Not A Great Start To A Short Workweek

crossover_chickNaturally, had The Anxiety (tm) about entering the office again, then work was reasonably stressful on top of that (catching up from some days off, combined with needing to do credit card stuff and answer questions from Fiscal and do quality control counts and -- yeah). And then, when I went out to the car to go home. . .when I went to start it up, it didn't -- start up well. And when I got concerned, turned it off, and then started it up again --
I got flickering lights, and a car that didn't seem to want to go anywhere.
Cue me freaking out, trying to figure out what the lights flashing meant with the manual, and calling my parents. They came to the parking lot, I zapped them in with my card, and Dad determined the battery was dying. He fortunately had some cables in the truck to give it a jump, and Mom was successfully able to drive us home. We're not sure WHAT happened to the battery (especially since I was able to successfully get it to work in the morning, and everything electric in it should just automatically turn off when I get out), but we'll see what's happening tomorrow morning. They've assured me they can pick me up and drop me off as necessary. I just -- I really don't want there to be anything seriously wrong with the car. I'm sick of having to have stuff fixed in the middle of a pandemic.
So yeah -- after all that, we got home after five-thirty, so after getting resettled in, I just went ahead and took my shower -- no workout. And then, after supper, I ended up helping with the puzzle, and I was feeling super uninspired when I DID finally get on the computer, so no writing either. Not great when we're speeding toward Christmas and I have gift fics to write and edit, but as long as this is the ONLY day off I need thanks to stress. . . Took the opportunity to ask a couple more tumblr friends if they have requests just now too. If I can't write, might as well get ideas.
I AM keeping up on the YouTubery, at least:
A) Started with the “skintone patch” trailer The Sims 4 team released to showcase how the new palette and sliders work. Looks all right to me, even if I’m still sour with them and myself for the surprise patch. (I suppose I can still play the game if I wish, I just can’t play my current saves because of all my custom content and mods. Maybe I’ll make a new save and do more renovations over the holidays. . .)
B) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin for some Hitman 2 fun! A simple elimination of a quack doctor named Gavin Vholes – Kevin, naturally, chose to complete the mission as a businessman pirate. XD With a stashed snowball in an exterminator’s bucket. The mission went about as smoothly as any in Hitman 2 when Kevin plays it – namely, he spent quite as bit of time pelting a woman with muffins; lost his briefcase trying to make it follow around a jogger (wrong briefcase!); managed to sneak into his target’s basement with no issue because the guy had laser tripwires all over his windows, but nothing over his basement door; lost a fight to an average cop while in disguise because he wasn’t used to the controls; knocked out his target and attempted to drown him via overflowing sink, and eventually left the level via the covered bridge in a hail of gunfire. XD Oh, and he killed the entire garden party because apparently they don’t let pirates attend. Not as many explosions as Mike-level chaos, but still good!
C) Then onto another episode of GrayStillPlays Happy Wheels! A trio of bottle flips where “impossible” was made much more impossible – but not so much for Gray! And he finally landed a bottle on one of those CIRCLE areas, which pleased me. :D There was also a bottle run, a couple of different trips through hell, a Christmas-themed glass run (with moving scissor sais, which gave Gray SOO much trouble) – oh, and the GrayStillPlays Jet Fall. Which apparently has so many jets it FREEZES the game if you try to complete it. And yet Gray did. How? By accidentally getting his character caught in the floor right before the fall and finding out a way to rip him in half so his top half made the finish line. XD Now THAT is the kind of can-do attitude we NEED in 2020!
D) Started with the Sims 4 skintone update, might as well end with it too – Plumbella went in and took a look at the new stuff brought by the patch! New home screen – she likes having the packs regulated to their own area; I personally think the new screen is kinda ugly (and yes, like she said, looks rather like a smart phone), but whatevs. New skintone color sliders – she appreciates being able to adjust and save custom tones, as do I! But she did run into some weirdness with making a kid with two Sims who have custom skin tones. Do it straight through genetics and the skintone won’t save – however, then upload the kid to the Gallery and redownload her, and suddenly there it is. She gets that it’s probably to prevent bloating out the skintone section, but an easier way to save the skintone would be appreciated! And the makeup sliders – again, good to be able to adjust stuff like saturation and hue, but she discovered the blushes in particular are REALLY limited. O.o So yeah, good update, but more work to be done for sure.
At least Kevin and Gray aren't letting me down. XD
Okay, not much else to say, given I didn't do much this evening and don't want to dwell on work stuff. Just gonna go finish off my comment for the evening, then head to bed. We'll see if tomorrow's any better. *sigh* Night all!
