crossover_chick: Doc in goggles and holding a big old plug with the words "feeling sparky..." (BTTF: feeling sparky/creative)

And fortunately it was a pretty quiet day at work with few angry moments (though one of my coworkers was chatty in a way that started grating on my nerves -- but at least it wasn't politics!), so I was able to make it through my five hours without much fuss. Just did my work, ate my lunch, cleaned my space, and went. Glad to be home for two and a half days!

Afternoon was quite solid:

-->We now own a generator! In case of emergency, don't you know. It apparently needs some fuel stabilizer before we can really fire it up, but it's sitting happily in the garage for now, and we have it in case the power goes out during a storm. Which, given this hurricane season seems on the verge of turning into a shitshow, is probably a good thing.

-->We played the beanbag game not long after I got home -- Dad won the first two games, with Mom taking second once and me taking second once. And then I managed to pull out a win in the last game with a couple of good shots, which was satisfying. :) Pretty nice out when we played too -- I was expecting it to be more humid, but it was pretty dry, if a bit breezy. So I got my daily dose of fresh air, at least.

-->Played some Fallout 4, as I said I would -- though I didn't test the mod I was planning on. Turns out "Rich Merchants" hasn't been updated in a while and may not work with the current version of the game. *grumbles* So instead I updated my "Apple Trees" mod, went and found the new orchard (it's just to the west of Vault 111 now), and then wandered into Sanctuary and ended up doing some building just for the fun of it (reorienting one of the shack prefabs I built, reorganizing the furniture, making an outhouse because now that I have toilet fixtures as an option, I like to add them to settlements). This backfired on me a little, though, because -- well, when I build and cook in the game, a lot of the time, the screen ends up covered in this annoying green static. And all the flickering, after looking at it for a long time, ended up making me a bit nauseous. :( It went away after I lay down for a bit and looked at things not my computer screen, but ugh. I've looked up the problem, and apparently it's a bug with the shaders? And updating your graphics card drivers is supposed to fix it? Only, the Steam Community topics I'm seeing for that are from 2015, so. . .is that still relevant to MY situation? Hmmm. . .there's a video on the subject too, though THAT'S from 2016. . .still, might be worth watching. It's annoying even when it's not making my stomach roil.

-->Wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- Alice and Mercurio made short work of Gimble and his severed arm! Alice knifed him and paralyzed him with laughter, while Mercurio went after him with a hammer. If the dude's not dead after all that punishment, it will be VERY surprising. And an off-hand line about how Vandal would like the guy has got me thinking of an interesting way to punish old Cleaver. . .after we get Carson out of his cell, that is.

-->Did the YouTube thing as well:

A) I've got some free time; how about some TED-Ed riddles?

1. You're a spy spying on some other spies who have captured a chef in hopes of finding out where his secret sauce recipe is. The interrogator is taking the chef at his word as he answers questions – but you can tell that the chef is lying for the first two questions, and telling the truth for the third, even though you can't hear the answers themselves. You miss entirely how he answers the final question, but – if you know your perfect cubes and squares – you can still reconstruct what was said and find the secret recipe before your competition does!

2. You're a detective seeking out the werewolf that's been terrorizing your village! You have five suspects and fifty grams of a werewolf antidote, shaped into a cube. You can cut that cube up to make five ten-gram antidotes to put into the suspects' food when you invite them over – but you have to use your laser cutter, and the stupid thing will explode if you use it more than once per day. Time to use geometry to try and see how to divide the antidotes into perfect fifths! And then, as a bonus, figure out from the cured werewolf where he got afflicted, and see how many werewolves live there (which is a twist on the "one kind of person always lies, the other always tells the truth" riddle).

3. You're a wizard going up against two other wizards in a deadly duel. Your first opponent can turn people to fish 70% of the time; your second can turn people to statues 90% of the time. You have a choice of a wand that can wrap people in vines 60% of the time, a wand that can turn people to trees 80% of the time, and a wand that can teleport people to a mountain 100% of the time. Which wand do you choose to maximize your chances of winning? (Turns out it's the WEAKEST wand, with the caveat that you also DELIBERATELY MISS your first shot, forcing the two more dangerous wizards to cast at each other – they both can't miss as well because then you'll all be turned into cats, them's the rules. I wish I'd managed to get this one, because the moment the explanation started, I realized I'd come across something similar once on QI! That one was about cowboy duels, admittedly, but still!)

B) Then it was time for some OXBox and OXtra, respectively:

1. OXBox – another seven terrible places for fighting that have served as fighting game stages! Featuring such locales like a knockoff Jurassic Park; a blimp soaring above a city; an on-fire art gallery; and a terrible nightmare train with a giant eyeball and mouths on its side. One of these things is not like the other~

2. OXtra – seven boss fights against your evil, cooler self! Dark Link from Ocarina of Time was of course mentioned, but we also got things like a clone Shepard from the Mass Effect 3 DLC, and esseJ from Control (an evil mirror duplicate of the protagonist). Also Klunk, the evil robot duplicate of good robot Clank from Ratchet and Clank, who I feel is here on a technicality, because you don't fight him as Clank, you fight him as his buddy Ratchet. Still, I guess it counts in that he's a duplicate of one of the heroes, and it looks like a fun boss fight. :P

C) And a compilation of Fallout in-universe ads! Most of them are from Fallout 3's ad campaign (as this was made right before the release of 4), and they're all very entertaining. I think I like the ad for the Vaults in general (made with solid 50s values) and the ad for the Fat-Boy Launcher (totally appropriate for kids! No, seriously, the damn thing is apparently based on a REAL TOY) the best. XD Bethesda may not be the best, but they made some fun ads for their games, and you can't take that away from them! (Kind of reminds me of how almost every Sims 4 trailer has genuinely banging music.)

D) And then I went ahead and watched a few Fallout 4 trailers and what-not, like the famous live-action "Wanderer" trailer, and a compilation of combat (also showing off Nate in a few fancy outfits – including a sparkly red dress, because Nate likes to feel fancy sometimes). Plus my favorite trailer just due to the silly, for the Wasteland Workshop DLC! Because, well, Nate just sounds like he's having FUN for once in his life. XD

-->And I'm currently getting my Valice Multiverse queue sorted while prepping to answer DW comments. Looking like a quiet night, which is just fine with me.

Okay, non-cleaning Saturday tomorrow! Gonna focus on catching up with GrayStillPlays and some other Sims-related vids on the new game pack announcement, plus playing some Sims 4 myself. Gonna try and give Chell a day in the spotlight at her bakery, since we haven't visited in a while. *nods* Also, gotta post Chapter 12 of "Secundus 2," yay~ But first, finishing up things tonight. Night all!
