Blank Day In Canon Or Not?
Nov. 15th, 2020 10:04 pmThis one's tricky, as according to the Wiki, Doc and Marty access the Hill Valley Archives to see what happened to Doc when he was shot by Buford Tannen on the 14th -- but it really FEELS like it should be early in the morning on the 15th? At any rate, while we don't see it, we know this is the day where 1955-Doc repairs the DeLorean with his 1985 self's plans so Marty can go back to 1885 to rescue 1985-Doc. And that's worth a 10:04.
Today ended up being largely a repeat of yesterday, despite my plans:
-->Woke up a bit later than I'd planned this morning (despite managing to get into bed just before 2 AM for a change), then ended up spending until 12:30 with my parents finishing that bookshelf puzzle that was tormenting us (but we did get it done! Now that was satisfying)
-->Finally made my bed, put on clothes, and had lunch, then got the puttering around online out of my system before doing some more game play-testing! I did:
1. Portal 2 -- again, threw myself into some of the challenge maps to see how the game was working (well, happily). Managed to improve my time and portal rankings on a few levels, and even got a new achievement for figuring out how to get a box on a button without even touching it. :D
2. BioShock -- this one ended up requiring fiddling. I got into the game all right, updated my graphics options, then started a new game and got through the opening cutscene. . .only to discover that, once the game ITSELF started, I had no sound. Puzzled and concerned, I saved shortly after the opening and backed out, and happily found on Steam itself a fix (had to enable something that was currently disabled in my control panel settings). After that, sound was good, and I was able to play through the opening bit of Jack's adventures in Rapture.
3. BioShock 2 -- this one was smoother -- no sound issues, and graphic options were already pretty solid, so yay. Played through the very opening of Alpha's adventures, and left it at that.
Unfortunately, I was not able to get to BioShock Infinite -- or, more importantly, Fallout 4. Those will sadly have to wait until next weekend! But at least I'm in a place where I can safely say most of my games work! So if I want to go back to any of those, I can. :)
-->Got in some YouTube and inched closer to being fully caught up on my subscriptions:
A) Today, as prophesied, we had lots of GrayStillPlays!
1. Stickman Destruction Falling – I dunno if we’ve played THIS particular variation of “stickman bone breaker” game or just something like it, buuuut you know the drill by now, right guys? XD This one actually featured TWO games of this nature – I’m not sure what the other one is called, but Gray said it was by the same developer – and in both, Gray found amazing ways to infinitely torture his sticks for ludicrous amounts of points. One involved a shopping cart ridden into a fan level where the fans were going so fast that you could literally LEVITATE from the force; the other involved skis flinging the unfortunate girl riding them into bouncy balls to have her head or butt bounced for eternity. Just another day in stick figure hell, I suppose!
2. Stickman Backflip Killer 4 – Okay, this is apparently a sequel to one we’ve done before, the one where, instead of vehicles, you’re typically using your own BODY to destroy yourself and other stickmen. Though there are props available for use in this version. Like a giant saw blade on a stick. And you’re allowed a gun in some levels, though Gray found headbutting and kicking his opponents to be generally more effective. Especially when he got the “stunner” move, which can be summed up as “flail until you win!” XD This game also has “parkour” courses, which are all about avoiding hazards – poor bastard struggled so hard with a “saw fall,” a la Happy Wheels. But if we’ve learned anything from that game, it’s that Gray will NEVER admit defeat. . .
3. Happy Wheels – SPEAKING of my favorite game to watch Gray Still Play. . .the death courses are getting SO much longer and more complicated. It’s absolutely delightful. :D I love watching Gray struggle through the world’s longest bottle run, or fall through false floors to dodge harpoons, or endure being shot with ten million arrows. All to end on a bottle flip of pure awesome (summon Tom! Summon axes! Summon a rain of bottles from the ether!) They’re impossible to properly describe, you GOTTA watch ‘em. :P
B) And then, of course – I may not have gotten to play my beloved Fallout 4, but I did get to watch it – it’s Sunday, which means it’s time for Jon’s Fallout 4 You Only Live Once run! Today was “Jon has made a plan, the game is going to ruin it in every conceivable way that it can.” XD From getting detected by a giant group of mole rats as he skirted a junkyard, to getting a truly horrible legendary drop from a radroach (Exterminator’s Lead Pipe, which – nope, who needs a melee weapon that squashes bugs better?), to picking up a disease the very first time he tried swimming after getting “Aquagirl” (Fatigue, meaning he needs to sleep more often), to getting overtired while wandering the map – only to discover the bed he’d hired in Bunker Hill was just a mattress and thus he COULDN’T get a full night’s sleep there. . . Yeaaah. Finalley didn’t do so well this episode. BUT – she didn’t take any more damage, she picked up some very useful hacking magazines that allows her to hopefully control ALL the robots, she did get a decent drop off this one legendary Super Mutant (more sneaky armor for our sneaky gal), and she did make it to Diamond City and a bed before she really got smashed in the face by her exhaustion. So, you know, positives to all of this. XD This is a fun series – nice to have it to look forward to on the weekends!
-->Didn't get to exercising (my parents were down there, and I was concentrating on Gray), but I DID get a little writing done -- wrapped up my answers to this one survey for my "Tell Me Where To Find Shelter/Fallout of Darkness" Victor and Alice pair. Better than nothing, and hey -- now I know exactly what I can post on Thursday over on VictorLuvsAlice. :p
-->And I just wrapped up the three threads I had waiting for me over on Valice Multiverse, so that queue is sorted, yay.
And it is POURING outside, yikes. O.o Like proper heavy wind and rain. I hope this isn't supposed to continue into tomorrow morning -- even if traffic's light, this will be a bitch to drive in. And I have a complete full week of work coming up, yaaay *sigh* Barring misadventure or lockdowns or whatnot. Though that reminds me, I have to dig out the laptop (yes, already) and quickly e-mail myself a link that I don't have but need on this computer (we have a COVID-19 self test we have to take before actually entering the building, and I can't find the link to it on the actual diocese site). Then it's wrapping up my comments on here, and then bed. Hopefully this week won't be too stressful. . .but then again, I shouldn't hope. Every week is stressful here in 2020.
Anyway. Let me wrap things up here, get the link to that form sorted, then prepare to hit the sheets. Hope you're all doing okay -- night all!
