Dad's got Lyme disease! Yes, seriously -- we have no idea how he got bit (it's up in his ARMPIT), but he did, and now he's got antibiotics and whatnot to take. It LOOKS like we caught it pretty early, but still. Seeing him go all feverish tonight did NOT do good things for my brainspace. And it was already not in a great place because of my dentist appointment. Which, you know, went well -- confirmed I don't have a fever with their temperature-testing gun-thing, cleaning was quick, as usual the only thing they had to say to me about my mouth was "those wisdom teeth probably should come out at some point" but like FUCK am I having surgery during this if I can avoid it -- but again I say, STILL. I wear my mask, I keep to myself, I try not to panic over every little twinge, but. . . Sometimes it feels like I'm in this awful permanent anxiety bubble and I just want OUT. I want to live life NORMALLY again. It SUCKS.
*deep breath* Okay, now that THAT'S off my chest, a couple of the more positive things that happened today:
-->Spent some more time in Fallout 4, doing my best to test a companion mod that gives them infinite ammo and better accuracy among other bonuses. Wandered around the map a bit, dealing with some truly terrible texture/asset pop-in (a good chunk of Sanctuary needed a half-minute to load!) occasionally, then fast-traveled to a settlement that was falsely reporting happiness going down and built them an outhouse. And then I wandered the map, dealt with some more pop-in, and ended up getting into a fight with some Mechanist bots, a couple of Institute Synths, and a super mutant (there would have been more, but one of them blew himself and his buddy up before we even knew they were there!). Preston's accuracy IS better, I think, so that's good. I'm not sure what's going on with that pop-in though -- wasn't happening before I loaded the mod, but knowing Bethesda games, I'm not entirely sure the mod itself is to blame. I guess we'll see what happens as I continue adding stuff. Up to 15 mods now, and getting into adding the heavier stuff. . .
-->We played some more of the beanbag game again -- I didn't have the best day, coming in last in the first two games and second in the third (Dad won all three -- this was before he got all feverish and meh). Though, as Dad said, we're all getting a lot closer, and I started off okay in each game. I just have a bit of trouble keeping my aim true sometimes! But I'm getting bags in the holes, so that's what counts.
-->Worked a bit more on "An Introductory Guide To Magic," finishing off "Chapter One" with a list of common names for magic-users and the three things magic cannot do (fully resurrect the dead as in "restore them to life" (obviously the dead can visit the Land of the Living, but they stay dead), allow you to time travel in a way that influences the past (there's a super-high-level spell where you can OBSERVE, but that's it -- and you can't travel to the future at all), and make someone fall in love with you (the usual 'this is creepy behavior no' disclaimer). I was GONNA do some gift fic stuff for a friend whose birthday is coming up, but I started writing not long after hearing Dad had a temperature, so -- not in the right mindset for that. At least with this fic I could just adapt some lists I already had on hand! Gift fic stuff must wait until tomorrow.
-->You know what usually works to chase away the blues? GrayStillPlays videos! Featuring:
A) Grand Theft Auto V! Which was – unexpected, as the title was "using 1000 airplanes to destroy all existence," so I was expecting more X-Plane 11. But no, Gray had a different aim in mind – using the Hulk (who is apparently in this game?? Dunno if he's a mod or unlockable or what) to smash up as many airplanes as possible at the airport, with the intent of breaking the game. As you might guess by the title, he was successful at one thousand, which caused the game to totally crash. XD It was a delightful episode of destruction, and I kinda hope he does more!
B) Field Hospital! Where Gray had to decide who lived and who died during a war. Naturally, his first run-through, he just refused to treat anyone because he wanted as many people to die as possible. XD To be fair, though, he had a soldier who shot one of his nurses as a patient. Plus an opera singer who really, REALLY deserved to die. And even when he treated the assholes, most of them ended up suffering or dying anyway (like the lady who became an alcoholic then killed herself after the loss of her husband to the war and her father to cancer). Dark game! Not helped by the fact that Google Translate was in charge of writing (so many misspellings. . .)
C) Save The Girl! Where the objective is to save the girl as she works her way through a world full of utterly mental puzzles. Unfortunately for Gray, oftentimes the dumbest-looking option is actually the RIGHT one – like using a bucket to cross a giant gap (turns out it's full of cement, whereas if you use the board, it'll snap halfway through). Or getting rid of a guy chasing you by THROWING YOUR BRA TO BLIND HIM. XD It's great, and since he's only on level 32 or so, I think we can expect a sequel~
And now I'm just catching up with all the things, finishing up my Valice Multiverse queue and suchlike. No Friday Night Writing Thing tonight -- neither me nor my partner is in the right headspace. So I'm just gonna listen to Fallout music and do more catching up before -- I dunno, maybe binging Not Always Right or something. Tomorrow -- full room clean (I didn't feel like it this afternoon, though I did at least dust my desk and my windowsills to get rid of some of that accursed pollen), then either an OXBox marathon or a James Turner one -- I'm behind on both. Might check on my Sims 4 stuff and see about buying Eco Lifestyle too. . .video games are helping keep me sane in his hell year, so yeah. Night all! Let's all hope tomorrow is a bit better!

Date: 2020-06-14 03:17 am (UTC)And yeah, we do too. He seems to be doing okay so far -- medication is keeping the temperature down, and while he slept a good chunk of the morning away, he was up and about for most of the day. So fingers crossed!
