As I will explain as I go over my To-Do list:

Catch up on Linkara: Done! Here's the run-down of the abbreviated Secret Origins Month --

1. “Marvel Super-Heroes #12” – origin of Mar-Vell, Marvel’s first “Captain Marvel!” (The one before Carol Danvers – or any of the OTHER heroes who have held the name in an attempt to keep Billy Batson from DC from using it.) He’s a space alien from the Kree galaxy who is on Earth to avenge some stuff the Fantastic Four did to Kree sentries or whatnot (neither I nor Linkara have read the backstory), and there’s an extra element of “oh, and my superior officer has a thing for my girlfriend and is probably gonna set things up so I die on the mission.” Sounds like it could be super interesting, but not a lot happens in the very first issue, beyond Mar-Vell expositing a lot about his space-tech and accidentally making a missile go off-course. Fortunately, the second half of his opening story actually also features good old Carol, so – good chance we’ll see it in 2021!

2. “The Flash #110” – origin of the Wally West Flash, in his starting role as Kid Flash! Linkara apparently feels bad for Wally, who gets a LOT of shit thrown at him in comics, and wanted to show off a simpler time when Wally just got to be the sidekick. And as a bonus, the OTHER story in the comic features the origin of Flash villain the Weather Wizard, so Linkara decided to cover it to appease people eager for villain origins. The Weather Wizard story was goofy, but had plenty of fun moments and an interesting origin for the villain himself (instead of being a super-scientist, he was the two-bit crook brother of one who just used said brother’s research to make his Weather-Stick); the Kid Flash story was low-key and featured a ridiculous repeat of Barry’s own origin story for Wally (EXACT SAME WEIRD LIGHTNING BOLT ACCIDENT), but did feature Wally actually successfully saving the day on his very first outing! :D I’m quite pleased about that – too often the kid screws up because he’s so new. Glad they allowed Kid Flash to be competent!

3. “The Amazing Spider-Man #129” – origin of The Punisher! Linkara did this one for the people who want “villain origins,” mostly because The Punisher did indeed start out as a villain – he took on the protagonist role later. Specifically, he was a Spider-Man villain, as noted in the comic – and hey, look at this, this comic ALSO is the first appearance of The Jackal, aka that asshole responsible for the nonsense of the clone sagas. No clones in this issue, though, whew. Instead, we have the Punisher as an assassin hired by the Jackal, who’s tricked him into believing Spider-Man is one of the villains he needs to kill (he specifically says he doesn’t enjoy it). There’s some good action between Spidey and the Punisher and the Jackal, some good side beats (especially with poor Harry Osborn descending into paranoia), and a decent ending where Spidey convinces the Punisher he’s not evil (and helps him find the Jackal set him up to take a fall), but poor Spidey gets blamed for another crime, and the Jackal continues making his evil, evil plans. . . Also, this is apparently around the same time the Spider-Mobile would make an appearance, with Linkara being shocked the mention of it indicating there’s a whole STORYLINE around it. Cue people in the comics asking him to review said stories. XD Hey, I’m game!

See about catching up again on Call Me Kevin and GrayStillPlays: Unfortunately not, I hope to do that tomorrow after work (which should be easier with no commute). Though I do have a couple of other videos I can tell you about:

A) Starting with something I watched last night – said I was tempted by Fallout 4 speedruns, right? Well, this guy going by “tomatoanus” on YouTube did a run that was under 40 minutes! This is the same guy who pulled off the wacky “Warp% playthrough” that was roughly FIVE – this one didn’t completely abuse all manner of alternate timelines, though. XD He used one of the same tricks, loadwarping, within this particular save to do stuff after visiting a key plot location, then reload the save and quickload shortly afterward to bring the character who actually did the stuff forward into the previously-visited locale. There was also tricks like using the computer trying to figure out where you are when you melee attack in VATS to set up teleports, figuring out ways to literally SLINGSHOT yourself across the map, and climbing through the fabric of reality with traffic cones. XD It was all very impressive – especially since I think this particular one might be OUTDATED. It’s a couple of years old, after all, and Mr. Ketchup Butt has plenty of other speedruns on his channel, it seems. . .

B) Then, just for funsies, quick video from SNL showcasing a few favorite bits of sketches of presidents over the years – the Trump one they picked, woof! XD Alec Baldwin really nailed him. Will Ferrell as George W. Bush was good too. XD

C) And I got in another round on the bike, so more of Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! Caught up with him taking the vertibird to the South Boston Military Checkpoint – only to find it full of Gunners again! Poor bastard, he caught exactly 0 breaks there – especially when he threw a vertibird grenade instead of a proper one! He managed to clear them out, get some sleep, then head over to Big John’s Salvage – which was full of Super Mutants instead of ghouls. Jon and Grills managed to snipe a few of those bad boys, but got caught in a shootout with an overlord with a minigun. Grills won, but only just! And there was a legendary whose corpse he couldn’t find either. But he successfully cleared out the monsters, and – after taking out a few Super Mutant Suiciders near the hospital – went in, took out the raiders, and confronted Sinjin to assess his chances of saving Kent!

. . .They weren’t good, so he did the thing where he himself shot Kent, spooking the rest of the gang so badly Grills was able to go after Sinjin unimpeded. Even better, he managed to disarm the guy and force him to switch to a worse gun. Sinjin was killed, Grills left his remaining raiders to deal with the two corpses, and we ended episode 22 and started episode 23 with him stomping away from the carnage looking for a new settlement base to rest at. Left him talking to Phyllis, that sad woman convinced she’s a synth infiltrator because of an unfortunate incident with her grandson. :( Damn. . .

ACTUALLY PLAY Fallout 4 instead of just making notes about what I want to do in this playthrough: Yup! I restarted my Official Playthrough file -- went through the house, activated a bunch of stuff to hear the comments on them, and -- when the Vault-Tec Rep arrived -- filled out my character sheet! I named this version of Victor the full "Victor Van Dort" to differentiate him from his "the playthrough went off the rails and became a mod testing playground" self (I learned from the wiki that Codsworth DOES still have the ability to call him "Mister Victor" if he has both first and last name), went to set up his SPECIAL according to my plan. . .

And realized I'd done the math wrong when it came to distributing his 21 points. Whoops. Even with Endurance dropped to seven, I could only bring Agility up to four, and that was with leaving Luck at two. After a moment's thought, I decided to run with it and just adjust my plan for his earliest level-ups a bit. I got through the rest of the opening sequence -- running to Vault 111 after the news about the bombings; watching Shaun get kidnapped; exploring the empty vault after Victor's release; getting chewed on by radroaches; and making it back home to Sanctuary. We've had our tender reunion with Codsworth and have started looting the broken-down houses -- though I had to have Victor stop because of a dust storm. But he's gotten the book for the "Campsite" mod, and a bit of crafting should allow me to get some level-ups. Also, brought his Agility up to five with the "You're SPECIAL!" book, so that's good. My writing today has consisted of adjusting my notes and finishing off the basic history I came up with for him. . .

Aaaand adding one last mod to my mod list, because the same guy who gave me apple trees and good cap stashes also has a special "fine dining" mod with new meals, and apparently I'm a sucker for turning Fallout 4 into a cooking simulator. XD Last one, I swear!

Watch Jon's latest YOLO episode: But of course! Jon’s plan for this episode, after bringing some junk to Diamond City to upgrade his armor a bit, was to go to Lexington and meet up with Deacon for “Tradecraft” and get that done!

What actually happened was that he went to Oberland Station to see what they wanted (him to clear the bugs out of Taffington Boathouse again), got the “Fire Support” quest that introduces you to the Brotherhood, and decided he could risk that. Cue him confounding ghouls by standing behind little fences, running through ArcJet with Danse, getting set on fire during a firefight with a synth (he’s not sure what happened, and neither am I – all I know is something exploded, and poor Finalley took a little over nine points of damage), roasting Danse with a jet engine, literally dropping Righteous Authority on the ground after receiving it because he can’t use it (no guaranteed uniques or legendaries!) and it was too heavy to carry with him, getting a quest from Haylen to go to Far Harbor’s bowling alley for tech retrieval, and shooting up the ghouls in College Square for Rhys because he’s done that loads. So yeah, NEXT time, we should meet up with Deacon and do “Tradecraft,” and poor Finalley’s going to end up with some new scars (he put the first one, a little eyebrow ding, on at the beginning of the episode, and now she’s owed at least one burn scar). Hopefully she doesn’t just straight-up die – I’m enjoying these, and I’d like to see if Jon could at least make it through the main campaign!

And in the Other category:

-->Did my queue for Valice Multiverse -- four asks, nothing too challenging

-->Helped my mom complete her latest library puzzle, yay

So yeah, not a bad Sunday -- and as stated, very Fallout 4-themed, which is just fine by me. XD Now I have to wrap things up and head to bed at a decent hour, because I do have work! I may not have a commute, but I do have work! At least my morning can be a touch more leisurely, and I'll have a nice lunch at home. Just do my best with what I've got! We'll see what happens from there. Night all!
