Okay, To Do list -- how'd I do?

Sims 4 test: Check! Reenabled my mods after confirming online people don't seem to be having trouble with the two mods I have from Zero, nor MC Command Center; and I have exactly ONE custom make-up, it appears, which is actually a custom eye color, sooo not much to worry about there! I played through three days of Geeker's life in my "test save" file -- he made some new friends, got promoted at work, and I upgraded his house with a second level so I could add in a home gym downstairs. Also popped into CAS for a short time to look at the new skintone sliders and makeup sliders -- dunno how much I'll actually USE them, but good to have, yay diversity, now if they could just fix the genetics. . .but yeah, seems like my game isn't going to explode if I finish Victor and Alice's Newcrest Adventures vacation. Good to know!

Watch the two videos in my Watch Later and whatever comes up in my Subscriptions: 99% complete -- I ended up adding a couple of videos to the WL after writing last night's entry, and two of them remain unwatched -- though one I was planning on watching tomorrow anyway, as it's a Fallout 4 speedrun. But of the videos I did watch:

A) Started with an OXBox video – “7 Most Spectacular RPG Summons That Were Total Overkill!” Overlong Final Fantasy summons to wreck your enemies with the Knights of the Round Table or an angel-insect-commemorative plate hybrid (as Andy more or less put it) bookended the list, but my personal favorites were summoning one of the previous fan-favorite characters from the Yakuza games to throw a million electrified knives at your foes in Yakuza: Like A Dragon and summoning battle-ready versions of Disney rides in Kingdom Hearts 3. They’re just so wacky! XD And frankly, makes me wish virtual theme parks were more of a thing. You know how much I want to go on the BTTF Ride again now?

B) Then it was over to a quick one from Carl’s Sim Guides about fixing an immersion-breaking problem in The Sims 4 – namely, the same Sims appearing across every world (like Judith Ward from Del Sol Valley appearing in Mt. Komorebi). The worlds that come with each new pack are sparsely populated, so the game tends to yank out older Sims to fill the gaps, or create weird-ass new townies in terrible clothes (that don’t always look like they should live in the world they’re in). Carl’s idea is to allow an option for the game to pull no-CC Sims from the gallery to populate worlds, but – honestly, that feels like “forcing the community to fix an EA problem” to me. Admittedly, if you WANT to hand-select every NPC you want in your game, or make them yourselves for a save file, feel free! Should BE an option. But I think the actual solution is for EA to clean up the game so it can allow more Sims, and then properly populate each world so the game doesn’t keep defaulting to the same repeat offenders. *shrug*

C) Off the list video for an important announcement – the OXBox X-Mas Challenge starts TOMORROW! :D I’ve been waiting for this! And this year it’s a little different – while traditionally OXBox’s challenges have all been solo, this year the last three challenges will be out of the OXtra book and have the three going head to head! So that’ll be fun. . .Andy, are you just trying to get Mike to play you in Hitman 2 “Ghost Mode” again in as desperate attempt to win? XD

D) Over on Call Me Kevin, we had – knock-offs of Fall Guys! Remember that, the game where you played as a little bean against other little beans to complete various challenge boards and qualify to race for the grand prize? Apparently its popularity died pretty fast, and while some blame Among Us, Kevin blames a load of knock-offs! Like Jump Guys, or the recreations in the Playstation game Dreams, or the mobile games like Fall Guys Royale or whatever the hell it was called. All of them have three things in common: the game play is jank, the other players are usually AIs (though the last game Kevin tried had real people! Real, uh, toxic people. . .), and the character models are TERRIFYING. Apparently there are a lot of ways to make bean creatures look like demons from your nightmares, and most of them involve weird arm placements. Poor Kevin – he plays these horrible games so we don’t have to. *pats him*

E) And then we had GrayStilllPlays, with more Happy Wheels! And when you start off with a pogo jump where the “life” side has crossbows and the “death side” homing bombs, you know you’re in for a good one. :D The real stars of the show this time were bottle runs and bottle flips, though – these just keep getting more and more elaborate as people find new ways to torment him! And Gray keeps proving why he’s the MLG with his awesomeness. Guy can flip a bottle into Danny Devito, guy can do an ax run, guy can flip a toilet into the win, guy can race across so many bottles while being pelted by arrows and openly hating life and STILL win. Seriously, it’s kind of heartening to see such determination. Heartening and slightly dangerous – I was chewing some gum while watching this, and ended up swallowing it by accident while laughing. XD

Work on gift fic edits: Check! Edited the first of my Dreamwidth friends gift fics, yay. And I finally got a brief from one of my other tumblr friends about what he'd like to see, so w00, good there!

See if I can FINALLY get my head in the game enough to review the last two chapters of a fic from a friend I've been trying to do for MONTHS now: 50% complete -- I reread and reviewed the penultimate chapter right after lunch. Still need to do the final chapter -- that'll either happen tomorrow or next weekend, depending on how things work out tomorrow. But hey, I'm glad to have least gotten halfway there!

And now, for Other Things Of Note:

-->We finished the reading room puzzle! It was a rough one, but we ended up banding together after dinner to fit in all the remaining pieces. It's a really nice picture now that it's all together! :D So now it's onto the next one. . .

-->On a less pleasant note, I -- may have to restart my Official Fallout 4 playthrough. Yes, ALREADY. Because the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch updated recently, and while I was looking in the comments, I -- well, I found someone complaining about things being broken in Nuka-World. And in the comment thread, they mentioned that FO4Edit's quick-clean variation might be the culprit, removing stuff and breaking dialogue.

Cue me wondering what version of FO4Edit I have (the latest on the NexusMods page, anyway, 4.0.3), if this is a real problem (I finally found a second bug report on the "github" page for the application which seems to confirm it is), how the hell I update it (because apparently there's a newer version of the application that doesn't do this sort of thing, but who knows how I find it!), and if there's any way to at least save the face of the Victor Van Dort I made this time around, because MAKING HIM ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE VICTOR TOOK A WHILE (there's a mod, LooksMenu, that apparently lets you save "presets" of your characters, but I'm not sure if it's working correctly based on the comments?). *facepalm* I keep coming back to it like a dog worrying a bone -- I just. . . This is why I'll never buy another Bethesda game. I honestly enjoy Fallout 4, but the fact that you have to jump through such hoops to mod the game and fix the flaws is just. . .EA may be an evil bastard with a broken, lackluster version of Sims, but at least modding THAT is typically "drag and drop!"

Okay, I HAVE to try and let it go, at least for a bit -- there's not much happening on my Valice Multiverse tumblr at the moment, but that might change, so keeping an eye on it. Still gotta answer my DW comment too. . . Tomorrow's to-do list: Figure out this Fallout 4 nonsense; watch the two remaining videos in Watch Later; watch the OXBox X-Mas Challenge; watch Jon's FO4 YOLO vid; another gift fic or gift fic edit; get in a workout; hopefully review that other chapter. *nods* We'll see how much of it I get done! Night all!
