Overly Awake Saturday
May. 1st, 2021 11:22 pmWoke up earlier than I would have liked and couldn't really get back to sleep, but despite that and the wind refusing to die down until late afternoon, had a pretty good, productive day:
1. Give my room a proper clean: Check! Actually managed to make an earlier start on it too, thanks to waking up earlier than normal – was fully done by one o’clock, just in time for lunch and Taskmaster! So that was satisfying, at least. :D
2. Catch up on the Wyrd Sisters Podcast, keep up on other YouTube Subs, and at least knock out the Plumbella videos in the Watch Later: Check! Took me quite a bit of time, but I did it –
A) Started with the Wyrd Sisters Podcast on Thief of Time! As usual, a good listen – the trio quite liked this book, even if they weren’t keen on Jeremy’s characterization (feeling it was a bad take on being a neurodivergent person) or Susan and Lobsang’s attempted “romance” (I had to admit in my comment I’d actually completely forgotten about that and just sort of recalled them being friends). They all liked Lady Myria/Unity, though, which, fair. Girl gets one of the best death scenes in the series. :) And hey, next month is The Last Hero, so that should be interesting!
B) Then it was time for Plumbella and the following pair o’videos:
I. “Using The Sims 4 to redesign my ACTUAL house” – exactly what it says on the tin – Plumbella is swapping her living room and office areas in her house, and she decided to recreate the two rooms in Sims 4 to see where she wanted to put stuff and what color schemes she wanted and whatnot. It was a nice little look into her thought process for her workspace and whatnot, and she was very excited about her eventual new floor plans. And telling us all about the furniture she’d gotten on the cheap and whatnot. Oh, and how she’s not sure if she would have been a furry or not if she’d been born in a later generation (accompanied by some very confused comments from her editor who was NOT expecting this in response to her commenting on the “Friend of the Animals” aspiration) XD It was something, let’s just say that.
II. “Teenagers can FINALLY have unique personalities (Custom Kits)” – let’s look at some custom content taking advantage of the “Kits” label! The title is definitely an exaggeration – the content she looks at is a “Teen Fit” custom kit, which is just some clothes and a couple of hairs (mostly for women, as is typical with this game). They’re very nice clothes, though, I must say. Good if you want to give your teenagers some new items to try out!
C) Then, this evening, we started with James Turner and another episode of “3 Brothers!” Bit of a chaotic one too – most of the episode was spent with Brodie out on the slopes and at the Onsen, FINALLY working to complete his “Extreme Sports Enthusiast” aspiration. He encountered some forest spirits out in the wilderness and made a wish on them (getting $100 simoleons for his trouble), then learned how to snowboard until he could do a high-intensity run on the intermediate slope, then climbed rocks and skied until he injured himself, because weirdly enough sustaining an injury from snow sports is an aspiration goal here. No, I don’t get it either. Anyway, he did eventually head home, where the focus shifted to Candle for a bit – namely, Brodie made him a terrible cake, and he aged up to a young adult! He now has the Perfectionist trait, and James cleared up his acne and gave him a new haircut, glasses, and everyday outfit. He’s also enrolled in Britechester, doing a Psychology degree (mostly because James for some reason didn’t think to enroll him in the Literature one, despite his thing being “I want to be an author” XD). So far so good. . .
And then night fell. And the glitches started. Namely, Brodie failed another gig because James refused to go with him to actually perform it (going alone seems to be a recipe for disaster in the Paranormal Investigator career!), and Chaz absolutely REFUSED to eat. No matter what James tried to give him (namely pan-friend tilapia), the kid would NOT take a bite. It didn’t help that we had angry spirits and Temperance around – though Bonehilda actually kicked the latter’s ass, so that was helpful. James left it with Chaz still refusing to actually have any food, wondering if the kid was about to be taken away. I hope not – I like this little family! I don’t want to see them split up.
D) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and a special video from a stream he did with RTGame, Anna_Chess (his girlfriend), and JustAMinx – directing an actor, Tom, around a warehouse to rescue the hostage within! It’s a promotional thing for a new Michael B. Jordan movie on Prime, it looks like – Without Remorse. Each streamer was responsible for one portion of the rescue – Minx to get them into the warehouse itself; Anna to get the key to the main floor; RTGame to get down to the bottom level; and Kevin to finally save the hostage – by killing the guards. XD Yup, they gave KEVIN the lethal force level. Though, honestly, they were all chaos gremlins, making Tom steal people’s hats, interrupt a chess game (this was Anna’s level), knock out a guard with a muffin (Hitman 3 style!), do fashion walks, steal a cut-out of Michael B. Jordan. . .it’s really no wonder that Tom flipped off the camera at one point. XD Ah, but he was a pretty good sport about the whole thing otherwise. It looked like a fun time, I’m glad they decided to collab on this. XD
E) And then to wrap things up, it was more GrayStillPlays Happy Wheels! Started with a table slide where Gray managed to keep all of his limbs – but things kinda went downhill from there for his characters. Pogo-Man had to dodge death with a jump covered in landmines, harpoons, and a very-rapidly-swinging wrecking ball (Gray accidentally launched him off the board at one point); Bicycle Man had to do a glass break where the first wall was about a thousand pieces thick, and then the ending was protected by a – well, a bunch of jets in a certain phallic configuration (Gray claimed it was a mushroom before sending his son to die for him); Bicycle Man also had to do the “Karen Run” – and also slide down a long zigzag tunnel with all the developer’s ramblings (I do agree that anyone who makes oatmeal raisin cookies look like chocolate chip cookies should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law); Pogo-Man came back to do a very hard rope swing where you had to break through glass walls on top of avoiding spikes and all the other nonsense (it took Gray quite a while to reach the end with a full complement of arms); and Segway Nixon had to do a pretty difficult jet fall without getting blown to pieces (and Gray couldn’t cheat and hug the wall because the winning platform didn’t reach all the way over there). You know, your typical day in Happy Wheels. XD
3. Start edits on Chapter 4 of "In A World Of His Own": Check! I have moved that chapter to its own document, and I have already made one major edit – in the interest of pacing, I have cut the “Victorian DDR Machine” segment. This chapter was just too meandering, and I decided I wanted the Paino fight and the introduction of the Awful Orphica over a Victor and Alice waltz, sadly. I have saved the sequence itself, though – I’m hoping I might be able to later repurpose it as a chapter in “Imagine Me And You” (have it be a new addition to the world there – oh, maybe it’s a collaboration between the Conductor and the Hatter?). Also, in the interest of having the Paino fight make more sense, Victor IS going to be bitching about the Everglots at some point, thus justifying him suddenly fighting a toothy Harryhausen. I’ve already got the chapter down from eleven pages to nine, which is much more in line with the others – some more rewriting, and we should be good.
4. Play Sims 4 and do some more with Eric and his haunted house: Check! Updated MC Command Center and got rid of some other mods that hadn’t updated (as far as I could tell anyway), and dropped in on Eric! He didn’t have a particularly eventful day, though he did successfully complete a couple of seance ceremonies (one on his own, one with Guidry), and got his Medium skill up to three. :) And I was finally able to get his Charisma skill up to ten, completing his “Friend of the World” aspiration! :D Now I’ve got him on “Lord of the Knits,” because ghosts supposedly like handmade objects and I haven’t done much with knitting either. He’s up to two in that, with the ability to make beanies and socks. It’s a start!
As a bonus, I also dropped by one of my other saves (what I now consider my “building save”) and started work on a project I would like to do – an ice cream parlor shaped like an ice cream cone! I’ve set it as a restaurant and got the menu all sorted (naturally it serves pretty much only ice cream cones, though it also offers a section of drinks), but getting the actual CONE built is proving to be a bit of a challenge. I’m doing a cake cone (you know, the stumpy ones) for ease of building and placing objects – I’ve got the SHAPE roughly right (octagon), it’s getting the size sorted that’s going to be tricky. . . I’ll keep at it!
So yeah, not too shabby. Currently monitoring Valice Multiverse for activity while keeping up with some messages on Victor Luvs Alice and rereading some older stuff. Let's get the to-do list for Sunday sorted before I get back to that:
1. Draft out the other gift fic I owe this month
2. Watch as much of the OXBox/OXtra videos I have in my Watch Later as I can, along with Kevin and Jon's Fallout 4 YOLO episode
3. Play Alice: Madness Returns and get through some more of the Dollhouse level
4. Get in a workout
Yeah, there's three list videos and another RE8 demo from the OX crew, and they're all on the longer side -- hopefully I can get through them all, but not holding my breath. Have to factor in that we're playing beanbag toss tomorrow so long as the weather is good! Also possibly making my muffins, though given we have raisin toast ready, I may push that back a day or two. Trying not to overload myself here!
And with that, I'm off again. Night all!
