Could Have Been Better Thursday
Sep. 24th, 2020 11:12 pmGetting into work and leaving work both involved stupid traffic stuff (accident going in, having to squeeze myself into a gap I thought was bigger going out), and work itself was mostly a lot of roster maintenance stuff sandwiched between desperate attempts to avoid people (I had to accompany a coworker down to the first floor because we had cash going out, which involved more people squeezing past me and more people not wearing masks properly -- I did what I could to keep my distance!). So yeah, things could definitely have been better. At least I'm out for four whole days now! Whew. . .
Afternoon's been all right too, I have to say:
-->More decent weather, though that does come with a resurgence in bugs -- I got bit the other day, and we had to kill some flying ants near our house
-->We did another five rounds of the beanbag game -- this time Dad won three games, while Mom and I each won one. Hey, it's still better than I did on Monday! I'm not suited to playing that game in the chill, I think.
-->Wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" after supper -- Alice has dodged the doomsayer, discovered Foxy Boxes, and is currently going through the Cathayan's reports on the Kindred situation in Santa Monica (or possibly Los Angeles as a whole; I'm unsure). Another boss fight is coming up!
-->Tonight, YouTube was all about the OX – OXBox and OXTra, that is! Caught up with three of their list videos:
1. 7 NPCs Who Should Be In Jail – like Helen West, murderous muffin-maker in Hitman 2! Though her basement complete with incinerator is handy for getting rid of bodies. . . Or Mr. Libidio from Yakuza 0, who runs around in his underwear doing sexy dances every chance he gets. . . .No, I don't get these games either. XD
2. 7 Things Bound To Happen When You Play Healer – which is essentially "here are all the annoying things the other players do when we play healer, the list." XD People running away from you, too eager to continue playing; people spamming the "heal me" prompt and annoying the hell out of you; people refusing to protect you even though you're the main thing keeping them alive. . .hell, even the GAME gets in on it given that healers generally have lousy weapons and armor. Makes me glad I don't play co-op games, and definitely not as a healer!
3. 7 Times Games Were More Realistic Than We Were Expecting – namely, Arthur of Red Dead Redemption 2 CANNOT hold unlimited guns on his person and must rely on his horse to do the heavy lifting (and hand-pick his armory for every mission); the players of GTA V CANNOT hit water from ten thousand feet up and expect to be okay (it's like hitting concrete, folks!); and the famous moon-portal from the end of Portal 2 CANNOT appear instantaneously because light doesn't work that way (there's a perfectly-timed pause of 2.56 seconds to reflect the light and portal traveling to the moon, then the light coming back to let us know the portal's opened). Interesting stuff! Also, according to Jane who knows science, the fact that portals allow instant travel between them despite traveling at the speed of light means the portal gun is also a time travel gun. Who knew?
-->Got something in the queue for tomorrow for Forgotten Vows Friday on Victor Luvs Alice -- basically just me saying "Hey, started 'In A World Of His Own!'" *shrug* It's an update!
-->And I'm currently working my way through everything that needs to be put into the queue for Valice Multiverse (LOT of asks and two threads), and getting ready to answer anything that may be in the old inbox.
So yeah, suspect I'm gonna be at that for a while, cleaning up for the night. . .was gonna try to answer a FF.net PM I have waiting, but I think that's gonna have to wait until tomorrow. Also planned for tomorrow: doing more Vault 81 stuff in Fallout 4, watching a video on Fallout 4 that I found (that references lockdown -- I think Many A True Nerd is talking about people coming back to the game in quarantine during 2020? In which case, I can relate -- it's been helping keep ME sane), probably more beanbag game with the family, and more "In A World Of His Own." I would imagine that's a doable to-do list. . . We'll see. Might depend on how late I end up sleeping. :p Night all!
