Fandom Crossover Day!
Nov. 5th, 2020 10:04 pmYes, today is important to two of my fandoms:
1. It's the day Marty landed in 1955 in the first of the Back To The Future movies, just in time to find his friend post-the invention of the flux capacitor
2. AND it is also the date of the fire that destroyed the Liddell family house and left Alice a traumatized orphan!
. . .One of these is a bit happier than the other, I admit. Why couldn't my fandoms cross over in a more pleasant way?
ANYWAY, not too much to report this Thursday:
-->Work was a LOT quieter, though I had another big spreadsheet to keep me busy. MOSTLY managed to complete it, though I'm a few lines shy of the end goal, sadly. Should be able to finish that tomorrow (especially since one of my coworkers is gone for a long weekend and thus the office should actually be QUIETER -- no more listening to the two of them talk politics, yay)
-->Worked on the puzzle a bit when I got home, then hopped on the bike for another ride
-->Finally found a channel which had uploaded the first episode of the current Taskmaster series for us to watch on YouTube! (For some reason, it's unavailable in America on the official channel, though so far all the other episodes are fine.) So we caught up with that -- it was pretty hilarious, let me tell you. XD And we still have the actual latest episode to watch tomorrow, yay~
-->And as for the rest of my YouTubery:
A) More bike, more of Jon's Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough – and episode 15 started with a twist! Namely, since Jon was playing this around the time the last DLCs were coming out, this episode was done right before the release of Far Harbor. And since there was a possibility his viewing audience would like him to take Grills Bear on the inaugural trip, he decided he wanted to be a little more central in the map, and a little farther along in the main quest. So instead of going around to finish off the Cabot House stuff and suchlike, he instead doubled back on himself to head to Fort Hagen and take care of "Reunions" and Kellogg! He stopped by the Old North Church to complete "Boston After Dark" with Carrington (after looting the safehouse) and pick up the quest to establish the Mercer Safehouse from P.A.M.; followed the water to get back to Hangman's Alley to drop off stuff and make tons of Vegetable Starch; wandered over Oberland Station way and raised a radio relay antenna; encountered Mikey and Moss arguing about sandwiches at an old lock for boats; wandered into the lock operations room to find a little unmarked bit of story, regarding a leaky reactor that was unable to be maintained because of the bombs dropping; and promptly afterward encountered his first Rust Devils. Yeah, Jon, I hate those bastards too – though they have pretty decent gear, I have to admit. I stopped the video when he ended up in the exact same bar near Fort Hagen that my "mod-testing save" Victor is currently parked in. XD It's kinda fun to watch the videos sometimes and go "Oh, hey, I was just there in my own game!"
B) Then I flung myself at Call Me Kevin and:
1. Teardown – A game with those blocky Minecraft-esque graphics and one goal – WRECK ALL THE THINGS! Well, okay, there are actually MULTIPLE goals in the story mode, but the moment you give Kevin's character a sledgehammer and exploding propane tanks, the goal definitely becomes WRECK ALL THE THINGS! XD Which he did admirably – driving cranes and bulldozers into buildings; slamming a boat right THROUGH a time share cabin on the water; and bashing his alarm clock straight through the floor. XD Good times!
2. More Among Us! This time with – more chaos! The gimmick was just Kevin calling himself "Denial" (with an appropriate joke about being "Daniel" and the whole "RT Game and Kevin are the same person" tease), but then he ran into a number of extremely weird things. Like a lobby that completely glitched out when he got disconnected (after, of course, making buddies with someone – he just wanted to say "good game!"), a hacker apparently screwing around with one of his games (and possibly getting him voted out), and finally either a newbie who was EXTREMELY unfamiliar with the game or a very dedicated troll pretending not to understand how "impostors" work in this game. XD Poor Kevin spent most of the episode doubting all of his guesses and being deeply confused – dude actually took off his headphones and lay down on the floor at one point, because, uh, why not? XD
3. And a sponsored video for Dirt 5, which is apparently a rally-racing game (the fifth in the series). Kevin promptly made all of his cars weird colors and covered them in this one carrot decal. XD To be fair, though, he actually did quite well in his first few races! It wasn't until he got to the one where you drive on ice that he started to falter. Special mention must be made of one of the challenge boards, "Hole in the Wall" where Kevin (after many tries), managed to set a new record! Yes, it's the best of the three people who have played the board, but he managed to more than halve the previous competitor's time! So that's cool. :D
-->Answered a few of the comments on my fanfics from my friend piling up in my e-mail -- was hoping to have time for more, but no dice
-->Didn't really have time for writing thanks to another late start on the computer (and catching up on those e-mails), but I did at least list all the crossover elements in my "Tell Me Where To Find Shelter" Valice AU, in case I ever actually WRITE DOWN some of the scenes that constantly replay in my head (base of Fallout 4, with characters from Corpse Bride and American McGee's Alice sprinkled in, and the vampires from Vampire: the Masquerade -- Bloodlines, though I've got an idea for a twist on those. . .)
-->Currently getting my Valice Multiverse queue done, then time to clean up DW and head to bed. Friday again tomorrow, which I appreciate -- we'll see if I get my new computer this weekend. The peripherals have arrived, so it's just a matter of waiting for the actual COMPUTER. Hopefully everything goes well with it. . .
Got other stuff that needs tackling first, though. Night all!
