Welp, Another To-Do List Not Completed
Nov. 22nd, 2020 11:10 pmThis time, because I underestimated how long it would take me to set up Vortex again! Because I'd managed to forget the steps needed for getting FO4Edit (and the related Quick Clean app) and Fallout 4 Script Extender sorted. I got them INSTALLED easily enough, Vortex took care of that, but making sure all the files worked and everything was linked to the right places, then reinstalling all my mods (with a couple of fresh downloads for ones that had updated) took the bulk of the afternoon. I technically opened the game itself, but I never got past the opening screen. At least that's enough to tell me that F4SE is working. And with my mods back in, I should be safe to restart my saves. At least I have a long weekend coming up!
So yeah, not as productive as I might have liked. . .however:
-->Last night, before I went to bed? Not only got all my pictures for the next Newcrest Adventures update sorted, I got another AU Thursday post detailing some of my vampire-related headcanons for my FO4/VTMB crossover AU with Victor and Alice sorted! So yeah, that was a nice productive ride.
-->I may not have gotten to Fallout 4 (or Sims 4) today, but I DID at least get through testing BioShock Infinite! Started a new game to go with the new starts for the other two BioShocks and made it through the opening sequence -- got second place in a couple of the carnival games and picked up the Possession Vigor, yay. So that's working, looking good, if I ever want to return to that I'm in a good spot. :)
-->I did also get some exercise, yay for me -- back on the treadmill, since I had the time before supper!
-->Didn't catch up on YouTube like I was hoping, but I did get a few things watched:
A) Treadmill today, so I got to watch a bunch of Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! We left off with him leaving the Starlight Drive-In, after sending a bunch of the settlers in it away to Hangman’s Alley and scrapping a bunch of the walls and whatnot. He headed off through Concord (which was thankfully quiet, with only one vertibird buzzing overhead) and finally reached Sanctuary, his goal of episode 18!
He promptly proceeded to empty it of people (except the Longs and Mama Murphy) and scrap the hell out of the place because, now with supply lines linking it to Hangman’s Alley, there was no reason not to have as many building materials available to him as possible. He said a surprisingly heartfelt goodbye to the little settlement, then summoned a vertibird and headed back to the Boston Airport and the Prywden (which I think I’ve been misspelling all this time). Episode ended with him dropping off some fetch quests and the proper quest “The Lost Patrol” to Kells, and picking up another – “Duty Or Dishonor,” a quest about mysteriously missing supplies. Jon was eager to investigate, as apparently he’d never done that one before (he hadn’t gone full BoS before this playthrough), so episode 20 started with him investigating the supply depot, talking to the various characters there. Plenty of shady goings-on for him to be suspicious about – the man in charge, Gavill, seems oddly hostile to the idea that his team could be stealing food, and the two other important characters, Lucia and Clarke, are in the middle of a bad patch prompted by Lucia’s recent promotion to Knight (Clarke is still an Initiate) and Clarke getting distant for some reason after the Brotherhood rocked up and cleared the feral ghouls out of the airport to make it their base. I ended with Jon having followed Clarke deep into the airport ruins – and finding a mess of ferals down there! I know what happens, having read what the quest entails before, but I look forward to seeing Jon’s reaction!
B) Couldn’t watch a lot of Kevin thanks to spending most of my afternoon with Vortex and earmarking most of my evening for FO4 YOLO, but I decided I could sneak in one – more Among Us, with the gimmick this time being that, every time Kevin dies, he donates to Make a Wish Ireland! Isn’t that sweet? :) Well, it turns hilarious when Kevin dies within minutes of starting his very first game. XD Cue a run where he keeps getting offed by impostors or being “killed” by the impostors winning, along him laughing in disbelief at how bad he’s doing. The only time he did well was when he HIMSELF was the impostor. In the end, $350 USD was donated to charity, along with Kevin’s editor’s fee (he saw what Kevin was doing and decided to pitch in). So that was nice. :)
C) And then, of course it was time for Jon’s Fallout 4 You Only Live Once run! Which, frankly, we must say is blessed at this point. So many lucky things happened in this run:
1. He was able to snag a Hazmat Suit at Fallon’s in Diamond City, meaning he now has guaranteed protection against rads in case of a surprise radstorm
2. He was able to take out the raiders (including a number of Psychos!) at Hangman’s Alley and establish it as a base without getting caught, setting up his adhesive farm and a nice bed for sleeping
3. He went down to the Boston Library for the Intelligence Bobblehead and survived the Super Mutants storming the building (mostly because the robots were HENCH, they took those fuckers out toot sweet) and got two very good bits of legendary gear off the legendaries – a Powered Raider Left Leg and, more importantly, a Penetrating Hunting Rifle that he later was able to turn into a beast of a sniper
4. He then risked Mass Fusion for the Strength Bobblehead and managed to complete THAT without dying, despite the last guy being in power armor! And, once again, getting some good loot off the corpse
5. He did all this WITHOUT TAKING ANOTHER HIT. Seriously, not ONE enemy has managed to get the better of him yet! It’s been close – whoo boy has it been close. But Finalley is living – well, not her best life. But at least she’s LIVING. XD
Yeah, it was a tense but SATISFYING episode this Sunday. Great to see Jon thriving, getting himself to grips with this latest character and her sneaky sniper build. :D Next time seems like it will involve pseudo-supply lines to Hangman’s Alley from some of the other settlements – hopefully Finalley can set all this up without issue!
-->Just finished up my Valice Multiverse queue -- three threads, boom boom boom~
So yeah -- not exactly the day I was HOPING for, but definitely not a waste. Now I just have to clean up the remaining DW comments and hit the sheets, because I DO still have work tomorrow. At least it's a short workweek! Hopefully they'll still be letting out early on Wednesday. . .if they do, I'm going straight into Fallout 4 and playing a little, then making my plans on how I want to stat out Victor in the "official" save I just started. ("Scrapper" is a MUST after seeing what it can give you for scrapping up your guns. . .)
But that's for later in the week. Right now, I gotta head to bed. Night all!
