her to the hot tub of love the second round. It was close for a while in the third round, with Australia Man getting an early lead – but Evan swooped in and got her woo and hoo while Australia Man slept. XD Hoping this gets Evan promoted to main character – and leads to a similar flipped experiment with Florida Man as the husband. XD

Cripes, that's a lot. . .admittedly, most of them were short, but still. O.o I did manage a few other things, though:

-->Finished up my Thursday "converting Malkavian!Alice's Bloodlines stats into Fallout 4 ones" post and got that into the queue -- and just a little bit ago, queued up a couple more things through the start of Saturday (I have no updates for Friday, so I just threw up a "ask me about a character" questionnaire thing I had in the drafts for a day I had nothing good to say. We'll see if anything comes of it!). So at least that's mostly covered!

-->Got the dates for my next two owed gift fics sorted -- turns out I was thinking a day ahead for both! Good thing I double-checked. . .also have ideas for both, and I'll be writing the initial drafts tomorrow and Friday, with a review on Monday and Tuesday of next week. :)

-->Also wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- came up with the idea of using a crystal pendant to mark the newspaper articles telling the story of the Ocean House and its murders (plus the wife's diary), since in a way they're "memories" for Alice to collect. :) Also she's plunged into the basement of the hotel now, and I'm bringing in some Wonderland imagery -- either some Deluded Depths stuff (as she was just talking to Carpenter about ghosts in his built-out-of-shipwrecks theater), or Land of Fire and Brimstone (which might fit better with a hotel that suffered a massive fire). We'll see how it goes! Also, I've given the wife ghost a name, because she never gets one and she deserves one -- calling her Dorothy, because I found it on a list of names popular for girls in 1930 (since I figured she was probably born in that decade to be married with kids in 1958) and -- well, it's hard to resist the "Oz" connection when I'm already writing about Alice Liddell.

-->Spent a little time looking at a mod list set up by someone on Nexus Mods (who I assume knows at least SOME of what they're doing, given they helped co-author a bunch of big quest mods). It just feels like a good way to get a few good top-rated mods to improve my experience -- and hey, author kindly provided a sample load order, so I can see what goes where! I've got a couple of other mods I'd like to pop in that aren't represented, but there's some talk on there on how to use FO4Edit to check for conflicts, so. . .maybe this weekend I'll swallow my fears and try to come to grips with that. Would be nice to get everything I want into the game and just get GOING on it again. Even if I do restart.

-->And played some Sims 4 -- went ahead and had a pretty quiet day with Eric going to work, getting a new case, going to the crime scene, finding evidence and taking photos and witness reports, heading back to the station and analyzing everything, then coming home and talking to his dog. Very low-key, to contrast with the shit-show that happened last time I played him. *pats* I'm thinking next time I play him (once I'm done with the A-Maze-Ing Wonderland), I'm either holding a party or going to get him magic. He's from a game where he uses the stuff, after all! And he deserves a) something good happening and b) a way to defend himself against other occults after the Andy mess.

And now it's time to answer the stuff in the inbox and wrap things up, because I have to get to bed very shortly. Work day tomorrow! Hopefully it's not TOO stressful. . .probably will be, but what can one do? *sigh* No commute, Vic, just look at it that way. . . Night all!
