Just Another Hot And Sticky Monday
Jul. 20th, 2020 10:52 pmFortunately I didn't have to be out in it much, but walking to and from the Diocese building? Yeah, just that was a bit "oof." And then it started raining a bit on my way home! Not much, fortunately, but for like the length of a street we had a pretty steady downpour. The pop-up storms of summer are weird, let me tell you. At least it stopped so I could stay dry getting into the house.
Work was all right for the most part. I made a list of all the exceptions I still need to take care of so I can see what I need to do for them, then spent most of the rest of the day finding ID numbers for checks. Tried to post a bunch of them too, but the amounts weren't adding up quite right, so I need to wait on that until tomorrow. *grumble* What I get for putting on such a big batch at the end of the day and realizing too late the matching gift that's part of one of the checks can't be done in the same batch as the others. . .meh. I'll sort it out tomorrow and become a lean mean posting machine.
And then it was back home to:
-->Rewatch Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd visiting Jimmy Kimmel's show back in 2015 as Doc and Marty -- I'd seen the clip before, but Mom sent to me in an e-mail, and I figured it was worth a rewatch. Pretty funny stuff -- though in a sad way occasionally, with them jokingly saying 2015 sucks and me looking back at it and going, "Oooh, just wait five years. . ."
-->Get in a workout, because I will at least make an attempt at staying fit. . .even if I later had a tiny piece of cake, because Mom baked one. XD Look, we can all agree 2020's a trash fire, right? I think I can have desserts!
-->Wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- Alice looted Virgil's Foxy Boxes key, and is now back on the hunt for Lily. I ended up having her just go straight to the freezers and get the code for the keypad in there from the Wonderlanders. Being a Malkavian has certain advantages, and it's not like she's collecting XP points for stuff like finding the password on the computer in this world. :P Writing saving Lily should be interesting, though. . .
-->Caught up on some of the stuff in my Watch Later:
A) Like Linkara and the next installment of Event Comics Month: House of M! That series that lead to the decimation of Marvel's mutant-kind for seven freaking years. It's a pretty interesting story, at least in my view – the Scarlet Witch bringing about a reality where most of the people she knows live happier lives and mutants are the dominant species, but then everything breaks down again and she angrily declares "no more mutants" before "restoring" the old reality – but apparently it's padded all to hell, and that really hurts it as an event. A shame, really – a lot of good things could have been done with it! And next up is Secret Empire, which – welp, Nazis are involved, so you know that's gonna be fun!
B) And a little more Call Me Kevin:
1. An old "this is my set-up" video from almost two years ago! Yeah, I'm late to the party, but it kept popping up in my recommendeds, and I was curious. I dunno how much the set-up has materially changed since then, but it was neat to see how he had it all going back then. :)
2. Paper Mario: The Origami King, which I assume to be the latest in the Paper Mario series and features the world's creepiest Peach. I mean, it's one thing to have her in a weird origami form, asking Mario to be creased like her – it's another to have Kevin reading out her lines in the graveliest voice he can manage. XD We didn't get particularly far into it, but we got far enough to see Luigi (who is a bit of a dick in this world) apparently die, and Mario start throwing confetti around like he just don't care (it has an in-game use, but it's funnier to think he's just throwing it around at random). Also he got creepy accordion-arms to feel walls (yes, really). Also also, putting boomboxes into water in this world fixes them, apparently. Life tip? :p
3. And more Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! Yeah, haven't seen this in a while, have we? No wild obstacle courses for Harry today – mostly it was torturing creatures for potion ingredients and nearly getting killed by Voldemort when Hagrid dragged him into the Forbidden Forest (in a rather surprising change from canon). Also the big Quidditch match where Harry's broom got cursed and he nearly ate the Snitch. Fortunately Demonic Hermione and her blue flames managed to save him. XD Good times – good, weird times. XD
-->Caught up on webcomics, then posted the gift fic and the initial "starter" posts for Newcrest Adventures in my VictorLuvsAlice queue for Wednesday! Went back and actually did the full text for the first one (though no picture captions; I might skip them simply because you can only see them if you go directly to my tumblr to view the post -- they're no longer visible when you click pictures to make them bigger on the dash. Thanks, tumblr) -- don't think I'll manage for the rest, but I should at least be able to get the pictures in the right order!
And that, along with answering the comments on DW, which I shall do shortly, is my Monday! So far so okay, I guess. . .we'll see how the week proceeds. *nods* Night all!

Date: 2020-07-23 03:14 am (UTC)*snork* Yeah, probably feels like ages away for her now. She'll learn! XD

I did the haunted hotel quest today. After I turned the breaker/generator/electricity back on and I made my way back to the door, I thought I saw something move and I jumped...turned out to be the player character's damn shadow. :/ If that wasn't bad enough, we had a storm blow up as I was getting to the meat of the quest and a crack of thunder rolled just as shit started attacking me in the kitchen. I was like Thanks game I didn't need my heart to jump into my throat. Eff that side quest...really.

Date: 2020-07-23 03:34 am (UTC)Ooh man -- you got all the luck with that quest, didn't you? I haven't jumped at my own shadow in that quest yet, but I'm sure I'd freak out if it started storming in the middle of it. It's a pretty creepy quest! (Though I personally think Grout's mansion is worse. . .)

Date: 2020-07-23 06:51 pm (UTC)I have to play in 3rd person otherwise I get motion sick, and I just got the new "armor" from Fat Larry. I haven't had a question about it yet, but it's just a matter of time I'm sure.

Date: 2020-07-24 03:00 am (UTC)Third person is best for the game in general, I think -- and yes, all of the Malkavian outfits are, um, questionable. XD The last one arguably is the least "stripperrific," but it's still got torn-out buttcheeks on the pants if I recall correctly.

These are Antoinette's.

Date: 2020-07-28 02:58 am (UTC)Huh, neat. I've got a pair like Antoinette's for my iPod Shuffle, only with a cord. They're pretty worn out these days, though.
