Tuesday The Thirteenth
Oct. 13th, 2020 11:12 pmMost of the day wasn't too bad, I suppose, but I have run into some rather annoying situations:
-->Morning at work was trying to sort out pledge billing stuff, including finding two people who I THINK should be getting bills, but given the way they've set up their giving this year, who knows for sure
-->Got in my workout this afternoon later than expected, as I hadn't taken into account the fact that my parents wouldn't be done with theirs by the time I got home
-->MY FUCKING COMPUTER IS A FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT AND HAS BEEN ALL EVENING
Yeah, it's -- it's been really frustrating tonight. I've gone through so many "not respondings" and various little freezes its not even funny. I've actually had to kill my usual YouTube music I'd have on in the background because I was pretty sure that wasn't helping. And at this point, it makes no sense to restart, because, well, by the time I got THROUGH the restart, I'd have to go to bed anyway. *deep, heavy sigh* And this on a day where I have a lot of comments in the inbox as well as a Valice Multiverse queue to do. . .at least I've gotten the one big thread I had to answer sorted! I hope. . . I've finally told my mom about the issues, and she agrees that it's probably time to get a new computer. She's talking about it being a good Christmas present; I'm thinking "maybe I just order it with my own money so I can guarantee getting it BEFORE DECEMBER."
Anyway -- I have no time to do much of anything else (I am not ignoring the comments that I have waiting, I just literally cannot answer them without going through another fucking ice age), so here's the YouTube roundup plus an update on my writing:
-->YouTube! It exists:
A) Another round on the bike once both my parents were done working out, another chunk of Jon's Fallout 4 Survival playthrough! Going from where I left off, he cleared out Hangman's Alley of the raiders who were living there (and provided some pre-built structures, nice) and dropped off some junk in the workbench – it's a tiny settlement, but it has some places to sleep and a weapons workbench, so it's a good little "player home." He then sniped the raiders who were giving him grief before, panicked over the feral ghoul encounter with your unlucky Sanctuary neighbors (not that he knew who they were – and the game doesn't exactly make it clear who these named ghouls are either, so. . .), stopped by Oberland Station to pick up their quest (clear out the bugs from Taffington Boathouse), and met up with Travis at the Beantown Brewery. They took care of Bull and Gouger, looted the place (Jon taking every empty bottle he could find), then freed a grateful Vadim, who gave him some goodies in return. Travis thanked Jon for helping him out (both with freeing Vadim and boosting his confidence), and that was another quest done! So it was back to Hangman's Alley to set up a water pump, fill up his bottles with water, and set up a nice bed for himself. I left it on him heading to Diamond City to recruit Sheffield (the Nuka-Cola addict) as a guard for the place. Also, he's hit level 15, so the Automatron stuff is firing, which has got him nervous. I don't blame him – I love Ada, but those Rust Devils and their robots are a PAIN. *grumbles*
B) Then it was time for Call Me Kevin and more Among Us! Today's video was all about being Shrek! You know, from Shrek 2, Shrek 3. . . XD Kevin went green, busted out the Shrek quotes, the whole shebang. It was pretty amusing, especially when other people started getting in on the action (like notSus saying "you made my day," when Kevin declared him his "Donkey" for a game (aww), or "bigtiddies" insisting they had to find him a Fiona – and then the Fiona they picked for his "ogre" pun turned out to be the impostor). XD And there was a genuinely tense moment when Kevin caught an impostor venting in front of him, and had to constantly run away from the guy to avoid getting slaughtered! Good times. . .
C) And then we caught up on our GrayStillPlays:
1. More Universe Sandbox 2! Gray has figured out how to create a negative sun – aka, a sun that LEACHES heat instead of gives it. This is mostly because the game lets you put a negative in a place where you really shouldn't. XD So naturally he threw a negative sun into the center of the universe. . .and while he froze Earth and Venus, he actually enabled life to form on Jupiter and Saturn. It was SO WEIRD – they had liquid water and continents and everything! O.o And then he put Earth between Positive Sun and Negative Sun – Earth ended up crushed like a tin can once Gray got bored and started jacking up the power. XD And then he put the suns NEXT to each other – Negative Sun attempted to eat Positive Sun, but Positive Sun ended up devouring it instead and developing rings. Just another day in Gray's Universe!
2. More Happy Wheels! Gray's playing more boards made especially for him, and it is delightful! I know I use that word a lot with him and Happy Wheels, but it really is just so much fun! From extreme bottle flips that fill the board with Tom Hardys in various states of dismemberment, to falling through many, many panes of glass while trying not to get crushed by a whole bucketful of balls, to a "choose your own death" board with all of the classics, to just a simple "Gray here is an opportunity to be shot by dozens of harpoons," this game has it all. XD
-->"Londerland Bloodlines" is also a thing that exists -- we're up to getting Therese and Jeannette to work together again. As suspected, I'm having to work with the Tremere playthrough as the Malkavian one really leans toward Jeannette (and, if anything, Alice leans a little more toward Therese) -- though I have worked in a bit from Therese's dialogue in the Malk version. The sisters are arguing, with Alice trying to play mediator right now -- she's gonna catch them off-guard when she furiously tells Therese that she was RIGHT to shoot her father (if she did), because ugh, that guy's a piece of work. At least that went well. . .then again, that was in the brief "shit actually works" window on this computer when you start it up.
And now it's 11:30, and I'm going to try and just exit out of everything and get this stupid thing to shut off. I may attempt to update a few things before going to work tomorrow, but no promises -- I should be all caught up by tomorrow afternoon, though. Hope you all have a better night.
