crossover_chick: Doc looking very sarcastically over his shoulder (BTTF: in a sarcastic mood)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Got up a little earlier than usual this morning thanks to Daylight Savings ending (with the "fall back" last night), and proceeded to basically spend the entire morning on TV Tropes because my computer was doing virus and malware scans and I didn't want to interrupt with too much stuff because, well, I've complained about how this thing has been slowing down, right? *grumbles* Compounding the problem is the fact that I'm pretty damn sure I'm PMSing and thus my mood's just been going downhill with every annoyance and whatnot all day. Ugh. . .

Still, despite scans, slowness, and my own general grouchiness, I got a few things done:

-->Managed to get a bunch of comments from a friend rereading and reviewing some of my Forgotten Vows sorted today (I mean, the numbers' are already going up again, but at least I got the ORIGINAL bunch done)

-->Caught up a LITTLE on the YouTube:

A) Starting with a Fun With Shorts I missed the other day: "The Haunted Mouth!" I was expecting a cartoon, but it was actually a live-action bit of goofiness staring Cesar Romero's voice as "B. Plaque," warning about the dangers of too much sugary food, not brushing your teeth correctly, and not going to the dentist regularly. Just very silly, and proof about how some actors will do anything to pay the bills.

B) Back to Linkara to finish up Ashock The Fourth Wall (he managed to upload the last episode on Halloween itself, but again, I missed it the other day): another episode of the Spider-Man Clone Saga, "Web of Life!" Supposedly about Ben Reilly getting more of his life together; actually about Ben Reilly brooding about being a clone; Kaine (ANOTHER Peter Clone who has an EDGY look) staring at him before finally fighting him for no real reason; and the Grim Hunter (son of Kraven the Hunter) accidentally hunting Ben when he meant to go after Peter (blaming him for the death of his father), ending up in a fight with Kaine, and dying. It's all – very much a bunch of nothing with no real relevance to the overarching plots, and uuuugh. Also, the storyline at the end – okay, to sum up, Confession was sent by the Bandit King to torture Linkara and learn more of his weaknesses, but his attempts ended up disrupting some sort of experiment by a figure I'm pretty sure we saw last Halloween during the "different dimensions overlapping ours" shenanigans, and said figure chucked him and Linkara back to the main dimension, where Linkara and friends managed to either destroy it or chase it off. But the Bandit King has other plans up his sleeve. . .

And if you're confused by all that, congrats, so am I! Yeah, that's become a real problem with Linkara's storylines – there's such big gaps between parts due to real-life circumstances causing schedule slip and the like (2020 has been REALLY bad for this, between lockdown and Linkara and Viga buying a new house) that I've basically lost the plot. Plus I'm – starting not to really care anymore about the Contest of Champions and the like, simply because it HAS dragged on so long. I'd forgotten entirely who the Bandit King WAS, and had to rely on reading other comments to find out! Linkara, I love you, I still find your show entertaining, but. . .you really gotta get a better idea of what you're actually capable of when it comes to filming your show.

C) Fit in a bit of Call Me Kevin, playing some of the game Little Hope! I'm – not entirely sure what's going on in the game, admittedly – you start out with a bus crash, then you move to this dysfunctional family with a drunkard of a dad and a creepy youngest daughter who is listening to some evil force and sets the place on fire. You play as one of the sons, with the goal to save your family. . .but given the horrific deaths everyone gets, plus the fact that once the sequence is over, you're suddenly back to the survivors of the bus crash – all different people, though there's fair bit of model reuse – I'm pretty sure that's an impossible goal. The bus crash people are dealing with their own problems – fog that keeps returning them to the exact same place they left; unhelpful drunk people in bars; playing darts in said bar for – some reason; and two of their number randomly coming across a creepy doll that turns into what I assume to be the ghost of a Puritan girl named Mary – but I think the idea is that the bus crash survivors will encounter the ghosts of the family from the fire (the creepy daughter has already made a few appearances), and spooky shit will happen. It's very weird, but very atmospheric, and Kevin being dedicated to making everyone fight as much as possible in between jumping at the scary bits is amusing. XD

D) And finally, in the evening, we had more of Jon's lovely Fallout 4 You Only Live Once run! Which was – pretty epic, let me tell you. The run seems to be equally blessed and cursed – a few examples:

1. Jon went out of his way to find a Fat Man to use against the Deathclaw in Concord. . .and promptly realized that he was going to have to REALLY scramble to keep his weight down, because Fat Man launchers and mini-nukes are heavy and he's a Strength 1 sneaky-build character

2. He found a bunch of ammo for his pipe sniper rifle in the Museum of Freedom! . . .and then promptly had to waste his critical on a raider coming after him after a bad grenade throw, causing him to have to rethink his Deathclaw plan AGAIN and build up a fresh critical to use to nuke the damn thing. But he did indeed build that critical, and did indeed nuke the hell out of it. XD So that was pretty flipping awesome.

3. Took the settlers back to Sanctuary, went on a food run to Abernathy, and headed to Wicked Shipping to take out the ghouls there, before moving on toward Sunshine Tidings, making good time. . .only to get caught in a rad storm. He managed to find a shack and wait it out, but not before taking some rads. First damage of the run – sort of! Apparently he lost less than a hit-point of damage before from all his near misses, but as FO4 rounds down. . .as it stands, he has lost two hit points to radiation and mysteries, so yeah. Still, could have been a lot worse.

4. Some random settlers took out a bunch of raiders on a bridge for him – but while he was watching that he was nearly chomped by a random wild mongrel. He JUST got the shot off in time!

5. After clearing out Sunshine Tidings and looping back around to loot more of Concord and improve some of his guns and armor, he finished off the "Sanctuary" quest – and Idiot Savant triggered, granted him a LOAD of XP, yay~

All in all, though, he ended the episode doing pretty well! Preston and his group were saved, and Jon got to be badass against a Deathclaw (without power armor!); Jon cleared out a bunch of enemies from his current corner of the map and now owns Sunshine Tidings (even if his Perception -1 kicked in with him saying it only has a chem bench for a crafting station WHILE WALKING PAST THE COOKING POT); and while he has taken some damage, it's only two hitpoints worth! Could have been a LOT worse with all of the shenanigans he was up to. XD Next time he's getting himself a robot friend out of a local scrapyard and trying to complete the first Minutemen quest at Tenpines Bluff – should be interesting!

-->Squeezed in a little Fallout 4 -- went back to my old save and did some more of the USS Constitution quest. Victor left Curie to wait in an alleyway while he looked for ways to sneak into the scavenger camp -- after nearly getting blown up by a mine, I concluded I'd have to have him use the front door, and FINALLY figured out how to use a Stealth Boy (which makes you invisible for a short period of time). Victor snuck past the people outside, managed to find the guidance chip needed, then hid in the corner because everyone ended up in caution for a second. . .

And then a mercenary apparently with the group walked in, detected Victor -- and didn't shoot. Just -- stared. I was confused, but eventually just took the chain off the door and and left the back way. Helped a passing settler with some raiders and recruited him for the Castle, then found the rowboat elevator the USS Constitution gang drops when you're doing their quests and rode that back up to install the guidance chip. Mr. Navigator then sent Victor off to retrieve a replacement part from the Poseidon Pump F-18 location -- Victor grabbed Curie, and they made their way over there, stopping briefly to barter with a passing trader (whom I'm pretty sure was added by Tales of the Commonwealth!) Since I'd recently seen the pumping station in Jon's Survival LP, I knew was was coming for me -- though I wasn't as prepared for it as I thought, sadly. And I found navigating the partially-submerged bridge to be something of a pain -- kept getting stuck on stuff! But I got the part, killed the bugs and Mirelurk Hunters, and fast-traveled back to the ship to deliver it. Ironsides then sent me to get one more thing for his turbo-boosters, saying that it was at a nearby factory.

It was NOT at a nearby factory.

The game put it almost at the other end of the map.

In FORT HAGEN.

Yeah, I think the plot is angry that I'm neglecting it. XD (If you're unaware, Fort Hagen is somewhere you HAVE to go to complete the main plot line -- it's where you confront your spouse's killer.) Look, I've got a proper save ready to go! I'm just waiting for the new computer! Anyway, after getting killed via another mine I didn't see, I just parked myself in a nearby bar and saved. At least I got some more time with the fun robots!

-->Also got some writing done, hooray -- more on "Londerland Bloodlines," with Alice wrapping up her conversation with Bertram Tung and making plans to go explode the warehouse tomorrow evening. Yaaay advancing the plot! That much closer to the final chapter of this section. . .

-->And now I should finish up the comments I have to answer and go to bed, as it's back to work tomorrow. Ugh.

So -- yeah. Let me get on that. Hoping to find my groove again as November rolls on, maybe. We'll see. For now, good night!
