crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)

Not quite as bad as yesterday -- I had some time that was just "go through these people and look up who might be dead and who might be a duplicate" -- but still fairly stressful, especially when it came to credit card bullshit. I just -- ugh. I would prefer not to constantly find problems every time I look at their damn site. Meh. Plus the weather sucked for most of the day -- rainy and cold this morning! And it took forever for the heat to come on in the building! It was in the 70s by the time I got home, but still. Not great.

At least the evening to-do list went well:

1. Get in a workout: Check – did a “crossing a stream” fun ride on the bike, and knocked off another 25 minutes of “Nuka-World Level One Survival!” Having finally vanquished the Cave Crickets, Minnie went back to the Giddyup Kid. Her attempt to skip the whole quest this time failed (passing a red speech check is once in a blue moon when you’re low Charisma), but as it turns out, you only have to drop off ONE Giddyup Buttercup to complete it, and she’d already picked one up, so – easy-peasy! Easier than the Cave Crickets, that’s for certain. . .

One chunk of the safe combination in hand, Minnie started moving deeper into the park, bat at the ready – which was good, as a Bloodworm basically burst from the ground right in front of her face, fulfilling the “At Least One Major Jumpscare For Jon Per Series” quota. XD Fortunately, Minnie was getting quite good with her bat, and managed to finish it and its friends off in just a few swings. Unfortunately, there were also a couple of Stingwings nearby. Minnie managed to avoid them for a while by hiding out in Doc Phosphate’s saloon – which also gave her the perfect opportunity to start his quest! She tried again to skip it (doing a hilarious impression of a robot cowboy in the process), but Doc was having none of it. So it was time to go ahead and start putting Nuka-Wilds on tables! First one was easy, as it was just upstairs, second and third –

Did not get done the first time around because one of the tougher Stingwings got to Minnie as she left and managed to kill her right-quick with its venom. A grumbling Jon got her back to that point, rekilled the Bloodworm Larva hanging around (missing out on a Legendary thanks to an early despawn, shame), and very pointedly avoided the Stingwings as he took on the quest again. Happily, this time Minnie was able to complete it with a minimum of issues – mainly, she just had to very carefully take out some ants in the building behind One-Eyed Ike without aggroing him. The sniper rifle got the job done, and Minnie placed down her final Nuka-Wilds and got her safe combination fragment from Doc. And a few Nuka-Mixes, as there was a mixer right in the saloon and Jon was looking for more ways to help refresh action points. After that was a quick duel with One-Eyed Ike (which Jon didn’t even attempt to skip, as Ike gives you a Western Revolver for free, and that is a good gun – though Jon didn’t use it for the duel, instead pulling out his 10mil, freshly reammoed, for a few quick shots), and then FINALLY Minnie had all the numbers in the combination and could get the key to Mad Mulligan’s Mine!

And all the Bloodworms within! It wasn’t as bad as Jon feared, though – not only was the bat still doing good work, he actually found a MISSILE LAUNCHER in one of the Employees Only rooms right before a corpse infested with the damn things that he was only too happy to use once. Better yet, there were sleeping bags nearby too! Save dropped, Minnie proceeded through the ride and found and killed the Queen (which is – basically just a slightly-tougher Bloodworm; Minnie took her out in three hits), then finished off the last of her Larvae. She is victorious, yay! Time to get out of the “Mine” and assign the park!

2. Do a first draft of one of my owed gift fics in May: Check – my tumblr friend actually had a request for me to try and include a specific character (Jacob Frye from Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate; he loves the guy), and I had an idea for a specific prompt, so I thought I’d go ahead and give it a whirl. Ended up writing more of the “sequel” to my original idea, but I think it’ll suit. :) And it is nice to have a first draft ready early! Gives me more time to ponder the other one. . .

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check! Three in, three out –

A) Started with James Turner and a Sims 4 build – a basic bungalow! With, you know, the standard four basements full of bowling alleys, home theaters and pools, secret labs, and cells for nosy townies. XD It turned out really nice – the actual bungalow is very cute, and the secret levels are all well done. Especially the bowling alley and the movie theater – James knows how to design and decorate! Granted, he had to do a bit of fiddling near the end, while actually running a Sim through it, but – as he said repeatedly – “that’s why you playtest!” XD Honestly, given his comments early in the video, it seems he was just happy to get back to building in Sims 4 in general – Sims 3 lag was getting to him, at least when it comes to renovations. (Why does everyone like that iteration of the game again? What good is great gameplay if the game doesn’t RUN well enough for you to experience it?)

B) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and Feed and Grow: Fish! Or possibly Fish Feed & Grow, as the title screen says. . . Either way, it’s a game about being a fish and nomming everything in sight to grow up to be the biggest fish in your chosen biome. It is full of cute cartoony fish and beautiful scenery. . .and is REALLY FECKING HARD, as Kevin found out. You can be eaten and have to start over before you even HATCH! Death lurks around every corner, and you have to be ready to do the fish equivalent of a sprint at any moment. Poor Kevin had to try multiple times to get a fish past the adolescent stage. Eventually, though, he succeeded with a baby shark (do do do do do do) and became king of the reef! Or possibly queen of the reef, as the video ended with his shark mating with another shark and getting ready to lay eggs. Either way, it was a fun fifteen minutes of my life. :p

C) And then it was onto GrayStillPlays and more Happy Wheels! The people making the boards for him have learned that an easy way to torture him is to put something right at the beginning so his character can’t make it through the intro without injury. Such as a multi-stage harpoon jump that shoots a crossbow bolt right up Pogo Guy’s dick. XD Such ridiculousness was a theme of this episode, which contained the aforementioned extremely unfair harpoon jump (Gray had to resort to mine-jumping over the entire course to win); a very fiddly rope swing with Hobo Man (so easy to let go too early and miss all the other ropes); an “impossible” chain swing jump with Hobo Man (Gray had to learn the timing down to the nanosecond to avoid getting completely impaled on swords); a rope swing for Tom Hardy (more difficult because he’s smaller, but Gray still managed it in one go!); a jet fall without walls (after unsuccessfully trying to wrangle jets, Gray resorted to clinging to the side of the screen to control his fall and win); and Pogo Man trying very unsuccessfully to dodge the choppers (cleaver “butterflies” – Gray did eventually get his win, but only after taking about a dozen of these to the butt). You know – just the usual. :p

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – two asks into Valice Multiverse, and my Newcrest Adventures posts and a FO4-related reblog into Victor Luvs Alice! Nice quiet night on this front, aaah. . .

So that's all good at least. As is the fact we still have chocolate chip cookies and brownie bar things. *nods* Now it's time to wrap up comments and try to hit the sheets. We'll see how tomorrow goes -- more rain on what was supposed to be the "pick of the week" now. New England weather for you. . .night all!
