At Least Somewhat More Productive Sunday
Jun. 28th, 2020 11:26 pmNot perfect -- most of the morning and a good chunk of the afternoon was spent just lounging, either rereading the Moist Von Lipwig Discworld books or random stuff online -- but I did get some things accomplished:
-->Played The Sims 4 and got through another day with Emmett and Nikal! They hit the Flea Market and got a nice new couch, and both managed to level up in their magic, yay~ Emmett also won a duel against a random Sim who challenged him, so that was cool too. Still no luck in getting Nikal pregnant, though! I might try one more time next weekend -- and if that doesn't work, I think I'll have them adopt. I was already planning that for Wheatley and Chell at some point anyway -- no harm in two couples doing it!
-->We had a few rounds of the beanbag game this afternoon, in a short nice spot between "ugh it's so super muggy I hate it" and "HOLY CRAP THUNDERSTORM." Dad won the first game, with me taking second, and then Mom won the next two games with Dad taking second. *shrug* Ah well. Though all of the games were pretty close! It now only takes us about a half-hour to play as we're all much better at scoring most of the time. (Though both Mom and I have our share of bad throws.)
-->Found some time for Fallout 4 as well! Did a little more with the Vault 88 quests -- tried out a new legendary "Deadeye" revolver I picked up, and am QUITE enjoying the brief "slow time" effect it gives me while aiming! I'm gonna have to mod the hell out of this sucker. . . Anyway, we cleared the rubble, met Overseer Barstow, killed the feral ghouls "bunking" with her, and started building up the vault!
. . .and have run into a weird issue where I can't build her Overseer's desk. I can find it in the Special menu, but the game won't let me actually PLACE it -- the outline never goes green. I'm not at all sure what's going wrong here. I tried looking it up after saving and quitting, but the bug reports I found were for other issues (namely, choosing the wrong desk -- there's a more generic version in a different Furniture menu -- and Barstow not actually using the desk once it's built). I asked my tumblr friend who plays Bethesda games as well, but he be stumped. I'm wondering if the mod I'm supposedly testing -- an overhault of some of the Vault 88 stuff, including improving the lights and adding new walls and stuff -- is interfering? I'll have to poke at it next weekend, see what the deal is.
-->Wrote some more on Chapter 9 of "Secundus 2" -- the gang has learned that the Tannens are no longer in jail, and are freaking out a bit. As you do, especially when you've deduced that they seem to have a friend who has a grudge against Secundusians (Victor in particular). About halfway through the chapter now -- I dunno if I'll have an update ready for next Sunday (four pages left to go over), but I'm definitely in a good position to make the Sunday after that!
-->Plumbella night in YouTube! We had:
1. Plumbella looking at death throughout the Sims series – namely, death by cooking, to see whether Sims "want to die" (aka are too stupid to keep themselves alive). To this end, she made families of two men and two women with identical personalities, then set them up in a four-kitchen "house," where only one kitchen had a smoke alarm. Sims 1 Sims were surprisingly smart and, while they did a lot of cooking with no skill to back it up, they also tended to use the kitchen with the smoke alarm, and thus survived. Sims 2 Sims – well, three of the Sims died pretty quickly (with one of the ladies burning down her entire kitchen), but one of the men lingered on for AGES, getting just enough snack food to keep himself going before hunger finally took him. Sims 3 Sims got around the problem by basically just having quick meals all the time. And Sims 4 Sims mostly ignored the kitchens to play on their phones, and when they did eat, they didn't tend to start fires. So, basically, for maximum chaos and death, at least when it comes to cooking? Sims 2. XD
2. Plumbella makes a rainbow club build in honor of Pride month! As in shaped LIKE a rainbow (aka the arch), though of course she also used lots of rainbow colors too. It came out really well, I have to say! Basement floor is check-in and bathrooms; first floor is karaoke and drinks; second floor is dancing! All really well done – tempted to download it, frankly. :)
3. And Plumbella shows off a bunch of builds inspired by her evilest, most triangle-y shell challenge yet. . .and they are GORGEOUS. This awesome Japanese village (which is totally base game!); a museum dedicated to the Curious brothers of Sims 2 (including their famous telescope viewing platform!); a zombie apocalypse bunker (with all sorts of fun details); a steampunk house (they built a little hot air balloon outside!); and a cyberpunk minicity (so much NEON). It was amazing, and I am so impressed by the love everyone's put into making that shell into something great. :)
-->And then I spent a lot of time catching up on tumblr tags and whatnot, so I'm just finishing up queues and comments right now. And then it's off to bed, where I will hopefully get some decent sleep without too much of The Anxiety (tm). (It's essentially worry over getting COVID, worry over what could happen to me if I DO get COVID, my brain trying to interpret everything as something going wrong along the above lines, and a weird combination of stir-craziness and "I don't want to go anywhere ever"-ness. It is not fun and I do not recommend it.) Tomorrow -- more work, hopefully with FINALLY FINISHING UP SOME OF THESE ACCURSED EXCEPTIONS. Ugh. . .at least summer hours start next Friday, meaning it's officially a short week. And then a long weekend because holiday, yay~ We'll see what it does for my mood. Night all!
