The Busiest Saturday of Marty's Life
Oct. 26th, 2020 10:04 pmYeah, I mean, it STARTS OFF with him sneaking out in the middle of the night to meet his best friend who has invented a freaking time machine, and it ends with him and Doc investigating this weird alternate reality where Biff is Donald Trump. (They actually leave 1985-A in the early hours of the 27th, so. . .) Marty has a busy weekend, is what I'm saying.
Anyway -- been a bit of a Monday, so let me just give you a relatively quick wrap-up so I can try to get at least a few last things done before needing to go to bed:
-->Work started out with a commute slowed down by some sort of accident further up the highway, and then turned into "oh great, another giant project to handle" interspersed with "why is it whenever I try to do something I always have to wait on someone else?" and "can you people not bother me for five minutes?!" *sigh*
-->Drizzly weather means no beanbag game today -- though we do have a new puzzle to solve, so that's something? Also have our movies for Halloween (we're watching Young Frankenstein and Dracula: Dead and Loving It), so that's good.
-->Got in some time on the treadmill today, which made for a decent workout~
-->Also got in some YouTube:
A) Finished up episode 11 and moved onto episode 12 of Jon's Fallout 4 Survival playthrough on the treadmill today. Jon finished up his trip through the Compound (killing a bunch of guards along the way, thanks to their terrible armor) and confronted the woman behind it all, Rebecca Chalmers. Turns out the reason she's so obsessed with hunting down synths is because her parents were victims of the Broken Mask incident in Diamond City (in which a malfunctioning infiltrator synth ended up killing a bunch of people). Sympathetic backstory, but as Jon said, you always pick the option that DOESN'T condone genocide. So Amelia was set free, Grills Bears got a bunch of caps from Honest Dan (but was unable to persuade him for more), and Chalmers got her head blown off after some agonizing on the morality of it from Jon. And then he went back to Covenant and got in a fight with LITERALLY EVERYONE LIVING THERE. Managed to survive thanks to judicious use of VATS and molotovs, but it was kind of a near thing! And by antagonizing the settlement, he lost out on a nice staggering shotgun at the shop, meh. Still, the now-empty town is his to do with as he likes! He ended out the episode by heading to Starlight Drive-In to get Preston Garvey to move to Hangman's Alley – only for Preston to be VERY INSISTENT on taking back The Castle. XD So he gave up on him, sent him ahead to the Castle for that quest, and instead loaded up some random settlers with junk and sent THEM to Hangman's Alley instead. Episode 12 had him trekking out to meet up with Deacon and start "Tradecraft" – though he's played the game before and knows the only ACTUAL way in is to go through the back, he decided to go for a frontal assault to start just to take care of the synths infesting the place with some carefully-placed sniper shots. He also took the opportunity to finally combine all the good stuff on his three 10mm pistols into one gun and scrap the others. I left him preparing to head round the back and into the old headquarters of the Railroad – good times!
B) Then it was time to finally start catching up on some Call Me Kevin:
1. Amnesia: Rebirth – the latest in the Amnesia series, featuring an unfortunate woman who survives a plane crash (while pregnant, no less) and ends up having to deal with terrible desert heat, strange floating rocks in a cave, the death of her husband, a creepy monkey doll, a terrifying monster stalking her through what looks like an old military base, and the worst thing of all – Kevin controlling her. XD Poor guy, he was just sprinting through every set piece possible to try and escape the scary. XD You know what, Kevo? I totally understand.
2. Saw II: Flesh and Bone – another entry in the video game series based on the film series, this time with more dumb puzzles! Like, seriously, how to solve one of them was so obviously telegraphed in a cutscene, Kevin had to laugh. And then deliberately kill himself walking all over broken glass. XD There were a few gory bits (Saw game, after all), but Kevin was kind enough to cut to puppies during the worst one. And this is why I like him, folks.
3. There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension – And like yin and yang, whereas the last video featured a terrible game with dumb puzzles, this is a hilarious-awesome game with fun puzzles! Fun, very brain-bendy puzzles – Kevin really had to think outside the box for this one! The conceit is that you're trying to access a game that the narrator, for some reason, doesn't want you to play – but then a glitch shows up, and it looks like you travel through a few different styles of eight-bit game on your quest to get back to the original not-game (Kevin showed off a point-and-click adventure featuring Holmes and Watson that got utterly destroyed by his attempts to find his way out XD). Interesting stuff, and I'm honestly hoping he does more!
-->Also did some writing on "In A World of His Own" -- Victor and Alice flying to the beach on the back of Blue Ben the dragon, with some bonus discussion of why Victor enjoys having dragon friends and how he's lucky to be out of Burtonsville. Should finish this chapter up on Wednesday with a playful surprise dunking for the two, and sandcastle building. XD
-->Looked into the kind of computer I want for my Christmas present this year -- now I just have to wait for my e-mail to behave so I can send the info on to my parents
-->And just set up THREE drafted posts with pictures over on my VictorLuvsAlice tumblr -- my Sims Wednesday pictures showcasing the end of my wizard tower renovation, and my pictures of Sole Survivor!Victor from my current run of Fallout 4 for Thursday. Nice to have something all sorted right away for that!
And now I just need to wrap things up with the comments waiting in my inbox so I can get to bed. Why does it never feel like I have enough time to do things in the evenings anymore. . .admittedly, this is partly my own fault; I spent longer helping with the new puzzle than I should have. It's just too easy to get sucked into those things!
Anyway. Comments, then bed. Hopefully tomorrow I can concentrate on the one big project I have (mostly investigating a bunch of people with bad addresses) and not get too sidetracked by stuff. Just gotta remember, short week. . .night all!
